I am new to ArcGIS online mapping Having worked under grants from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation CPF Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians EBCI for past 8 years mapping Indian trails town sites historical geography etc into Google Earth Pro and the old Nat Geo TOPO programs I was invited to create a series of online ESRI Story Maps for the Tribe public The GIS department head encouraged me explaining the simplicity using ESRI templates A mostly help tutorials crash course in Arc Desktop and ESRI Story Maps one year later I am preparing to demonstrate my still primitive web maps and Story Map series to Tribal Elders teachers and the CPF BOD No good way on an iPhone in sketchy mountain country here near the Great Smokies I stumbled on the Explorer in Apple App Store in bed the other night and opened my web maps Incredible Fast beautiful and historic trails Cherokee towns mounds ancestral place names tagged I discovered the popups displayed media photos and historic map details Some maps gave me the Z error also Could have been the ghost of Zorro I can use this app as a cultural GPS on historical field trips with the Cherokee people and the public I can t seem to get a shortcut icon on my iPhone screen yet Keep this going We ArcGIS neophytes with limited GIS skills need this Any advice appreciated Lamar Marshall Southeast Heritage Cowee Mountains Franklin NC                 Incredible For Fast iPhone Access Cherokee Trailtracker

Their old app did better This one says it can t display shapes with no Z values Doesn t give a clue how to give the shape Z values Mine does have Z elevation values but apparently not recognizable by the app This is probably a bug Or they need to do a lot of work on this thing     won t display map nirtog

ESRI you must fix what you did to popups and pin drop This spinning pinwheel crap has to end All of my work depends on being able to open my AGOL data in the field You have absolutely DESTROYED GIS productivity in the field These last two updates threw functionality and responsiveness in the trash What belongs in the trash is every line of code that was written to create this disaster 1 I can no longer quickly access coordinates instantly NOW THIS APP IS A HUGE WASTE OF TIME When I press on the map I get the unresponsive spinning pin wheel of death The coordinates and pop ups take an unfathomable amount of time to load Fetching other data should not slow down the display of coordinates or the pin on the map I don t understand why on earth this app is so slow now THERE SHOULD BE NO SPINNING PINWHEEL ON THE MAP 2 The app is showing data layers in popups that I told it not to on my map settings online 3 Search suggestions are only showing addresses rather than suggestions from any of my map layers I need to instantly drop a pins and instantly see coordinates I need to be able to fetch data quickly I need allsearch behavior restored I need pop up data to stay hidden if I told it not to display a pop up on that later I need search suggestions related to my map data Shame on ESRI for pushing these updates that destroyed ability to access and properly display all of our hard work With the last update ESRI killed the purpose of Explorer for ArcGIS ESRI must revive the functionality of this app The last version is one of the worst app updates I have ever seen of any app My final rating     Very Buggy and Slow PINWHEEL OF DEATH mixxster

This update has so many bugs as to render the app almost useless at least for deploying to commercial users 1 In multiple maps we get a spinning wheel of death and have to wait 20 25 seconds for a popup to open This applies even for simple maps with only a few feature services and only a few dozen features 2 The search function searches addresses and places throughout the world even when search by address is turned off in the map item details settings Consequently searching for a feature with an id of 10 returns results for addresses WORLDWIDE that begin with 10 3 Pop ups do not work for layers that are 100 transparent often used for their labels 4 Sharing has disappeared We inquired if this was intentional Customer service calls this a defect Whoops Esri this update is a huge step backwards and feels rushed to get it out for the User Conference We would ask you to at least preserve and test existing functionality of the last version before deploying a new version with added capability labels and offline but too much frustration reporting bugs to even try and appreciate those add ons     Buggy Update WGASD

This app version is prone to crashing Every time I open my Map Contents window the app freezes up and I have to exit I cannot access my map layers to turn things off and on There are no issues with the exact same map when run on Android iPad version very unstable     App for iPad is Very Unstable MT Matt

The USA Topo map by Johnson Maps is way out of date by at least 10 years Other maps list as updated Aug 2014 also out of date Unreliable info     Maps out of date Docwalden

The app regularly has problems signing in It just spins and even after restarting the app or the device still has the same problem I had to go back to the more stable arcgis app         Great when it works Skerb
