The EndNote for iPad app is the iOS version of EndNote the world`s most popular reference management software. With flexible tools for searching, organizing, and sharing your research, and creating your bibliography, the EndNote ...
Will not sync It s almost as if I have two separate libraries but I don t I love Endnote on my laptop it runs seamlessly and everything is right in the world The iPad app and the online endnote make me want to burn things     iPad application is horrible Orion 1128
The Endnote desktop software is almost universally used in the scientific academic environment However while Ipad Pros are increasingly used as portable laptops the use of endnote on these devices remains dreadfully useless Although Endnote Ipad app is a nice PDF viewer it does under utilizes the power provided by the Ipad pro If CWYW were developed to use with both Pages and MS Word this app would jump to the top             Desperately needs Cite While you write MudPhud2021
Useless as a research tool Maybe if you have an Endnote library already and it s a small library and you don t want to add to it from your iPad Then maybe this very limited software is worth your time     Can t import references from the Web cosmospring
EndNote NSArrayM insertObject atIndex object cannot be nil     Can t sync adadmi
The app is unusable for PDF books It is too slow with large files Turning a page takes several seconds And only works if you slide your finger straight up and down If you move even slightly to the side the interface freezes for several seconds It doesn t support bookmarks or PDF outlines PDF annotation tools are minimal and very slow There doesn t seem to be any way to search within a PDF Very disappointed as my main reason for switching from Zotero to Endnote is that I wanted a better iPad and desktop sync solution     Unusable Woty Regan
PDFs are becoming corrupted even without anything being done with them This used to be reliable but now I can t reliably use this app or their Desktop application if the PDFs are getting corrupted without me doing anything besides attaching the PDFs                     PDF corruptions MikeAbili
Generally speaking the EndNote iPad app works great for me However over the past few days since the most recent iPad software update I suspect my annotated files become corrupted and unopenable when I sync them back to the desktop version of EndNote I m hoping that this issue gets fixed quickly the ability to annotate PDFs on my iPad is one of my favorite features of EndNote and why I use this product instead of other citation management programs             iPad app corrupting PDFs slbrock
I generally quite like this app but in the last few days I can t reliably use it to annotate and then sync files the attachment keeps getting corrupted and I have to annotate from my desktop instead The annotations show in the iPad but don t seem to actually get saved to any file This is annoying because part of the reason I chose end note was that the ability to annotate on my iPad retained the feel of reading and marking up a physical copy while having all the advantages of an electronic copy I am wondering whether the recent update caused the problem since I have only recently had this issue I do hope it is fixed soon             Corruption problems Riyya
The Endnote for iPad application is really a must have for researchers students teachers and the like It organizes and allows easy access to your entire Endnote database including easy access to articles including annotating PDFs Navigation is quick and clean and there are few problems with this app which came out a few years ago The problem is that it came out a few years ago and aside from bug fixes not much more has been done with this app There is still no split screen support It has not been updated to deal with the new Apple SmartKeyboard searches are ugly when using the keyboard as it puts a big black square over the lower half of the screen where the keyboard should have been It also isn t supporting Apple Pencil very much which is to say it allows spurious inputs from fingers when annotating with the Pencil These are some minimal fixes it needs Also the built in browser is useless The biggest improvement it needs is better integration with Word Processing It is unlikely that Pages will be doing much with EndNote for iPad but that isn t much of a loss since almost everything is in Word these days anyways EndNote should collaborate with Microsoft to enable Cite As Your Write natively Currently the way you add a citation is copy a temporary citation and paste it into Word Then later you can update it with Word for Mac PC The problem is that this citation isn t accessible from every screen including the PDF view and it doesn t directly connect to the citation so when you merge it in Word you have to go through and manually associate each citation from the iPad into the app Really this is pretty pathetic and given the amount of money people are paying for EndNote is quite a shame Overall a good app with basic functionality that is not ready for the next generation of iPad writers             A good start but so much potential for great MrSteveee
I ve long been leery of EndNote having watching Thomson the company behind it swallow up competitors like the much missed ProCite But at this point I have to admit they they offer a very solid product I have EN on both my iPad and Mac and am able to seamlessly keep the two in sync I can download any PDF I want to read to my iPad on demand which I great since I don t want to store my 6 GB library on my iPad The annotation tools within EN for the iPad are fine not quite as smooth as say iAnnotate but very workable But by using those tools my annotations are automatically synced back to my Mac which is great since that is where I do most of my writing Early in it s life the program tended to crash a lot but I haven t had much problem in the last six months Every so often I get duplicates as part of the syncing process but I think that s generally when I ve done something to confuse it e g add item to EndNote online sync that to Mac change sync online to iPad sync Mac to online etc As a way of splitting reading and organizing to my iPad and writing to my Mac I find it an excellent tool                 Very helpful Glenn in AZ
No you re not crazy You honestly cannot use the copy and paste function in the app That is absolutely incompetent and yes I ve reported this to them and that s why I m telling you that they are aware of this it was intentional and they have still chosen not to fix it for months         No you re not crazy JuBe88
Of all the apps on my iPad this delivers the most value for me I have every article accessible on my device through endnote and it makes reading easy even away from my computer My research notes are also synced to the iPad including changes and additions Of course it is not perfect in every sense but it does what no other app can do Great job guys Keep it up                     A consistent and intelligent app Memmawhite
I don t know about the other reviews the current version works and it s helping me to read more of the articles on my Retina display iPad mini I can highlight easily unlike PDFs on iBooks The sync is slow but I don t mind it I can update if there s a better app out there but I m very satisfied with this app Thanks                     Works DrDrMister
Probably the worst PDFs annotation functionality I ve seen One can at least Open in GoodReader then from GR Open in EndNote remove the old attachment and add the annotated on from Downloads Shouldn t be this hard EndNote strikes me as being somewhat like AT T a big cash cow that people are used to working around         Whomever wrote the app doesn t use the app A. Non E. Mouse
Forget about the fact that there is no version for the iPhone Huh What Why Anyway Endnote is the worst citation software out there and surprisingly the one that s not free It s slow to sync The layout of groups doesn t match what you have on your desktop It s really difficult to get citations imported into the software It has less browser extensions then the other free alternatives The only thing that the iOS app has that the others don t have is TTS I use text to voice a lot and as far as I can tell none of the other ones have it So I m forced to use Endnote     The worst djalixer
Does not open at all Does not work in iOS 9 All my work is lost inexcusable incompetent     Unusable K V R S
The latest update claims iOS 9 compatibility but unfortunately this update does not include support for Slide Over or Split View which is a central feature of iOS 9 and a very useful feature for bibliographic software Hope the developers add support for these features soon             Does not support iOS 9 features tedsvo
I was excited to install the update with new PDF annotation features However it instantly locks up whenever I open it up This is a bad thing since I rely on EndNote so heavily for my research Hope a fix is on the way soon     App locks up
Cmon folks Im going to ding you for taking too long to update for iOS8 For several weeks now Ive been unable to sync across devicesweb and according to your techs this is why        Taking too long to update for iOS8
This is not a review of the Aug update which I have not yet tested I just wanted to post a positive review and thank the developers for maintaining the app with updates The main criticism and lost stars from others seems to be that PDF files do not automatically download for your entire library Well Ive used Endnote since the 90s and my library is over 9 thousand refs So holy cow I dont want all PDF files on my iPad and Im perfectly happy to get them as I need them The main thing I would like is better searching I use Keywords extensively and that is a key way that I search for refs I also take extensive notes in the Notes field and it would be awesome if I could search for particular references via searching that field Otherwise this app is nicely designed and works great                 Great app needs better search options
I am long time Endnote user who switched to Bookends for couple of years and then came back to give latest version a try Problem with Endnote folks is their refusal to adapt to user needs You are stuck with their assumptions about how we ought to deal with workflow The iPad version is example for both the parameters it arbitrarily sets and its syncing issues they need to build in some user settings that make sense On positive side still use its browser search functions Otherwise back to Bookends        Assumptions they make
I have been waiting for TR to build this app for years I installed it on my 2nd generation iPad and I am quite pleased I have had my articles in a disorganized mess for years but this app lets me keep them organized and synced with my desktop and laptop via EndNote Web Now I can keep my articles organized accessible and up to date I always write tons of notes on articles and endnote makes this a breeze Managing groups is very simple as well and the synch with the web is nearly seamless I havent figured out how to integrate my ebooks nook etc and this may not be possible but maybe itll be an option in future upgrades I should point out that I had difficulty with the synch until I upgraded my laptop and desktop to EndNote X602 Im always recommending articles to grad students after class and now Ill be able to send bib info to them on the spot This is a totally killer app I forgot to add thisI can raid my universitys library for articles in no time Simply tap on the export citation tap on import using endnote and it is done I can collect dozens of articles in no time                 I have been waiting for this
App keeps crashing after paying for it     Keeps crashing
after opening pdf cant get back to library if i touch any single draw even a point     gotta give up annotation
This is an excellent app It is a musthave for scientists because it allows you to completely access your library from anywhere In older reviews I have seen some whining about a lack of particular features These seem largely due to unrealistic expectations Highly recommended To the developers some suggestions 1 Allow the built in browser to bookmark pubmed 2 make adding attachments require fewer taps                 Superb
Own it on iPad 2 Best in class                 Amazing
I expected more from this app Those who have a large database of attached files need the option to upload only the bibliographic references in order to use the iPad version effectively     Frustrating
It quits for no reason when you switch apps When I come back all my PDF annotations are gone This is a serious problem           Buggy
If theres the option for no star I will give none It does not sync with my desktop endnote properly Whats the point of having this app if I have to download everything manually Stay away from this app I dont think they will ever improve the product     Terrible Dont waste your money
The app doesnt download all of the references from my library properly and after waiting ages it still doesnt download them all and you get an error message The app has gotten more unstable over time Now I remember why I deleted it off my iPad     App Doesnt Sync Properly
I spent 10 for the find full text function But it seems that the app doesnt have this function        Find full text
Not sure what others are doing but app works as stated for me Not crashing with heavy use for several weeks Disappointed that all the group functionality in the work station version is not available either thru web version or ipad app I do teaching on the fly and its a bit challenging to quickly find the references Im seeking           Works for me
The synchronization malfunctions It never update the attached pdf        Not good it described from those demo images
I love using this app Very intuitive I use it everyday I have been using endnote for over 10 years and this app now allows me to ditch my laptop and rely upon the ipad as my main research tool I enjoy using the ipad version of endnote more than the desktop version Very easy to download citations and papers using google scholar I like the group view of scrolling through my citations I did not give it a 5 star rating due to a few shortcomings that need to be fixed with the next version I wish there was an option to automatically sync all file attachments or all attachments for a group rather than having to manually download each paper I also do not like having to favorite all references to ensure the attachments will stay synced with the ipad I also have had issues with my desktop library not syncing with the ipad changes via endnote web              Vital app for researchers
I was a bit hesitant to download this app after reading the initial negative reviews Ive been a longtime user of Endnote and recently started getting into the groove of reading research articles on my iPad Ive tried it all GoodReader ReadCube PDFnotes which is still fantastic but the only feature that was missing was reference management The Endnote iPad app syncs seamlessly with the Endnote X7 software on my laptop The annotationshighlightingnotes I make to PDFs on the iPad app syncs nicely with Endnote X7 so I no longer need to manually importexport PDFs across devices My only gripes are these the sync feature can only handle one Endnote library at a time So if you had two different Endnote libraries say one for work and one for pleasure the sync feature will merge the two libraries together So on the iPad app your references from both libraries will meld together This wont be as issue if you keep all of your references in a single library secondly the sync feature on both the computer and iPad apps does not run automatically You need to Press the sync button each time you want to update your libraries and for each device Third there is no option to select whether to automatically download attached PDFs from they our Endnote library on computer to your library on the iPad app You need to go into individual references and click on the empty PDF icon              Syncs my papers between iPad and laptop seamlessly
Hi I download abstract and citation from IEEE but it does not open in EndNote        Why
I have used desk top Endnote for over a decade Its useful so Ive stuck with it even though its not perfect I was excited when the iPad app came out because I thought it would help my productivity To date Ive been using it over a year it has done the exact opposite Every time I have tried to use it I have spent a long time getting it to do things that should be simple and straightforward in what is essentially a data base manager Issues include that the sync with the web from both iPad and desktop does not work properly Today for example 84 of my 800 refs were not placed in the correct group at another point it did not sync the pdfs I had added to the desktop version of the file and finally it simply crashed repeatedly All this just to put some references on my iPad for easier reading and it never did work The sync rule what trumps what for overwriting seem to have no logic I am afraid to sync without making multiple backups because I have lost my work so often its entirely unpredictable The iPad version has ridiculously limited functionality why must we go through conflicts and resolve them one at a time How about an option to set or check boxes The editor is very clumsy especially going back and forth from marking refs to group and the full record Also it would be good to be able to control syncing I have large libraries and dont want to wait for them to sync every time I open the app Finally having to rely on the website as an intermediary between iPad and desktop versions is painful Many of the problems I experience are linking desktop to web in addition to web to app It seems to me that the improvements made in each version whether iPad or desktop are about adding bells and whistles more ref types Online searching Built in browser The energy would be better spent on ensuring basic functionality I will stick with the desktop version for the time being while I look around at other options But I will no longer use the iPad version and I suggest you not waste your money on it     Reduces Productivity
EndNote app uses freehand annotations that cannot be viewed outside of the app They cannot be viewed in the desktop version of EndNote or even Adobe Acrobat Whats the point of annotating when they cant be viewed universally In addition EndNote apps PDF viewer is really minimal It doesnt remember the last page of the PDF you viewed so each time you go to another reference and return you have lost the page you were on and have to manually scroll back Also the PDF viewer doesnt display existing bookmarks in the PDF Dont buy this app if its over 99 cents     Unable to view annotations
Hope you will have a update soon with a read out loud function           Read out loud function
Crashes with EVERY attempt to add a new reference     Worthless
Im frustrated with the inability to change the style in which the citation is exported using the App        Frustrated
Update the app finished indexing after several tires and is usable I still think it could be so much better A major hassle is that every time I open it it tries to download all 2000 of my attachments again and you cant use it until its done So if my connection is slow I have to turn off wifi just to use the app Also group sets dont work and it is hard to sort articles in the order that is most useful I updated the app yesterday and now it locks up as soon as I open it It gives a message about indexing pdfs and just sits there Totally useless           App locks up
Ive been using this app for a research proposal and it has been great It has freed me from my desktoplaptop and I can use my iPad all of the time now I really appreciate the ability to make notes on the PDFs this has taken away some guilt I had for killing so many trees LOL                 Great tool
This worked great was an excellent resource to take to the library or where ever I needed it I use Endnote on my PC daily and this was a great addition Now it has internal errors and cant sync very often I will have to try to manually sync 1020 times to get it to go through Fix this please there were no errors before        Issues with new version
I will be asking for a refund on this I wasted an hour trying to figure out how it works The web feature times out when searching library data bases     Total crap
As a decadelong user of Endnote I am thoroughly disappointed by the lack of stability features and performance app crashes all the time of this app It would be nice to see some serious commitment from Thompson Reuter to the Endnote software family that would result in truly solid and innovative software products instead of annoying customers with inferior products and incremental upgrades     Disappointing
TR lies this is false advertisement This does not support X6 You may however continue you to use your EndNote X6 software However if you wish to synchronize your references from EndNote desktop to EndNote online then the option is to upgrade to a newer version EndNote X7 Just to let you know the prior deadline for the registration was at the end of December 2013 However our Development team extended the registration deadline to the end of August 2014 Once again please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience Please feel free to let me know if I could be of any further help Sincerely Pavithra Pavithra S Product Support Analyst     BUYER BEWARE
Note Ive never used EndNote on the desktop This app has been very helpful for organizing papers taking notes and maintaining all of the lovely bibliographic information that you get to import from publisher websites I like the ability to draw on top of a document its great for quick notes and for pointing things out that I need to revisit On the downside the builtin PDF viewer seems to have trouble when I view large PDFs A certain 169 technical report seems to crash the application after a lot of scrolling around when not using the scroll bar The application could also support better note taking facilities while reading a documentthis may not have been an initial usage they had in mind but I know that it would be great for my usage While this app has its problems I think it has a bright future Im very happy that I was able to pick it up while it was on sale           Almost there
Dont download the current update The program will no longer work     Update locks app
Having purchased the previous version I expected this update to have the same functionality Unfortunately instead of downloading my 1931 references and 111 groups to my iPad it only downloaded 131 references and 2 groups And there is no way to force EndNote to find the rest of the items I enjoyed the ability to read attachments from my iPad though forcing one to link to a Dropbox account is a disappointing change as well And I paid 499 for the previous version The price has since dropped Too bad the quality did so as well        Update has serious shortcomings
Rather disappointed app is not intuitive to use cant seem to open enl files with it Was hoping I could just select my enl library from Dropbox and choose open with endnote would be great if one can transfer enl with all associated files and PDFs with 1 click to endnote online and have it available in iPad and desktop to use in word editor But thanks for a great beginning and look forward to the next update           Had high hopes for this
I have been an EndNote user for over 10 years and have licenses for both my work PC and personal Mac machines It took three tries to sync my entire web library to my iPad but despite the minor frustration and added time all the references ported over correctly including the groups I subscribe to several journal alert services and routinely export citation information on a weekly basis The download worked flawlessly from every ACS journal I tried Wiley journals also worked but I had to use the PROCITE ris file format instead of the EndNote format in order to get the export to work properly Every journal in the ScienceDirect catalog that I tried to export only allowed me to open the file in Webex Every export file format I tried also failed I like the flexibility of being able to update my EndNote library from the iPad but the current app isnt quite perfect Fix the few bugs I encountered tonight and Id give it 5 stars              Not quite there yet
I cant believe it has been indexing for an hour of my library PDFs after I updated to 11 Endnote team what the hell Are you guys trying to screw me over     Come on seriously
Still It doesnt has the ability to export or import the library using iTunes file sharing we cant transfer the library to another iPad or a new device with iTunes Please add an option to backup and restore the library to iTunes using a database file     STILL Cant export or import to itunes
Endnote has been around for years on PCs and Macs While it is great to have the ability to sync all PCs Macs and iPads through a EndNote Online there is nothing you can do with the library once it is synced The Endnote PDF reader on the iPad is seriously crippled in that you cant actually highlight text You can only draw markeresque transparent colors Also you cant add notes to the PDF you can only draw them All markups remain on the iPad only There is no syncing of markups back to either EndNote Online or back to your Mac or PC library Also there is no syncing of I find myself thinking that EndNote Group sets just the groups Really poor showing even at 99 cents EndNote has serious competition They had best step up to it I for one am no longer using their product in any capacity     Get serious Thomson Reuters
I was unable to sign up for a new account I got a Login Required message which was exactly what I wanted to do But the app would not let me do so        Login bug
The app is easy to use linked with desktop and Endnote web easily It is nice to have a portable endnote library on my ipad to read and edit on the go instead of lugging around my computer everywhere The major change that needs to be make in the next generation is native PDF highlighting In the current state the highlights you make in the Endnote app are not transferable not recognized in other programs So if I open a marked up article from the endnote app in another PDF reader it does not show the markups notes or edits I have made This can be very annoying when working with research partners that dont use Endnote or choose to use other PDF readers for editing Adding a native PDF markup ability would make this app a five star app              Good First Generation App
Crashes all the time when you want to look something online try to import references from pubmed Otherwise you can read the articles ok with it        Crashes
When I sync it with my EndNote library it loses all of my group sets I dont have time refill everything as I have over 800 references Why did they release the app like this     Waste of Time
Sometimes unable to close the literature And please allow us to type words within the literature        Please make update soon
Longtime user of EndNote desktop Like many academicsresearchersstudents I bought an iPad specifically to read and annotate academic articles The iPad app is improved in v 12 but still falls markedly short Ill limit my suggestions two 1 Allow an option for syncing of ALL attached PDFs from EndNote web or Dropbox for the many EndNote users keeping their PDF libraries there Keep in mind that many EndNote iPad users bought highcapacity iPads SPECIFICALLY to store and annotate their EndNote libraries Marking every article as favorite in order to see the PDF is preposterousI cant imagine why anyone would use EndNote on iPad except to annotate articles 2 PDF annotation features are improved but still ludicrously clunky and outdated compared to iAnnotate Goodreader etc Most basic inadequacies include being able to scroll and zoom eg with two fingers without deselecting an annotation tool Suggest either bringing annotation capabilities in line with extant PDF annotation apps or allowing seamless integration with iAnnotate Goodreader etc Thanks for your continued work on the EndNote iPad app With a few improvements could become indispensible        Frustrating because it could so easily have been great
I contacted support about an issue company directed my suggestion to development They released a new version in an effort to correctwell done                 responsive support
It sometimes fail to save the annotation I made After I switch application and come back the app quit and restarted but all my annotations were gone        Looks good but buggy
This is a good idea I use endnote on PC over 10 years It is good But this iPad version can not sync correctly Cannot sync all my reference on web account How can it be useful Hope it can be fixed     Cannot sync wast money
Seamless syncing EndNote on the go I use the iPad version when I want to read the articles that I have organized while relaxing in bed or when Im onthego and have quick meetings with my research group Its fantastic Im surprised by the negative reviews here                 Amazing
Cant creat or sync smart group Not easy to use        No good
Loses all downloaded PDFs once you exit After repeated requests thomson reuters failed to address this issue So stopped using it Waste of 10 bux and very poor customer service     Not worth it
