Geopher Lite is a while-you-are-out geocaching application. Quickly check your current location via geocaching.com for geocaches in your area with the search button. Then type in a target latitude and longitude and let Geopher Lite`s ...
I just found a very challenging cache with it I like that you can use Google maps driving directions to get close and then switch back to the application for the search on foot The red arrow should point to the destination instead of wherever its set to point now or better yet make it selectable as to where it points Its almost good enough that I wont be needing my handheld GPS anymore              Quite Nice
I just started GeoCacheing I love this app It quickly finds caches near you and then you type the coordinates into the box Then off you go Some people complained about having to type the box where you have to type is right above the info on the webpage So Simple I have found that sometimes the GPS compass freezes for a few seconds ten catches up maybe this is function of the Iphone My family and I have found 5 already Love it                 Great APP
I wanted a simple application into which I could imput longitude and latitude and the app would give me a compass like bearing and distance It didnt work at all I had four bars on my phone but the recharge rate was so slow as to make it useless     useless
I took the app out for a test today and now I have some input Id like to share The current coordinates were great to see along side of the target location I compared them with my Garmin Nuvi 350 and they were right on the money so if the correct coordinates are given I was able to find the cache The coordinates saved when I quit the app NICE ADDITION The problems I noticed was that the map displayed the target pin on the closest road available and not on the actual coordinates When I found my first cache the distance to target meter read 98 kilometers so Im not sure what was going on with that but the coordinates were correct I think it would be nice to be able to change the units from kilometers to feet and I would like to see the map on the main page instead of the compass This is a decent app so here is my two bucks well worth it but it still needs some tweaking and Im looking forward to the updates Keep up the good work           Nice app but still needs tweaking
I started Geocaching using just the website and writing down coordinates before I left the house which was fine but it was slow and hard to reference once out in the field I now solely use Geopher on my iPhone 3G for caching There are many ways to hunt a cache and if you have a GPS capable phone I highly suggest an app As it opens and you choose new search it will find everything near your current location so I can be anywhere and know all of the caches near me within two clicks If I go out for a day of Geocaching with friends I rely on my iPhone and find caches just as quickly as their GPS devices              Locked on target
We travel on the bikes a lot around the states and I find this app really useful I likes the simple fact that it saves me a lot of time looking up caches in the locations we stop at                 Well worth the money
Needs more integration After going to Groundspeak and finding a cache the program needs to pick up the coords Also the compass needs to float meaning that the compass needs to be live and the arrow pointing to location move according to real time movement              Pretty good
Bought the app yesterday and when geocaching today Had a great time I finally figured out that if you use the satelite view on the Map screen under Set Target you can easily get your bearings and home in on the cache Best 199 Ive ever spent                 2 Thumbs Up
Bravo to the developer for this and entering me into the world of Geocaching The only thing that would remove one star from this is the compass its not exactly helpful and not everyone knows which way north is Get the compass to work somehow and this would be six stars if possible No fault of the app the iPhone sometimes appears off a little or like it takes awhile to tell you your coordinates Makes me realize why theres no turnbyturn application for the iPhone yet Somewhere too theres a review online of this app saying you wouldnt want to take your iPhone into the woods or something ridiculous Three of the caches Ive seeked were in the deep woods granted I have a rubber case for the iPhone but its probably as durable as the average consumer GPS just with one heckuva lot more functionality                 cool app
I would like to see a few changes but WOW This app works great The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is the stationary compass and I wish you didnt have to type the last 23s of the Lat Long I was able to find a new geocache without a computer OR a GPSr A great app for the avid geocacher who is always wondering hmmmm I wonder if there is a cache around here for 2 you cant go wrong with this app           A must have for the avid geocacher
What I want is a way to not have to load the whole geocaching site Another would be to not have to type inthe coordinates And maybe make the arrow update with your movements a little more oftenthanks           Needs improvements please
This is one great app I go caching with my buddies a lot and have wanted to get one of those expensive gps systems for myself but now I have one for a couple bucks that has specific caching features Awesome Ive read your weblog and I see you are trying to add a north finding compass I dont think the iPhone has that ability yet but an easy fix would be adding a sun compass feature like on compass free It works well but it needs northern vs southern hemisphere support as well as daylight savings support here in California it thinks the sun should be an hour off from where it is Another cool feature Id like to see is a built in map that shows the target terrain and a breadcrumb trail to show progress Great work Keep it up              Great app
Not good as I had hoped Hoping future updates work with google maps so you can see where you are in relation to the cache           Not bad
I purchased this app last year shortly after reading about it in the geocaching com forums I remember the programmer was having some issues with Groundspeaks license particularly about screen scraping the coordinates directly into the app But what has happened to the development of this app Has the programmer been busy Has the programmer lost interest It has been almost a year since my purchase and there has been only one update that I can recall The program is NOT perfect and there are other features that have been requested It sure would be nice if the developer were more active How bout some updates        Updates
I just started geocahing I dont have a dedicated GPSr yet so Im making do with the iPhone and it does make do However the geocaching website is poorly designed large and unwieldy to use even from a notebook its unbearable from the iPhone Having geopher pull up nearby listings based on current location is a welcome relief Addtionally for someone without a dedicated GPSr displaying my current coordinates in real time is also appreciated I havent really tried out the arrow yet but Im not concerned I like walking until my little blue dot is on my targets little red pin in google maps anyway Which brings me to my wishlist Dear Jeremy I know from your blog your working on saving target data between sessions This is a must for user who will be switching back and forth from google maps Can you also include a button to launch google maps with the target location already entered That would be schweet Keep up the good work and good luck with TPTB Please find inclosed 199 for the cause less apples cut Thanks rusane aka steamie           Im giving you 2 for the cause
This App was worth the 2 bucks and more Im ending up on top of Caches Switches easily from map to compass and lets you find caches when youre just hangin out anywhere              This thing is GREAT
My iPhone is my first GPS device and Ive wanted to get into geocaching Now Ive found 5 caches in the last day using only my iPhone and Geopher Lite Thanks so much for this app Keep up the good work I cant wait to see what the updates bring              Fantastic
Very basic application anything that is really cool will be in the fullmain version You can wait        Wait for the Full Application
This is a great little app Just being able to have an app that lists the caches closest to my current location is worth the price of admission The authors are certainly listening to what we want in a geocaching app Ive found it great at finding caches close to where I am Inputting the coords isnt nearly as much hassle as I thought it would be Nice to be able to log the find from the app Would be nice if it would take us directly to the log page without having to enter the waypoint first just let us log the current target Once Ive found the closest cache that I want to go after I simply click on the googlemaps link toward the bottom of the cache page and use the sat view Its gotten me to within 10 feet of the cache every time              Keeps getting better
Its okay I am sure the new version will be better I think the interface could be more exciting It would be nice not to have to enter the coods by hand Also once you are on a GEO page you lose the navigation        User
I have really gotten into geocaching beacuse of this app I has been so easy to look up a cache virtually anywhere and not having to waste paper So far I am extremely pleased with app as a stand alone but I occasionally bring my Garmin along as a back up You will be pleased with it                 Makes finding caches lots of fun
First off when I tried to download it for 99 cents it said the app is being modified and try again later Well I did and it went up to 199 It still seemed like a good app for the price so I tried it anyway Wow what a letdown The compass is completely useless All this app is is just a shell for the website The only good thing it does is it uses the gps to speed up the search process Overall Im let down and would like a refund     Wow what a waste
This app works pretty good for a lite version however still needs a lot of work I think the main change should be to include a working compass so that the arrow can actually point to where you are supposed to go rather than pointing just in relation to the north sometimes you dont know where the north is           Compass
Very excited about this APP I am new to Geocaching and found my first cache with this APP and the Iphone 3G Needs some small improvements but developer seems to be working on these Thanks for a great APP              Great App
We down loaded this this past weekend because my 7 year old read about geocacing in Ranger Rick and wanted to try it out It was a blast thanks to your app The current compass image was a bit confusing is the red arrow pointing north or at the target and at times we moved faster than the iphone was updating but it DEFINITELY worked and we found the cache It was well worth the 199 It would also be nice to have instructions on how to enter coordinates more easily accessible rather than exiting the program and being directed to your web page Still after trying this out I think well be using this alot the whole family mom two boys 5 7 and our yellow lab lyle had a great timeand a great walk in the woods              First time geocaching
Before realizing I could enter coordinates into the maps app I dropped two dollars on this app so I could finish a cache btw groundspeaks geocache App is great just missing a search by coordinate feature While geopher can get the job done it certainly takes it time The search would always take forever and my keyboard would freeze up and lag when entering coordinates I know that its not an expensive app but I get better quality out of free apps This ones definitely not worth the money or frustration Im thoroughly disapponted     Not worth any money
I love that we can go geocaching on the fly which is usually how we decide were going The app updates since I originally bought it have been really really great It updates more often than before and seemed more than sufficient the last few times weve been out it feels less cumbersome to choose caches and enter their coordinates love being able to see the distances in yardsfeet etc Obviously itd be great to not have to enter the coordinates but I can see why that doesnt look like its going to happen any time soon Giving it five stars for a great job with price updates and features Keep up the great work and looking forward to other updates Love it                 Great app and a nobrainer for the price
This is much more useful than using Safari It will find the nearest geocaches wherever you are If you have any spare time and get the itch youll always have know where to look I used this for my first geocache There was one about 300ft from my living room This app took me right to it with no problem well some problem getting my exact location but that was the iPhones fault not the apps As long as youre not near a lot of buildings the GPS works great on iPhone I definitely recommend this app Even if you use a different GPS device this is priceless for finding geocaches and it has a very attractive UI too                 Very handy
I have been caching for 6 years and have moved from gps to gps now that I have a IPone 3g thought I would give this a try mostly for the support of the program Here is to further updates              Give it the old college try
Dont waste your money app is crap     Southsidefire29
This is a great app Ive had it for several months now I love the ability to find nearby caches and then easily get back to the cache page to log the find just remember to type the cache ID into the app before jumping to the map Sure would like auto filling of the coords but I understand the legal issue              Having Fun With This
I use Geopher Lite several times a day to find geaocaches near wherever I happen to be Im relatively new to geocaching and am having a lot of fun Thanks to this app I have no need for a standalone handheld GPS unit The UI is intuitive and has been improved with each software update                 Outstanding value and frequently used
I decided to give this app a chance and boy I am glad I did I launched it in yesterday on the way back home to Riverside from Comic Con in San diego Was able to find a cache in a strange town along the way using only my iPhone so that should be proof enough that it works The window that opens at the bottom is indeed small but it is just like any other window on an iPhone it is clickable and spreadable to enlarge so I had no problem reading the coordinates to enter into the split screen above By the way I have already invested in a car phone charger for my iPhone got a package deal at Target for about 30 so id have a car charger and extra wall charger at work the iPhone gobble up the batteries no matter what app you are using Thanks for this handy application                 The right app for a fun sport
I purchased this app to show my support for an app I would love to see expand and become my geocache solution Keep up the good work              Purchased for support
This app is more accurate than the new one by groundspeak I got within 20 of a cache while the other app still showed 1 mile when I was within 100 Cant wait for your new version              better than others
Its so nice being able to get a quick view of whats aroundno matter where I am The only thing I would add is some sort of found function I am always loosing track of what caches I find in a day maybe a check box that would remind me which ones Ive found Anyway great application and I cant wait for the new version           This is great
The compass is a handy little tool and the nearby cache feature is awesome Im not liking how you have to relogin on the geocache website when you go to and from the map though Cant wait for a better version           Good for 2
bought it to supporteagerly waiting the full version           Geocachers unite
Very helpful in finding caches close by and finding the nearest to write a log to Worth the 199 I dont use the phone to navigate to the cache but this does everything else TFTA Thanks For The App                 Nice
This is a good start Did my first cache with it today Like others I moved faster than the iPhone could update but it proved to be a really useful little tool Some obvious suggestions not all under your control include better ways to browse and store and log caches in your current location maybe even store parts of multi caches              Nice for starters
Dont use any other apps while geocaching with Geopher When you return your target location will have been reset to 0000 by 0000 Thats an unforgivable oversight and a dealbreaker for me     Doesnt save target location
At first there were some minor issues with this app but it has evolved very nicely One thing that I really like about this app has the ability to filter out finds which is a huge plus Geopher Lite makes a great introduction to the hobby of geocaching for the casual or first time cacher and I would highly recommend it              A good casual caching tool
When I read that you have to input your own coordinates I avoided getting this app I didnt realize that it is on a split screen I assumed that you had to go between 2 screens It turned out to be incredibly easy The compass wasnt a problem either I could easily figure put which way was north I am so happy to be able to geocache on the fly Thanks for a great app              Better than I thought
Tried out this app this morning found 3 caches as I was out doing some errands It wont replace my Garmin but it is perfect when youve got a little time and want to see whats in the area Paired up with a small 5 key chain compass I had no difficulty getting the iPhone pointed North so the arrow lead me right to the caches May just be the BEST 199 I have ever spent There is still room for improvement many enhancements so I do hope the app gets an update but it will stay on my iPhone Thanks                 Very handy little app
So I have used this app and the ten dollar one I love this one It takes a little longer to get the coords because u have to physically type them in but hey its worth every penny of u have a lil patience it has gotten me to 20 caches easily so far              Love
This is the first review I have written for an app for the iPhone Im doing it after reading the developers blog in greedy anticipation of future updates I have been geocaching for a little over a year now and this hobby was one of my main reasons for purchasing an iPhone This app is a very usable implementation of an allinone geocaching solution Yes of course there are things that can be made better about it the rotational compass was first on my list until I found out how to test the beta version of this feature It will be an excellent improvement once it is fully working All that being said I would almost recommend that the developer focus more on finalizing the full version rather than continuing to update the lite I am a web designer and realize the frustration you must be experiencing dealing with both Groundspeak and the App Stores hurdles and hoops Anything that those of us who love your app can do to help petitioning Groundspeak comes to mind just Ley us know Great job though              Love where this is going
I got this to replace my beeline software on my mobile pc after getting the Iphone This app makes me miss paperless caching kudos for bing first and doing something for your fellow geocacher I was hoping to see some major updates before more competition comes out in the app store I soul like to import gpx files soon           ok but
I originally picked this application to support the cause and I must say I am surprised by some of the negative comments about this product For 2 bucks you get an application the greatly simplifies your geocaching by listing caches by distance from your current location Yes there are flaws however for the price point and convenience it is defiantly worth it While I do look forward to fixes in future updates I am pleased with the purchase               Support the cause
Groundspeak needs to get on board and come out with their own geocaching app But until then this app is worth it                 Awesome
Works as advertised Ive been dreaming of paperless caching for a long time This app goes even further with the ability to find caches wherever you find yourself Price is extremely reasonable Cant wait to see whats ahead Thanks for this              A Good First Version
