My plane is in the shop getting an Aspen PFD installed and I was anxious to begin familiarizing myself with the new glass ASAP This was an unexpected upgrade after my HSI totally failed in IMC and I didnt want to settle for rebuilt old avionics I love my steam gages but know the plane needs glass for future value This program has been very helpful getting acquainted with the Aspen EFD1000 The first time through felt like overload but got easier with each time through the main two instructional sections I feel pretty comfortable now with the control logic and how instrument approaches will go with this instrument A lot more is covered than what I needed since I am just adding one PFD but if you are adding more and have a lot of GPS and autopilot feeds available this covers those options as well I definitely recommend this program for getting familiar with the Aspen glass system Good preflight
Im learning to fly IFR in a C182 with an Aspen 2000 and Garmin GTN750 Theyre an awesome combo but few CFIIs know much about either much less the combo so Im spending much time just figuring out the interface I LOVE the Aspen 2000 and combined with the GTN750 delivers incredibly situational awareness but its daunting trying to figure things out while flying This video series is a huge help thanks Sportys Im sure Ill watch it over and over until it starts making sense Its slightly dated but is still really good and Im glad to have invested in it in June 2015 and would recommend others do the same I wish Aspen would make a sim app like Garmin did for the GTN750 its been a huge help also Well worth the investment
