This app does a terrible job of implementing anything useful afforded by newsstand Not allowing issues to download in the background means that I have to keep the newsstand app open and active for 30 min while new issues download or the entire download will be lost In order to not waste my time staring at my downloading screen I have to change my iPad settings to never lock whenever I want to DL a new issue Allowing background data to download is a simple API afforded by newsstand and should be implemented for this to earn anything but a 1 star review I wont even get into any of the other usability issues like seeing straight up 404 error screens on the account page which required a complete uninstallreinstall to remedy at length Its a shame a publication that covers techrelated subject matter does such a terrible job of utilizing technology to its advantage     The Poor Reviews are Right

Unlike many reviewers on here Ive had no problem downloading an issue The problem lies in that once you open an issue to read it theres no way to close it No amount of creative swiping or tapping will open any sort of menu to return to the library nor will closing the newsstand app work Sorry friends youre stuck reading that same issue forever So what I need to delete and reinstall the app every time I want to read a new issue This is ridiculous and should be an easy fix Very disappointing since the mag looks great when it actually works properly FIX THIS        Fine when it works

The title says it all Ill tap a cover the circle will show up and start filling extremely slowly and then nothing The farthest the circle has filled is about 34 Then the app just hung Ive paid for my subscription so GI needs to step up and fix this     Cant even download an issue

If this magazine wasnt free with a discount card it would have folded a decade ago The app is terrible takes forever to download issues stops downloading when you leave the app or your screen locks and doesnt resume On top of that I dont want to read a magazine in the forced landscape mode Also be aware this magazine is owned by Gamestop theyre going to hype up crap games to ensure sales They are also big in the SJW mindset so I hope your idea of a great article is someone bashing the games industry because they fell over themselves to kiss Anita Sarkeesians butt     not worth it

Doesnt download     So bad

The same issue as everyone else Issue will not download in the background therefore I am forced to sit next to my screen and tap it every 45 seconds so my iPad doesnt go to sleep And because of how long the download takes its ridiculous Please fix this like the other digital magazines     How has download not been fixed yet

While I like the layout of the app for its simplicity and style It would be awesome if it could do what it should do and download the magazines I want since I have a subscription Ridiculously slow download speeds and the fact that it keeps canceling out half way through because the tablet goes to sleep seems inexcusable these days It seems like this would be a pretty big priority since it probably costs you folks money in some form for all of us to continually attempt to download parts of of the same magazine over and over     Theres promise

This app works perfectly as long as your Game Informer information is correct Before using this app I would recommend logging into game informer online and make sure it is showing uptodate subscription information If not call their help line and update your information At this point I was able to download any issue I wanted and read without incident Also note you cannot start downloading an issue then close the app the download will stop However you can begin a download then read an issue The download will continue in the background The app works as intended and works well Five stars                 Read this App is excellent

cant close the magazine on my iPad so therefore I cant look at any of the other issues that I PAID FOR There is no way to close out of the mAgazine that I have opened Even when I close the app and reboot it shows me the menu with all the mags but then it loads the June issue and wont let me go back and read another Please fix this its complete BS     FIX THIS APP

Once you open your first magazine you cant close it so no point wasting your money on a subscription     No subscribing

Let me start with This app is horrible Get the print copy of the magazine Now if youre like me and the GameStop employee set you up or switched you to digital on renewal there is a way to get issues to download without keeping the app open If you go to iPad settings then down to gameinformer there is an option called Background App Refresh Turn this off Good Luck     Fix for download issue

This app is so buggy and doesnt work correctly a lot of the time Next time im signing back up to receive paper copy as this app is crap and takes up a lot of space on your device with the digital magazines you cant read because it doesnt work     So buggy

Like everyone else here GI issues simply will not download Kind of hard to give this app any sort of rating when the most basic function it was designed to be used for doesnt even work     Downloads wont work

At first I was intimidated to go digital I was always a big fan of collecting the physical magazines Plus the mostly negative reviews prophesied doom for it Eventually I decided to go green and dive into the digital world expecting to split my head on a rock Surprisingly that didnt happen The storage size of each magazine is large This is a good thing and a bad thing Sometimes you will have to leave the app on for it to continue the download Even with my fast WiFi it took me a couple minutes to download each magazine The up side to this is the fact that you will have the ability to access decent quality videos within your reading which is very useful especially if you want to WATCH a gameplay rather than read about it If you are a graphics fanatic you will be slightly disappointed about the quality of the videos for they are not streaming super HD The controls threw me off guard because they have not been introduced properly At first I was lost on to how to access other magazine issues while reading a current one I eventually realize that the controls were explained in one of the first few pages of any magazine For anybody that will start reading the digital copies heres a HUGE tip HOLD on the page in order to have the menu pop up The magazine does not explain all the controls though which bothered me It did not explained that I can flip over multiple pages by swiping with two fingers instead of one The overall layout of every page was thought out and looks great Reading is very easy and enjoyable Even though the digital magazines has some flaws to it I definitely prefer it over my physical magazines The creators has done a great job My fellow readers do yourselves a favor and switch to digital Help saves some trees and enjoy reading              Very Underrated App

Only got the subscription because of the GameStop card Actually decide to read an issue and it wont download Worse its a problem thats been going on for a long time and you bozos wont fix it What contempt this magazine has for its customers     Useless

I thought it was just me who was having trouble downloading issues until I check out reviews here and see that this has been a problem for months Its really disappointing when you purchase a subscription and it wont even work This problem is a pretty big oversight on the part of GameInformer especially as you read countless reviews that state the same over the course of a few months     Still No Fix For Downloading Issues

This is by far one of them most buggy laggy and cumbersome apps Ive ever used Im constantly prompted to buy issues that I already own from my subscription Also after I download issues the next time I go back into the app it says that there are no issues on the device and I have to download them again The newest and most annoying problem far is now the app will not allow me to view issues on the stand It automatically loads up an old issue and will not allow me to exit or select a new issues Someone needs to fix this piece of crap now because this is beyond unusable and unacceptable     Broken slow and awful

Downloaded the app and cant even find it on my iPad After finally using the app and downloaded an issue it redirects me to newstand then redirects me back to the app Cant even read the issues     Worst app ever

Ignore the negative Nancy reviews this app is a fantastic way to enjoy GI Download speeds are fine tap the issue do something else for 90 seconds and done To close an issue tap and hold anywhere on the screen Maybe those reviewers having so many problems are using first gen iPads with DSL powered wifi If youve got modern tech this modern app is a joy                 Great app

This app is awful It takes forever to download a magazine If you leave the screen it starts the download over After it downloaded for me I couldnt read it It needs major work     Awful

This app doesnt work well for me It doesnt save my bookmarks More importantly it doesnt even show up on my desktop I have to go into newsstand to access it Boo I may be dumb about my old ipad2 but this is the only app I have issues with I should have kept my physical copy subscription     I love GameInformer but

Downloaded finally I cant get to my home screen I exit and go back into newsstand it goes to my issue thats current I cant download any more issues on my iPad Cant get to the menu either Is there a user guide and how do I get this to work Thankfully dont have to pay for thus        Could be a lot better

Actually using the app to read is a very nice experience But everything good about this app is countered but the most frustrating download issue Downloading takes forever which isnt necessarily a problem But when your download is cancelled every time the iPad automatically turns off the screen its infuriating Fix this bug now     Cant get past the download bug

I usually dont write reviews and when I do talk about stuff I give it the benefit and mention the good spots However this app is horrible Its virtually unusable Only once have I been able to download a magazine and look at it Every other time it doesnt open or Im stuck in a loop If you got this from Gamestop be glad you arent paying for the magazine     Horrible app

Like others have mentioned there are issues with the app not running in the background the download will stop if you dont leave the app open Whats worse the download is huge slow and sometimes they release updates that will make you redownload the issue I also wish the app did a better job of remembering where you left off without having to create and load bookmarks BTW managing bookmarks seems to have broken recently deleted bookmarks come back so your list can get huge I hope they improve it soon as it seems to only be getting more buggy and I havent noticed any improvements That being said the magazine is great and I really enjoy the digital format Being able to see more screenshots than the printed format allows having the trailer or video interview embedded into the article is great I wont go back to the print issues           Great magazine but app could be better

Been reading GI for years Absolutely love the magazine and content I also love reading on my iPad so this seemed like an easy winwin for me I CANNOT DOWNLOAD A SINGLE ISSUE I login fine see all my available issues fine I touch the issue I want to download and it starts downloading After several minutes of watching the download my issue stops downloading and I have to start at square one again After my 4th attempt today I decided to write this review So disappointed     Love Game Informer really hate this app

I have a lot to say about this app None of which is good 1 They make you choose between paper and digital copies 2 The app download speed is a joke It takes forever to download anything 3 Doesnt download in the background With my app I have needed to sit there and watch it download Or else it stops and I have to start it over 4 The navigation is bad Its confusing 5 The magazine doesnt support portrait orientation What is that He magazine is a great one that I would recommend to any gamer of any interest level This app on the other hand I wouldnt recommend to anyone     Great magazineatrocious app

Fix the download issue This is the first time Ive actually taken the time to review anything on the store thats how ridiculous this is Why pay good money for a magazine I cant read The app will not download issues in the background and always starts over each large download every time you try Wouldnt be so much an issue if each download wasnt about 10 minutes long which is well after the iPad shuts off automatically without use Poorly written app and needs fixed before myself and what seems like many spend any more money on it     As others have stated

Ive subscribed digitally since last October and it has not improved at all Im going back to paper copies when I renew my subscription        Great publication terrible app
