Apps like this have the potential to make reading a chess book way more convenient because you can always see the current position This is a good start but it s just a beginning it needs more work As far as bugs are concerned it does not remember correctly the location on the page when restarting the app On a chapter with 10 games it s not easy to find the place to continue Also it loses the current position when double tapping to go full screen or return from full screen In terms of features the main thing I miss is some kind of visual indication that there s text to read after the current move Imagine I watch the board and then tap the Next button to advance through the game Unless I check the notation after every move very distracting I would miss the move comment True there s a dialog for variations but that s not the same thing Some commented moves don t have variation A change in color some dot lighting up somewhere would mean a lot in terms of convenience             Has potential needs more work 710 Skyline

Update latest version of the app is getting buggy When you re scrolling down the chapter it suddenly pops to the top and you lose your place Please fix to get back to 5 stars Very easy to navigate and play through the game quickly I hope they will make more books for this app soon Excellent Works well so far in ios7 but not verified in ios8 yet             Great way to read a chess book Dr_JCB

When showing you a choice of moves it shows a huge diagram momentarily covering the entire board and which is very distracting Also when you flip the board to show the black pieces from the bottom of the board the White King sometimes moves as if it is on the black side of the board You need to fix these these things             Recent Update not very good M. This app is not for me and here is why 1 I don t like seeing the BUY button everywhere on my screen luring me into clicking it even by mistake It gives the impression of someone who doesn t care about chess as much as they care about MONEY 2 You cannot upload your own books You HAVE TO BUY FROM THEM and their prices are quite inflated It s quite obvious that the app was designed for the sole purpose of buying books EXCLUSIVELY from their affiliated stores 3 BEWARE when you re paying 19 99 for the book you re NOT purchasing the books itself but you re renting it for an annual subscription LOL Next year you ll have to pay another 20 for the same book Classic 4 lacks tons of features and settings but it s quite irrelevant at this stage I must admit 5 I m quite suspicious with the current rating and I think it s orchestrated by the app developer to attract buyers 6 Removed         Read before buying abedzaza

Really have enjoyed this program I can do my chess studies anywhere with a great selection of books to choose from No need to break out the board Easy to test my own variations and what ifs vs the built in chess computer Do they have every book No But not every publisher has electronic formats I don t count kindle and some only realease them in alternate programs So I prefer to see the glass half full with great books to choose from among a half dozen publishers It s by far the best program I ve used of the various programs on my iPad and iPhone                     Great Program DanLewisTN

This has it all the book is digital the games are there and a board pops up to play them over as your read the lessons and commentary You can play the variations and then it goes right back to the game And best of all you can hit a button and the powerful Stockfish chess engine starts running at the bottom of the page as you play through the games and variations Maybe the earlier reviewers had some previous version These aren t scanned books they have had every move of every game entered digitally so you can play them over as you read And the lost of available chess books grows every week Yes the books are not cheap but you don t have to buy a board and set and play it as you read So now you can study chess anywhere anytime Highly recommended                     The best chess book app you could imagine 1800Danno

I have Dvoretsky s Endgame Manual on my iPhone and iPad The whole book This app works great Instead of just reading notation in a chess book you see it active on the board under your complete control This app makes learning and understanding so much easier for me I would love to see Mongoose Press s upcoming book Best Play by Alexsander Shashin made available for this app as well as Chess Blueprints and Book 1 and 2 of Wojo s Weapons Also Russell Enterprises Alexsander Alekhine s My Best Games one of the greatest chess books ever written I love this app Thank you so much But even if they never did anything else I have the Endgame Manual                     ABSOLUTELY AWESOME Gampapa3
