Keeps Crashing!!!!
1) Updated the software and it crashes and shuts down way to many times. Tried reinstalling the software and same. I have an iPhone 4.
2) Have no idea if the software is posting ka and laser signals since the software does not say anything. Good app - watch battery life
The app functions as advertised but note that the battery drain is significant. Keep a charger handy. Even when plugged into the charger, the recharge was slow. On my iPhone 4S, I started our 5hr drive at 100% and after 1hr I was down to 70%, at 3hrs I was below 20%.
I like the dashboard view for this app. I placed my iPhone 4S between my tach and speedo and the setup looks and functions well. Perhaps a future iteration will allow for adjusting colors to match interior instrument lighting. I want to experiment more with the app, I only had an opportunity to use this on a 300 mile trip. There are times when it would be nice to be able to use the app without the radar detector strictly for the GPS speed, the posted speed limit and for the map identifying the speed cameras for MD, DC and VA. The Redline unit worked well on our trip detecting Ka signals. I did not go for the premium subscription to experience any of the network warnings as advertised. After spending $500 with the vendor, it would have nice to have several months of a free subscription service to determine if there is value for the premium service. I would also like to see Escort offer more DirectWire options, such as, separate 12v power supply and cables; similar to the Valentine One setup. This way a user can get longer wire to hide behind the dash, up the A-pilar and to the sun visor where the unit is mounted. This is a better alternative than having the unit`s only power coming from the coiled wire going up the dash, or having to spend significantly more for the the SmartCord Live Direct Wire kit.
