Get Console (Cisco Console Companion) is the first iPhone / iPod Touch app that gives serial console access to Cisco routers, switches and firewalls - or any other Cisco device with the Cisco standard RJ-45 ...
I love the ability to have a full console connection from my iOS devices and I like the other options built into this app However the main function providing a terminal connection is flawed by the not so user friendly display I wish the terminal display was locked to the iOS device display I don t want to have to scroll side to side or pinch to zoom in or out The well known app Termius does this perfectly well I want the option to lock the width and height to the display I m using         Not pleased with main function NothingLasts1987
Blowing peoples minds when I set up and fix devices from my iPhone Configure some scripts and provisioning and breaking devices is a snap No longer dependent on a PC for serial                     iPhone AirConsole User For Life JWarcop
If you want to manage serial console devices this is about your only choice It s got all the features and configuration options you could want I love the fine tuning of options and the ability to save and share configurations But and it s a big but GetConsole s increasing instability is starting to make it almost useless Unfortunate especially for a rather pricey app Whatever the startup Searching for Air Console is supposed to be doing the only effect it seems to have is to crash the app Many users like me cannot use wireless devices in our environment so the RedPark cable option is perfect I am hoping they turn their attention to basic stability More and more I must fall back to SecureCRT to connect using my RedPark cable I end up using which one doesn t crash             Could be awesome with stability improvements -=Anubus=-
It s great when it s working but it crashes a lot Both with the cable and the Bluetooth serial modules it crashes whenever you switch to another app say to check email or a browser will sometimes crash while you re using it it s just very unstable That said I haven t found anything that fills the niche other than this app and the Bluetooth serial modules         Great except for crashes Kyreeth
I am a network engineer and I use this along with the get console dongle to wirelessly serial into switches It s awesome I use it with my phone and my iPad speaking of it would be nice if it supported split screen with Safari on the iPad Pro                     Essential the difference between a toy and a tool TechRawle
Great App with best features like as Dropbox Sync copy paste and more New edition is BUG free Thanks alot Be connected                     Great App for Network Admins Bmansourifar
I have to agree here Redpark cable works for serial not sure if they re making a non 30 pin cable yet Can t switch out of the app though Current version for iOS 9 1 crashes immediately on ssh attempt         Multitasking Dclangst
This program needs to support the iPhone 6 6 and iPad Pro screen sizes as well as split screen and multitasking             Needs screen size support update N328KF
I m a network admin and have worked with lots of terminal apps on many platforms from procomm plus and an app to get console sessions into Cisco gear on my PalmPilot to more recently iSSH TouchTerm and SecureCRT for Mac and iPad I really like the Get Console advanced options to import saved sessions from SecureCRT and PuTTY but unfortunately that feature doesn t work I like that I can sync sessions between my iPad and IPhone with iCloud but that doesn t work either but Dropbox does mostly I like that I can create login scripts which does work but a script can only be used for one device then it disappears and has to be re created from scratch I like that it saves passwords but you can only recall them from the iPad app not the iPhone and the passwords don t appear to sync Generally the app seems to work it will give a console session via ssh and the red park console adapter cable works for direct serial connections but it is clunky has lost my saved sessions several times is unintuative and just tough to get set up I haven t attempted transferring capture files and configs I ve been so annoyed at trying to just get connections set up I haven t gotten that far         Almost awesome ChrisHappel
especially if you have a keyboard I ve got a great clamshell bluetooth keyboard case and Get Console is nearly unusable with a keyboard If you start the app in landscape mode it comes up portrait and the screen refuses to adjust regardless how much you rotate back and forth The app insists it be used in portrait and there s nothing obvious or easy within the menus to make it easy to rotate The menu structure is confusing you will create a multitude of new connections all named New SSH Connection or telnet Renaming is not intuitive or obvious The big selling point to me is the web interface for providing remote access and I like that but it can t help me get past the UI problems Fix that and I d give it 4 stars maybe 5 but if I can t use it then it s zero stars     Was great now barely usable QuidamBrujah
Whether you have the serial cable or are just looking for a telnet SSH client it s the only one I ve found that satisfactorily supports an external keyboard Has a good no frills and frills mode Highly recommend                     Excellent all around JoeGuru
Does not work on iPhone 6 Plus     iPhone 6 fail AlienPresence
I ve used it wth my iPad 2 Worked okay Doesn t connect at all with my iPhone 6     Does not work with my iPhone 6 Txsdave
Been using this app at work on my iPad 2 ever since it first came out Honestly it gets better with every upgrade I recently upgraded to iOS 8 and I m now finding I m unable to connect to cisco switches with it I ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no improvement I ve had the cable for awhile so it s possible the cable has finally worn out I d hang off on upgrading to iOS 8 if you rely on this tool The only other problem I have with the app is that the last line of the screen is always covered by the keyboard                 Love the app however TimWalshMi
I use Get Console on my iPad2 along with the Airconsole adapter The app is great It supports a Connection Manager which allows directories so that you can organize your connection objects Each connection object allows custom settings and you can create a login script and assign it to the connection As soon as the connection comes up the script logs you in There is a lot more you can do with the scripting engine besides login scripts It is fully integrated with Dropbox and you can configure it to automatically log every connection and save it to dropbox There is CMD button that allow you to save often used commands for quick entry and you can save complete text files in dropbox and instantly paste them into a device or paste what is in the clipboard It supports Telnet SSH and Serial using either the RedPark cable or the AirConsole The Airconsole is the best 70 tool I have ever purchased It provides a serial console connection over wifi But it also has an Ethernet jack so you can connect to a console port for serial and then connect the ethernet port for TFTP built into the Get Console App Plus it has a DHCP server built in You can connect the Airconsole Ethernet port to any device that is configured for DHCP and it will hand out an address Now you just connect your iPad or laptop to the Airconsole and you have Ethernet access to the device I use it to configure iLo on HP servers all the time Battery life is about 5 hours but you can charge it while using it Almost any device with a USB port will charge it so it s never a problem in a rack with servers With the Airconsole device I don t need to bring a laptop any longer I have Serial telnet and SSH right on the iPad with a great application If I have wifi at the site I don t even need the Airconsole Plus it works over VPN so if the site doesn t have wifi but I have 3G coverage I just connect the VPN and use telnet SSH for existing switches I have only had a couple questions and the developers were very quick to respond At one point I smashed the usb serial cable in the hinge of a wall mount rack and they gave me a big discount on the replacement I purchased an app that scans the network using SNMP At a customer site I run that grab the output and create the connection objects in a short time                     Fantastic App and support Rikosintie
I can connect wirelessly with Aircosole and this app You guys did a great job huge time saver Nothing else like it on the market                     Fantastic Job i_heart_k-fed
The Cable I bought is very fragile where it connects to the iPad Also the latency in typing will drive you crazy The best part of this app is I can capture the console out put and email it to my computer             Fragile cable glitchy keyboard SitWalkStand
This app is wonderful Ive been using it with ipad mini and redpark lightning console cable Not only is it great for console use but its by far the best telnet app I ve seen on any tablet The ability to create your own scripts is amazing and makes for quick and easy logons not to mention you can arrange all the saved connections by folder It can log activity allow remote seasions and act as a tftp server What more could you ask for The reviews complaining about the keyboard being in front of the active command line just need to dock the keyboard This app is worth the money no doubt about it If you work with switches and routers often then there is no reason to hesitate about buying this app and the redpark cable                     Great app Cisconetworkadmin
I highly recommend this app for any consultant sys admin network admin or anyone in need of a serial connection This app is great when used with the Redpark C2 RJ45V cable and adapter to serial I used to cringe when I needed to take out my laptop and USB to serial adaptor Great job on the app                     Great app AI_IT
There are so many great things its hard to list What I like best is to be able to join a remote console connection over 3G I wish the cable were cheaper it really should be 5 or so The price of the app is totally justified With cheap cables I d give one to everyone with a phone remote console on demand                     Great product Skymeat
Installed on an iPhone 4S with ios6 and it doesn t work at all It feels like a fake app No character echo of what I type app crashes app doesn t connect Ripped off for 10 dollars similar experience with tinyterm older version that shouldn t even be in the store All very disappointing     Yet another ssh app that doesn t work TechClock
Only reason I have iPad was to use this app Unfortunately it seems you need an external keyboard to prevent on screen keyboard from sitting on top of active cursor If you lower screen rollback and use in portrait mode it works but I need the scroll back Great program other than the fact that it is useless to me         Clitchy keyboard Runaground
Amazing say good bye to carrying my laptop around to fix all my access points and Cisco switches Works smoothly as promised and is customizable Would recommend strongly                     Buy buy buy Jo0oshhhh
Ssh etc nice Love the cut and paste Bought it to use with serial console cable and it does not recognize the cable The app store blurb references the db9 cable but when you go to their website zoops sorry only works with the rj cable     positively will not work with redpark cables HiroReason
This app works as advertised for the most part however clipboard support for loading config files is a little tedious the copy to clipboard option does not work You have to open a switch config for example in another program and then paste to console Support from dev via website e mail is also painfully slow             Close to perfection Archain07
For serial connectivity only feature of app I tested this app works flawlessly I was able to make a quick terminal game ASCII Space Invaders via UART connectivity with an ARM LPC2148 micro controller Printing on iPad made it that much more fun                     Great for serial connectivity Bo1963
When I first purchased this app and the cable I ran in to a couple issues The first and in my opinion most important part of any app thing I discovered is that the developer is both actively working on improvements and very responsive to issues and ideas You can feel comfortable knowing that your 65 investment in the app and cable are going to be viable for some time to come That said the limitation in the current version is with the particular SSH implementation It does not support v1 which yes I do run in to The dev has informed me this is changing soon though with more features on the way That is about the only limitation I have found The tie in to Dropbox ability to script import putty and SecureCRT profiles built in password manager etc all set this app apart from anything else in the app store Another cool feature also unique is the ability to share a session over the web with an engineer that is sitting remote In the real world that can be very useful I look forward to future improvements and would not hesitate to recommend this app to anyone                     Good App with More on the Way UpstateChris
I would give it five stars if it would save IP addresses When you SSH or Telnet to a switch or router you use IP addresses and not Hostnames Hostnames are good for websites and not switches or routers You can use IP addresses but it does not save them                 Sr Network Engineer JonhR
This is hands down the best terminal app out there ive pretty much tried them all of them now does serial connections telnet ssh imports your existing sessions from SecureCRT and Putty I had 300 saved connections in SecureCRT on my laptop now all in Get Console I havent had it crash on me yet This latest version does Dropbox for log files etc and also finally does multisession and also does full terminal scripting Ive used the fancy screen sharing thing as well which worked well All in all very good Keep up the good work                     Get Console is very good horation
I am a Cisco Academy Instructor and this app has opened many doors for instuction I just got the app yesterday and the students barely let ME play with it I teach 11th and 12th graders and it is pretty hard to actually impress them since they have grown up using technology but they LOVED this app Some of their comments It was AWESOME Easy to use pretty cool Can we all get iPads now and get rid of the computers I plan to use this to view student configs while they are doing labs I can check for correctness change configs as desired without them seeing what I am doing and allow students to troubleshoot other students configs                     Great App Mrs. DG
I ve tried many console applications for iOS but none that combine a hardware serial adapter with an excellent telnet SSH implementation The features within the console software are clearly well thought out and the product of working with people who actually need and use this type of software                     Awesome Console Application Cisco Nate
I have this app but it doesn t currently support 115 200 baud I have been told this will be supported with the next cable using USB This will be a great asset to the design engineering community replacing putty and USB to Serial cables on laptops Good Job Chris                 Some cool features coming Fritzplace
This app is very neat and simply does the job As a heavy iPad user this saves me from having to carry a laptop to the datacenter                 It just works Elag1224
This app is a fantastic console app for the ipad iphone Works great on all my equipment and while i know theres a lot of comments to the use of redpark rj45 cable i prefer that cable as its a smaller easier to pack cable Its easy to have some adapters at hand for it Also good to mention this works on Motorola tut system s Direct serial works amazing telnet and ssh both do as well As a future improvement it would be great to see an option to proxy for individual saved telnet ssh configs                     Fantastic App dcrichter
I tested 1 3 successful both on the iphone and ipad Unfortunately Apple s red buttons aka notifications made me update exactly 4days before the 1st field use leaving the brick in the hotel It was a desaster Ipad version kept crashing and iphone version was almost unresponsive Had to call in co worker to be my eye and fingers I would have expected an app aiming for the professional in the field more tested before launching So beware and test after each new version has been released     1 5 disappointing Lt.Worf
Alt and CTRL on Bluetooth yay                     Yay Thoddiver
I can finally stop carrying a laptop everywhere I go This app works better than advertised and performance is outstanding The devs are constantly updating and enhancing this app Love the telnet and ssh support and look forward to the new features incoming versions Seriously if you work with Cisco and now HP Foundry and Brocade buy this app You won t be sorry                     Free from a laptop at last SteveBlizzard
I was initially disapointed over the fact that the DB9 cable from redpark would not work with this app After having to send it back for an exchange of the RJ45 console cable I was pleased to see how well it worked As silly as it sounds data loading across the screen loads smoothly Having played with it for about a week I already see myself using it more and more with my ipad to do quick configs I have a zagg bluetooth keyboard for my ipad as such it s turning into my cisco gear toolkit being able to quickly ssh to any router firewall linux machine You have your stand stuff you d expect including saved connections configuring the look feel and more Overall its a win for me mainly for the RJ45 console cable Just dont make the same mistake most of us did and get the DB9 cable first as it just wont work due to apple policy                     It Works Great Edgar Valdes
This is the best app for a Network Engineer Why the negative reviews The app does exactly what it says my only suggestion to the developers would be to add drop box support and allow multiple files selection when uploading cmd scripts                     Best Networking App Kratos-Q
Lots of us want this app to work with both Redpark cables including the C2 db9 Please enable it Your comments now at least confine red park compatibility as to the c2 rj45 but they did not make that clear     please don t limit it positiveuser
It seems to work with 1 model of Redpark serial device but not the other It is worthless to me     Does not work with Redpark c2db9 n5zipper
It s a touch slow but works well Better than carrying a laptop all around                 Works well KF7EEC
Works ok but there are 2 problems 1 Causes a iPhone notification alert that keeps popping up that say this accessory not optimized for this device on iPhone 4 2 It needs to have the option to disable the remote logging function completely Maybe there is some funny business going on here with sending log file to some remote server Who knows             Ok but some concerns N3t Aholic
I have been looking for an app that would allow me to carry only my iPad to do minor config changes on switches routers and access points So far I m happy with the results of Get Console Keep up the good work                 Great App Netwrk_eng203
This app and cable combo are awesome I bought two It allows me to very easily stage lab and customer equipment I am a Cisco field SE without dragging around my laptop and serial adapter Worth every penny                     Extremely handy app KidGloves
Great console app but if you switch out to another app then back the session doesnt really resume You have to disconnect and reconnect to get the cli back           Multitasking a struggle
You cant use a standard cable camera connection kit USB cable for the newer devices The app also checks to see if you have their cable           Need to have a 70 cable
I know this is a pricey console solution just for Cisco devices So I tested it with Juniper SSG and Juniper M40 It works on them as well So Im guessing the combination of console app and redpark cable will work with other network gear that has RJ45 console connection I will keep you posted on my progress              It works so far
This is hands down the best terminal app out there ive pretty much tried them all of them now does serial connections telnet ssh imports your existing sessions from SecureCRT and Putty I had 300 saved connections in SecureCRT on my laptop now all in Get Console I havent had it crash on me yet This latest version does Dropbox for log files etc and also finally does multisession and also does full terminal scripting Ive used the fancy screen sharing thing as well which worked well All in all very good Keep up the good work                 Get Console is very good

When I first tried it on my 2924 switch nothing came up so I was a bit worried So then I tried it with my 2610 routers and all worked well Found out my console port on the 2924 doesnt work anymore I brought it to work and tested it on my Brocade 4802POE switches and FWS 648 GB switches All worked awesome I love this app This is fantastic                 Exactly as advertised and a little more
This app is very neat and simply does the job As a heavy iPad user this saves me from having to carry a laptop to the datacenter              It just works

You have to buy the app then pay for the use monthly in the future and the app checks to see if you are using their cable You can do all of this for just the price of a cable with a jail broken iPad     Wow
I use GetConsole on my iPad2 along with the Airconsole adapter The app is great It supports a Connection Manager which allows directories so that you can organize your connection objects Each connection object allows custom settings and you can create a login script and assign it to the connection As soon as the connection comes up the script logs you in There is a lot more you can do with the scripting engine besides login scripts It is fully integrated with Dropbox and you can configure it to automatically log every connection and save it to dropbox There is CMD button that allow you to save often used commands for quick entry and you can save complete text files in dropbox and instantly paste them into a device or paste what is in the clipboard It supports Telnet SSH and Serial using either the RedPark cable or the AirConsole The Airconsole is the best 70 tool I have ever purchased It provides a serial console connection over wifi But it also has an Ethernet jack so you can connect to a console port for serial and then connect the ethernet port for TFTP built into the GetConsole App Plus it has a DHCP server built in You can connect the Airconsole Ethernet port to any device that is configured for DHCP and it will hand out an address Now you just connect your iPad or laptop to the Airconsole and you have Ethernet access to the device I use it to configure iLo on HP servers all the time Battery life is about 5 hours but you can charge it while using it Almost any device with a USB port will charge it so its never a problem in a rack with servers With the Airconsole device I dont need to bring a laptop any longer I have Serial telnet and SSH right on the iPad with a great application If I have wifi at the site I dont even need the Airconsole Plus it works over VPN so if the site doesnt have wifi but I have 3G coverage I just connect the VPN and use telnetSSH for existing switches I have only had a couple questions and the developers were very quick to respond At one point I smashed the usbserial cable in the hinge of a wall mount rack and they gave me a big discount on the replacement I purchased an app that scans the network using SNMP At a customer site I run that grab the output and create the connection objects in a short time                 Fantastic App and support

Only works on consoles that act like cisco devices It will not work as a general terminal to a serial port although it should be trivial for them to fix that           Not a terminal
I highly recommend this app for any consultant sys admin network admin or anyone in need of a serial connection This app is great when used with the Redpark C2RJ45V cable and adapter to serial I used to cringe when I needed to take out my laptop and USB to serial adaptor Great job on the app                 Great app
When I first purchased this app and the cable I ran in to a couple issues The first and in my opinion most important part of any app thing I discovered is that the developer is both actively working on improvements and very responsive to issues and ideas You can feel comfortable knowing that your 65 investment in the app and cable are going to be viable for some time to come That said the limitation in the current version is with the particular SSH implementation It does not support v1 which yes I do run in to The dev has informed me this is changing soon though with more features on the way That is about the only limitation I have found The tie in to Dropbox ability to script import putty and SecureCRT profiles built in password manager etc all set this app apart from anything else in the app store Another cool feature also unique is the ability to share a session over the web with an engineer that is sitting remote In the real world that can be very useful I look forward to future improvements and would not hesitate to recommend this app to anyone                 Good App with More on the Way

Works ok but there are 2 problems 1 Causes a iPhone notification alert that keeps popping up that say this accessory not optimized for this device on iPhone 4 2 It needs to have the option to disable the remote logging function completely Maybe there is some funny business going on here with sending log file to some remote server Who knows           Ok but some concerns
The Cable I bought is very fragile where it connects to the iPad Also the latency in typing will drive you crazy The best part of this app is I can capture the console out put and email it to my computer           Fragile cable glitchy keyboard
Only reason I have iPad was to use this app Unfortunately it seems you need an external keyboard to prevent on screen keyboard from sitting on top of active cursor If you lower screen rollback and use in portrait mode it works but I need the scroll back Great program other than the fact that it is useless to me        Clitchy keyboard
especially if you have a keyboard Ive got a great clamshell bluetooth keyboard case and Get Console is nearly unusable with a keyboard If you start the app in landscape mode it comes up portrait and the screen refuses to adjust regardless how much you rotate back and forth The app insists it be used in portrait and theres nothing obvious or easy within the menus to make it easy to rotate The menu structure is confusing you will create a multitude of new connections all named New SSH Connection or telnet Renaming is not intuitive or obvious The big selling point to me is the web interface for providing remote access and I like that but it cant help me get past the UI problems Fix that and Id give it 4 stars maybe 5 but if I cant use it then its zero stars     Was great now barely usable
This app and cable combo are awesome I bought two It allows me to very easily stage lab and customer equipment I am a Cisco field SE without dragging around my laptop and serial adapter Worth every penny                 Extremely handy app
Whether you have the serial cable or are just looking for a telnetSSH client its the only one Ive found that satisfactorily supports an external keyboard Has a good nofrills and frills mode Highly recommend                 Excellent all around
I can connect wirelessly with Aircosole and this app You guys did a great job huge time saver Nothing else like it on the market                 Fantastic Job
I am a Cisco Academy Instructor and this app has opened many doors for instuction I just got the app yesterdayand the students barely let ME play with it I teach 11th and 12th graders and it is pretty hard to actually impress them since they have grown up using technology but they LOVED this app Some of their comments It was AWESOME Easy to use pretty cool Can we all get iPads now and get rid of the computers I plan to use this to view student configs while they are doing labs I can check for correctness change configs as desired without them seeing what I am doing and allow students to troubleshoot other students configs                 Great App
Does not work on iPhone 6 Plus     iPhone 6 fail
This app is wonderful Ive been using it with ipad mini and redpark lightning console cable Not only is it great for console use but its by far the best telnet app Ive seen on any tablet The ability to create your own scripts is amazing and makes for quick and easy logons not to mention you can arrange all the saved connections by folder It can log activity allow remote seasions and act as a tftp server What more could you ask for The reviews complaining about the keyboard being in front of the active command line just need to dock the keyboard This app is worth the money no doubt about it If you work with switches and routers often then there is no reason to hesitate about buying this app and the redpark cable                 Great app
Ssh etc nice Love the cut and paste Bought it to use with serial console cable and it does not recognize the cable The app store blurb references the db9 cable but when you go to their websitezoops sorry only works with the rj cable     positively will not work with redpark cables
For serial connectivity only feature of app I tested this app works flawlessly I was able to make a quick terminal game ASCII Space Invaders via UART connectivity with an ARM LPC2148 micro controller Printing on iPad made it that much more fun                 Great for serial connectivity
The proprietary check for Cisco only is bs Will not connect to HP which I found out after I popped for it and the special cable Got me once never again Off to roll my own     Take a pass on thus until they make it a TRUE console cable
Ive used it wth my iPad 2 Worked okay Doesnt connect at all with my iPhone 6     Does not work with my iPhone 6
Lots of us want this app to work with both Redpark cables including the C2db9 Please enable it Your comments now at least confine red park compatibility as to the c2rj45 but they did not make that clear     please dont limit it
I can finally stop carrying a laptop everywhere I go This app works better than advertised and performance is outstanding The devs are constantly updating and enhancing this app Love the telnet and ssh support and look forward to the new features incoming versions Seriously if you work with Cisco and now HP Foundry and Brocade buy this app You wont be sorry                 Free from a laptop at last
Works like a charm even on Dell switches I expect the shared connection will only work with Cisco switches though as I can connect but no commands work on the Dell Still a fantastic product                 Just in time
I would give it five stars if it would save IP addresses When you SSH or Telnet to a switch or router you use IP addresses and not Hostnames Hostnames are good for websites and not switches or routers You can use IP addresses but it does not save them              Sr Network Engineer
Alt and CTRL on Bluetooth yay                 Yay
