This app is very good It s worth buying if someone wants to work on this critical skill I would probably rate this 4 5 5 I have some recommendations to improve this app which would make it a joy to use Allow chromatic notes to be practiced exclusively and make the note bar reflect that by turning the notes into chromatic ones by default so the chromatic button is not necessary to press Allow simultaneous natural chromatic note practice which already exists but allow two separate note bars stacked on top of each other for both kinds of notes This way the chromatic button is not necessary This will improve reaction time since only one button press will be necessary for either note type instead of two buttons pressed with the added chromatic button Allow any notes to be specifically selected in the options menu through tapping them so users can choose any visual pattern to practice For instance I could select only specific notes in a diagonal line This challenges mental recall by forcing the brain to recognize the notes within a new pattern Add 7 and 8 string guitar layouts because extended range instruments are used a lot nowadays                 Quite well made Could use slight additions SurfingSerpent

It totally helps me recognize notes on the fretboard and it was well worth the money I know it works because I know I m acknowledging where I am on the FB when I play the guitar The learning comes out in my playing when I least expect it but I know it came from using this app Great for quick downtime learning while waiting in line waiting to pick up my kid whatever Easy to grab for a minute or waste a half hour with Could it be better Maybe but it doesn t need to be It s very useful as is Those I ve recommended it to also find it quite useful Fretboard knowledge It s necessary and knowledge is power This makes learning the fretboard and notes on a staff easy and I accept and appreciate the challenge I m only going to get faster and effortless recognition by using it more and I m stoked on that All my frets are green and I m motivated to get to black master Well done                     Love it Stiinky

I got this to work on my basic note recognition on the fretboard and to practice sight reading on a staff I was pleased to see it also can show you notes on the staff and then test how well you can find the corresponding notes on the fretboard Plus it has a side benefit This app has helped me to practice increasing my attention span a useful counterpoint to the short spurts of attention that social media and instant messaging apps tend to cater to All in all a great app                     Educational for sight reading and helps with overall concentration Ashiko West

I ve purchased a lot of guitar apps that I end up either never using or being underwhelmed by This is not one of those apps I have been playing guitar for 6 months and I am pretty familiar with the notes in the first position However there s a big difference between knowing notes in order vs instant recall For fluid playing you need instant recall and this app is perfect for that After a few weeks of this app I think my speed will be much better This is especially true since I use standard notation more often than TAB Highly recommended                     Fantastic Xarethis

In the Name Note game I would like to hear the note when it appears not when I select it This visual auditory reinforcement would be a big help As it is now when you tap the note the dot immediately changes and the note sounds so I m making an incorrect association between the sound of the note and the visual indication In the Find Note game I would like the option of seeing no dots on the fretboard so that I am forced to find the note without any help The app could use a bit of updating as others have suggested             Good app two suggestions atom_ant

I have tried just about all the fretboard trainers on the App Store and this is by far the best and one of the cheaper paid ones It has not been updated for awhile and could use some new features and maybe a make over but this is a solid app Don t waste your money just get this one Also developer please revisit and give it some new features such as goals more than four speeds maybe actual display real or something more creative A make over would be nice Again though this is a five star app                     Old and updated but still the best Kardjunkie

I am fairly terrible at memorization and my playing has reached the point that I can t progress without knowing the notes of the fretboard I tried innumerable exercises on my own but nothing worked I m not the whole way through the fretboard yet but this app is actually working for me I m very excited about the possibilities that will be opened up once I have the fretboard memorized Being able to study small sections made all the difference 5 stars                     Wonderful JRPapollo

This is an excellent app the only thing I would change is to maybe add a scale arpeggio trainer and to change the fact that in some modes you can only study four frets at a time This is fine for guitar and bass but mandolins use diatonic fingering and we play all the notes up to the seventh fret in first position Fix the positioning for mandolin and add more things to study and this app would be perfect                     Almost Perfect SophieMcCall

This is an awesome app and is exactly what I was looking for It does an awesome job of helping you memorize the fretboard The only thing I can think of to make it better is to include the option to use a specific key To me that would be much better than including sharps or flats                 Excellent training tool Stupiduniquename

This is by far the best app of its kind And the price is fair for the actual value Avoids ALMOST all the issues with similar apps which have problems with speed string fret selection options messy interfaces etc But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pester the dev to make the guitar neck wider AT LEAST as an option It s FAR too easy to hit wrong notes due to the strings being so tightly spaced especially for thick fingers Granted they LOOK great tight but I can t get accurate stats on what I actually know because of being off by a hair now and then due to the interface Especially frustrating because the point should be learning the GUITAR fretboard rather than establishing a separate skill on the iPad Again it should be an option for slender fingers or lower speeds it may be fine as is for some                     Best available app one real problem KD Jones

I dont normally write reviews but some apps are so useful and fun to use I thought I should tip my hat I ve played a wind instrument pretty much all my life and now that I m retired I wanted to learn guitar Fret Tester is a great way to learn the guitar or other string instrument fretboard I wanted to transfer my knowledge that I have in music into another instrument and guitar is a wonderful but complicated instrument I can t tell you how many guitarist really good players don t know the notes on the neck can t read music etc it must be frustrating at times to be semi literate Fret Tester will really help in this department and the designers created a great game like environment You won t even know your learning I have a version on my iPod touch and iPad and find that whenever I m waiting or have time to kill I m honing my skills Get it it s really a great little app                     Very useful ivgm

I could not be more thrilled with this app I ve been playing guitar for awhile but never found a good way to memorize the fretboard My brain just couldn t process it quickly and I was frustrated I played with Fret Tester every day for a couple of weeks and I had the first five frets memorized without strain It was fun to play The app is brilliantly simple and effective in design I like the way it tends to frequently repeat notes you ve gotten wrong a couple of times so you learn them Thank you Fret Tester Now I can rock on                     This app helped me learn the fretboard in no time Corkulous

To me this app is a necessity to help me through the beginning stages of learning my bass guitar It has 4 game modes to choose from all which interchangeably help reinforce your new found knowledge I ve been using this app for a few days and can already recite all of the natural notes up to the 7th fret Very useful in learning how to read music too As far as not being able to scroll up and down the guitar I really don t think it s that big of a problem because after the 12th fret all of the notes simply repeat themselves at least on the bass I don t know if it holds true on the guitar 5 stars all the way And Remember is not how long you ve been playing is how much time you ve invested                     Repetition is key figster979
