This app quickly and straightforwardly transforms photos into engraving etching like renderings That s exactly what I want it for Some complain that it isn t creative enough Actually I would prefer that the app not add anything beyond basic stylistic rendering Let the user add any creative imagery in GIMP or Photoshop A couple of included styles already add such flourishes like fake currency or rubber stamp marks I doubt I ll ever use those I m hoping the developer provides new style packs with additional effects such as mezzotints aquatint and other intaglio and lithographic techniques                     Does well what it s meant to johojo

I like Etchings and normally wouldn t complain about a bug here but the developer s support email doesn t work Prior to iOS 9 the advanced export option allowed saving full sized images not just the 1 1 aspect displayed on screen Without full sized exports I can t do real work with this app it s just a novelty                 Advanced Export not working in iOS 9 Bluffwalker

This is the best app of its kind out there it gives you a wide variety of effects and textures to play with effects you won t find in Photoshop or elsewhere I ve had the app for a couple of months now both on my iPad and my phone and if I say so myself I ve created some really amazing images with it Most of these apps are a waste of time for serious artists but this one has infinite possibilities                     Very cool Helena Handbasket

Recently re installed this app thank goodness it s still getting updates It s running smoothly on an iPhone 6 filters seem to apply with ease if your looking for classy artistic unique filters for 1 1 ratio this is the app to get the 1 filter is fun would like to see more full size ratios the end results would make cool lock screen walls just a suggestion                     Unique kgbizy

I took some photos with Etchings that are still among my favorites but as others have said it seems to have been abandoned The crop preview hasn t corresponded to the actual photo cropping since iOS 6 and the app doesn t seem to be able to actually use photos as large as the camera on my iPhone 6 takes I happily bought a filter pack while I was still using it and I d love to be able to give the current version a 5 star review but as it is I ll just hope for another update         Great app but abandoned Slfndifken

I absolutely HATE being forced to square crop my photos It ruins a good many of them therefore I am much less inclined to use apps with that limitation Otherwise this would be a really cool app Two stars off for the square crop issue though             Please get rid of the square crop Blue_Willow

This app has worked quite well for me in the past but in my iPhone 5s the cropping tool you must use to select a photo to work on does not crop the photo as you adjust it in the preview Thus the app is more or less useless as you are unable to precisely select which part of your photo you want to use         Broken on 5s turkishoval

Please let me turn off the frames They re fine sometimes intrusive others Old review Like others I looked forward to this app s arrival because of stories on various iPhonography blogs It s really good and I ve already enjoyed working with it it pairs really well with Decim8 for example and output from it adds great texture to in various layering programs like Layover I understand the developer plans to add higher resolution I d like the option for portrait or landscape too not just the tyranny of the square As a paper and collage artist I looked forward to the stamp the faux postage Air Mail filter and it s great We really need a good faux postage app that would allow changing colors adding altering text etc and this isn t that but it s still welcome I hope the makers of this app will find ways to expand the options within the postage filter over time that would allow that kind of thing But on the whole this is a really welcome addition to my app library It s easy to use creates a variety of looks offers some genuine flexibility and so on Congrats to the developer s             Great Start craiggp

Fun and really marvelous half toning effects to achieve the look of a printed etching if you can avoid the moire patterns Those patterns can be avoided by choosing images better suited to the screen resolution on your device Have purchased the in app upgrade but it doesn t work yet Still the app is highly recommended if you like the look of pictures as they appear on currency newspaper column portraits postage stamps etc Fun time killer                     Another addictive photo filter app fgoodenough

Came from using this lovely little app I never liked the etching style until I used Etchings And now I like the results from this the best of all my filters                     Some of my best pics whitefishsc

Intuitive easy to use lovely results I started transferring photos from my iMac to my iPad just so I could use this app The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that there doesn t appear to be an undo Not a big deal as it is easy enough to reapply a previous filter but an undo would make it that much easier Also if would be nice if we had the option to have rectangular pictures as well as square Hopefully these things will be added in a future update Even without them I still LOVE LOVE LOVE this app It takes what might be a mediocre photo and turns it into what appears to be a vintage illustration I ve got next year s Christmas card ready to go                 Addictive Sacharissa
