Intro offer: 0.99 throughout December DISCLAIMER: MIDI is not working. Apple is currently reviewing an updated version that adresses this and other minor issues, which will be available next week. FM4 is a four operator FM synthesizer ...
This is a great app based on the TX81Z synthesizer Despite what Primal Audio claims about the display bugs I had no problem running it on an iPad Air 2 The presets are great and show what four operators can really do beyond Sega Genesis sounds If you have problems get DXi instead I am so happy that this app has every single parameter on a single screen                     FM Synthesis for beginners Korg Fan
Might be cool if it had a touchpad style scalar keyboard like Magellan or at least a resize key option but it just seems like another skeuomorphic iOS synth at this point A better design than DXi though         Needs Keyboard Resize S. L. Biggs
This synth is exactly what I wanted simple four op Fm It sounds warm and dirty Exactly like my old tq5 used to                     Simple and brilliant tbrensinger
Very good synth Buy it                     Great app Nick45689143
The thing I really love about this and the reason I m giving it 5 stars is that I love the edit screen There are almost no sub menus almost everything you need to edit the sounds is fit very nicely and functionally on the screen But that being said it s a good thing the sounds are easy to edit because the presets are mostly pretty bad It has a tendency to get very noisy very quickly meaning it can be hard to avoid producing hissy artifacts that don t sound very good I m don t know too much about FM synths to know if that s normal but I don t hear it on say Yamaha DX7 presets on YouTube demos I ve found the most sure fire way to eliminate it is to switch it to Model 1 then if that doesn t work turn down feedback on oscillator 4 YouTube tutorial by Tim Webb on this app was very helpful                     Pretty good boldstandard
Primal Audio really makes me smile with this one The FM4 is that classic frequency modulated synthesis that still has the power to rule the world of music today Crafting a custom sound is easy and fun                     Simple and full featured djAlpad
This app sounds good as a nice interface But there s no midi in And this is the type of app you would want to use an external sequencer to control It s funny is but there s no midi in         Sounds fantastic but not MIDI in Blackbery-12
wow i love the layout and sound of this app great sounds are so fast to create it seems like madness that we had to program a tx or dx the way we did way back when sounds brilliant                 simple immediate fm fun rcon303
This might be my favorite synth in the market right now I pushed up the polyphony in Settings and use it create some lush pads My only request would be to add separate envelops to modulate the pitch of operators but I m pretty happy with the variation in sound I m getting now                     Solid Synth ecocentrik
I own a 81z Bought new back in the 80 s This app does not even come close Sounds like a Casio with a broken built in speaker     Not Even Close save your 2 DEUCES
excellent sound and a well put together UI                     I like it more than the original ZenLizard
Finally made compatible with 7 04 Great sound and great looks Lots of possibilities Thank you for the support                     Awesome eli@mac
I am so far loving everything about this FM synthesizer The sounds that it produces are just killer in my opinion I am not previously familiar with this classic synth like so many other reviewers purport to be But after using this amazing tool I can completely understand their enthusiasm for this synthesizer I haven t explored every nook and cranny of the app yet but I just wanted to give my initial impression To me it seems like these iOS versions of classic and popular synths are a dime a dozen and usually I find many of them to be nothing special And while your experience and opinion may differ from my own I am just finding this synthesizer to be incredibly fun to play with and am very satisfied with my purchase thus far I will report back and update my review later after I have become well accustomed to the app or if I stumble upon any issues My sincere thanks to the developer for bringing this surprise to the App Store As I said I had no previous experience or exposure to this particular hardware synthesizer But after seeing what it can do and what it sounds like well I will now be on the lookout on eBay and other places for an original one of these Thanks again and God bless iPad Air 2 iOS 8 1 1 P S Thanks also for offering the light demo version of this application Messing around in the demo was what really sold me on making the purchase of the full paid version In my opinion other developers are foolish when they don t offer a demo of their app s for customers to try out I would think that you would increase your sales percentage big time by doing that Unless your app is just garbage to begin with and you know this and want to sucker people into throwing away good money on your lackluster crap                     Very Awesome Thick and Unique Sounds Joshua D.
Like I said get it                     Get it littlewoodg
I was an art student and an aspiring new wave musician in 1985 There was nothing I wanted more than a DX7 That was the sound that was heard everywhere from Brian Eno to A ha It was also about 2000 So I never did get it Primal Audio has warped time and space with FM4 to bring the sound and features of the DX series and FM synthesis to my humble iPad2 I am absolutely thrilled with this app Yes it comes with well over 100 sounds many of which will sound so familiar to many of us when you load them But the real strength is that it s the real deal when it comes to making your own sounds And this super user interface is a helluva lot easier to use than the DX For all I know there may be other DX clone apps out there but my search is done here And I bet yours will be too A steal at 10 an absolute steal                     The Yamaha DX7 I Never Had mechascorpio
Bought this one and really enjoyed it at first but the latest update has created a bad lag with the GUI too much noise and too much aliasing Early FM had a little noise and some aliasing artifacts not this much though It s close but not done yet imo     Nice sound but update has added more bugs ShockADD
I love how easy it is to jump right in and make great sounds with this app It s a wonderful synth with a lot of possibilities for crafting sounds but not too much in other words it s not cluttered It s simple and elegant Audiobus support is a must have so I hope that comes soon so I can start piping it to Loopy for extra fun Well done Primal Audio                     Fantastic and easy Dave the Cap
This thing sounds fantastic                     Really really good Matt Verzola
I m on a new iPad Air 2 with iOS Ver 8 1 2 and the FM4 is operating just fine and restores my faith in iOS developers I look forward to adding this in the mix                     Replacing my favorite iOS synth Dcs1771
There s really very little not to like about this product Attractive Retina graphics on the one screen layout and a good assortment of 80 s FM sounds that actually do manage to stand out a bit in a crowded iOS synth landscape Two issues and they may very well be temporary if corrected 5 stars no doubt One the developer admits that MIDI is broken at the time of launch However I actually did hook up a CoreMIDI keyboard and got it to work with no issue and I believe an update has already been submitted Two some of the presets cause audio glitches on my iPad2 This is a bit disheartening even though my device is old but it s only on certain patches and adjustments in polyphony do sometimes correct it I suspect there may be some optimization in this app that could clean up the performance a bit as it is somewhat large for a straightforward synth 80MB and this is apparently due to graphics Finally the app needs AudioBus compatibility but this is also in the works Some very correctable issues there and then this is a winner for sure Applaud the release price of 1 for early adopters to obtain what is sort of a beta version of the app that was a nice move for the iOS music community                 4 5 Stars Very promising FM synth with a few issues HouseOfHomuth
What an amazing find 99 for a Synth worthy of Moog Arturia Oberheim KORG ikmultimedia and Synths costing 9 99 to 29 00 for 99 cents Who said nothing was available for free or at least less than a dollar Two things I m looking for however First a PDF Owners Manual download and the ability to store the sounds we make as additional presets which may be available but I don t want to lose a factory preset by trying There is no Save As Go to the web site and listen to the Demos This is a serious synthesizer and maybe the best deal given on an app ever Nice                     A Christmas Gift for sure 99 should be 9 99 Film less Soundtracks
The only thing it s missing is a multi mode and some advanced midi options Otherwise you can t beat it for the price Excellent FM synth app                     TX81Z level FM synth Cursd
That BOC tribute preset alone is worth 10 stars I am hoping that the MIDI settings are updated to be compatible with the iRig Keys controller or any non Bluetooth MIDI device but regardless fantastic app                     Boards Of Panama D JLJ3
Wow I m impressed The simplicity of this app is really nice and yet it maintains complex fm synthesis the interface is beautifully done and easy to learn Thanks                     Great FM synth TadbitOmusiC
