Very unstable product with questionable support I reported a problem with approach plates not showing proper relief color in mountainous areas used to work fine and received mixed replies first that it will be fixed and then that there is nothing wrong Lots of bugs
App started crashing Jan 22 Support request still not replied to I deleted app and reinstalled to no avail App now crashing
Have tried to use the program for several months and find that is crashes at very inopportune moments I have to print out critical information before a flight because I may not be able to retrieve the necessary charts when needed during flight I love the data that AirGuide Publications has on airports and this is the only reason that I leave this app on my iPad I wish that AirGuide would go back to their simpler program and just give me the great airport information that I used to have available on my iPad Too unreliable for flight use
I am a CFIIIMEI at a 141 flight school I have used multiple aviation apps I tried this app and i received an email with in 30 minutes answering my question from eKneeboard support group Excellent customer service Great Customer Service
I use eKneeBoard as a appear chart replacement I also use it with students I project it using our schools Apple TV Has all of the handbooks and courses in the same app The new flight planning feature took me a while to get but that was a good update My students all have iPads Its a requirement of my students Its really good to have everything that Im going to use for the day in one place Using it as a CFI almost every day
I bought this for the map and for Flight Guide Overall Im disappointed Flight Guide is only allowing 1 state to be purchased Thats very shortsighted for the many of us that fly across state borders I dont think Flight Guide is even active as a company now I purchased a paper guide update two months ago and havent received anything Send your money elsewhere I found Foreflight to be the best inflight app of all I tried Can only buy 1 state of Flight Guide
Just doesnt work past providing charts No plates I dont even remember my other cons just deleted it Tried once more and deleted again this time forever Also very slow downloading Awful
This has great potential as a cockpit app but there is much to do before it can be trusted Much the info especially the airport data and details from Flight Guide could make it worth buying However no updates have been forthcoming for many moons Im not convinced its even being supported any more Read on There are major problems the largest reported in other reviews of which is a tendency to lock up then crash while loading Once it does this once it will not start again until you remove and reinstall it and all the data again a timeconsuming process even with a fast connection Just as bad there is NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT I emailed eKneeboard twice and Flight Guide once and the only reply I got was a canned one from eKneeboard saying they would respond usually within 24 hours There was no reply within 24 days Flight Guide never responded at all Some potential but miles to go
You guys really need to hire a designer Search doesnt work It doesnt actually appear to send a request anywhere What kind of a username is eKBEH352118 looks like some kind of a hash with who knows how many characters First impressions awful
eKneeboards aviation study suite is far and away the best ground school study package available I first used the AnywhereEducation private pilot course when I was enrolled at ATP and its systematic approach and clear explanations helped me deepen my ground knowledge foundation immensely I later purchased the instrument pilot multiengine and flight instructor courses and all are excellent The material is covered systematically from the perspective of the Practical Test Standards PTS drawing directly from the PTS reference material such as the FAA Pilots Handbook Airplane Flying Handbook and FARAIM The courses are not only valuable while preparing for checkrides but are my quick go to reference resource that I find myself consulting over and over The CFIFOI course in the eKneeboard version has the added benefit of a full complement of thorough lesson plans which are an excellent starting point for personalizing ones own The video and graphics are excellent and extremely helpful in breaking down difficult subject matter areas like understanding how a prop governor works and the explanations are succinct and accurate I never feel that the explanations gloss over difficult material The eKneeboard versions seem to be the newest with the most updated content and thats probably the way to go but you can check with them about the particular courses of interest to you The customer service is very capable and responsive and answered my questions and resolved my issue immediately over a holiday weekend Ive tried courses from several of the wellknown brands but the AnywhereEducation courses just work better for me and I recommend them without reservation to aspiring airmen looking to support their training with an excellent ground school application eKneeboardsAnywhereEducations Excellent Aviation study Suite
I have to say this update was worth waiting for with just the Flight Planner You took it way over the top Now virtually everything is Printable and Storable in my Documents folder What a great idea Good Job I will continue to recommend this to every student and pilot I meet Very good update
This app is so amazing for what it took to obtain it which was basically nothing Pilot apps tend to be very pricy especially if they are worth their salt This app is a must have Awesome app
There is nothing on the market that even compares I absolutely love the approach overlays Best app
With this new US Aviation Academy app and this E Kneeboard the skies the limit Winning Combination
I have been using the app over two years In that time I have been constantly told an update is imminent it has never happened Additionally I have spoken on the phone and numerous emails your app updates its position on my iPad 3 approximately every 18 seconds This is not acceptable However at times it will update approximately every second as it should I have never been told what to do to resolve this problem It has happened on other iPad 3s alsoI do love using your app I appreciate the effort that has gone into it so far but it seems as though support is beginning to lag terribly Whats up Where is the support
Ive tried at least 7 EFB programs Ekneeboard has great features but three glaring deficiencies No map on the iPhone Its slow to react to finger clicks It crashes a lot on the IPad Other than that its serviceable and gets me from A to B I like the weather features I can download weather on the ground and play clouds and NEXRAD back in the air Often I can refresh the weather in flight which is useful The Flite guide pages are familiar and useful Randy B
If you register you will be sent spam forever They will go around apple to contact you Dont give them your money or email Dont give them you email address
I didnt expect this app to compete with the big guys but it does I flew an IFR trip to the Washington DC ADIZ The georeferenced charts and seamless enroutesectionals were incredible The app worked enroute perfectly I have the Jepp app and the Garmin but this is much cheaper and works in the cockpit as well Good as Garmin
This app looks sweet at the look at the apps description and if it is true it would be the app like it but it does not run It just goes to a black screen It does not RUN
I really appreciate that I only need to update the files I need Good update
This is excellent for training Greatest app ever
I had to change my review due to this product becoming completely unreliable after it was changed to eKneeboard It continuously shuts down or will not open at all Like many we purchased the popular Flight Guide and now we are stuck with this mess I want my money back Was a superb product
I am a cfii and it has worked really well for me 90 of the flying I do is in just one state I have the bad elf gps for my iPad and it shows up it location on the chart and approach plates You have to PAY EXTRA to have that on fore flight It has worked well for me Paul
Still waiting to see if my files will load in the background Overall not bad Could make the process to get started easier My files are rather large so make sure you have a fast internet connection In the past my IPad would not sync with my Dual GPS receiver so I could not receive traffic That has been fixed so Im happy for now EKneeboard
I have been using iEFB for almost 2 years It has now been renamed eKneeBoard Or is it a new app I cant be sure Regardless iEFB was reliable and worked well I cannot say the same for eKneeBoard Since I have upgraded to eKneeBoard I have experienced stalled database downloads that required several restarts of eKB to finish Response time to screen touchinput is best measured in 10s of seconds The map fails to update properly leaving blank sections that can only be recovered by zooming the map out and back in again Position update is haphazard Turning off the colored circles over airports leaves black holes not the normal underlying chart symbols And today while away from home and expecting eKB to provide chart and airport data for my flight home it crashed and would not restart Once I got home using borrowed paper charts I deleted and reinstalled the software causing it to work again Well it hasnt crashed again but I havent tried using it in flight again The software clearly has promise I liked the app a lot as iEFB But this particular version eKB V531 is too buggy to depend on in the cockpit If you have this version be sure you have backup charts for any flight you make potentially good but unreliable
I subscribed to Flight Guide for years with paper copies The small size was great the airport info simply the best subscriptions understandable and prices reasonable Then they shifted to a large size They had all sorts of confusing options their website was atrocious and the lady who answered the phone indifferent But I subscribed another year or so and finally gave up Just now I thought Id see if they entered the 21st century properly Nope Theyre floundering worse than before with more changes forced on unwilling users I tried out the latest app a bit and its a poorly executed mishmash of the usual VFR Sectionals training plans weather maps and outofdate TFR info the latter could provide you some unexpected F16 company Oh and buried in the mix are their stillexcellent airport diagrams and guides Its really unfortunate the owners of Flight Guides didnt offer their product at a wholesale level to WingX ForeFlight and similar properly done inflight apps Instead the junk they are moving to will just hasten their demise Too bad The Decline and Fall of a Good Airport Guide
I dont know if these guys do this as some sort of joke or what but this is the clumsiest most ridiculous app ever Thanks but no thanks Ill plan my flights by hand Morons Worst APP EVER
After writing a bad review their support team did respond to one of my emails They said they intend to launch new standalone training apps shortly If this is true and I get access to the content for which I already paid then I have few gripes I will revise this review pending the full response from this app publisher Formerly This application has been sold and repackaged repeatedly If you pay for incourse content they cycle the app and you lose access when the older app is removed and the new app is brought up under a new name The content is unchanged Several of their websites do not work and you cant submit issues via those systems DO NOT PURCHASE any inapp courseware You might lose access within a few months and the nature of the app is the media has to be redownloaded frequently Review pending
I got this for the flight guide info which is no longer supported by flightguide themselves Besides the inair crashes and lock ups there is the following issue when looking at airport info and wanting to see a plane old airport diagram the app sometimes suppresses the diagram and shows the google maps satellite view if it thinks there is internet connectivity The app gets confused by wifi presence in flight say from a stratus and tries to download a google satellite view when there is no real internet connectivity Clearly this app is written and tested by folks that never do any real flying Support is about the worst I have experienced Disappointed
Good job mike Really like it Nice
Updates very slowly Crashes periodically Not as intuitive as the original version Was told customer support was busy and would call me right back That was 2 days ago Have been a loyal Flight Guide customer for 12 years both books and web Looks like I am going to have to switch to one of the many other providers Does not work as well as the original
Downloaded this app using foreflight and have never looked back Beautiful interface and very intuitive to use great EFB Awesome Aviation App
Not sure where all these 5 star reviews are coming from For an example of a suspicious review check out Pilotfreaks review from Jan 2 2014 This app definitely needs a lot of work but the developers havent released anything since last year For example there is no way to view METARs and TAFs Also the flight planning is absolutely woeful Better off using a paper chart and a sectional Basically this is a PDF library with a moving map Suspicious Reviews
This app is terrible The first username is at least forty characters long and you are not allowed to change it The app creates a password that is completely unknown to the user and when the app tells you to click the More button for tech support it will not open because the registration pop up over rides all other function DO NOT BUY THIS APP Stinks
It looks good but the listing of airports is froze on one airport in Colorado I think and I cannot get it to move eKneeboard
Bought the app Private Pilot from AnywhereEducation for 299 23 years ago and I have been in contact with the support that it doesnt work and now realised that the app is no longer available on Itune Beware of the company because of this bad history of scamming Now I notice that they are selling the same product under ekneeboard and expecting gullible like me to pay another 200 for the same product I am looking at legal options against this scam artists Scam
I use this program for my flight training and for flying While it takes quite a bit of memory and resources to operate it is very informative and great situationally Using the charts specifically the approach overlay feature are great ways of increasing situational awareness and the library is updated regularly As long as you can pay for the subscription this app provides great information educationally great charts and good customer service if something is not functioning right I recommend this app to any pilot looking for a good chart replacement with an educational refresher option Great chart replacement
I like this software as I liked its predecessor However the users guide leaves much to be desired with regard to the information contained within the charts and when downloading charts will be redundant Also it gives no clue as to where the airport data resides There seems to be some language issues regarding translations also All of the information that I got from support should have been contained within the users guide Work no more
As other reviewers mentioned this app may be good IF it worked I jumped through all the loops but it will never let me enter Also tells me to turn on data for cellular use Well it IS on Activated several times but never got to enter One time the screen went black If you want to use this app for flying you must be willing to accept the consequences Deleted the app and will change my email too so that I wont have to pu up with more junk A waste of time
It used to work but now upon launch it sits in the splash screen for about 15 seconds then returns to the iPad home screen My iPhone has the identical behavior maybe a recent update broke it Doesnt Work Anymore
Hasnt worked since I got it Does not work
I was pretty much forced to switch to eKneeboard when Flight Guide suddenly announced that it was suspending its providing of iEFB and expecting all its subscribers to switch to eKneeboard to continue service EKneeboard has many similarities to iEFB enough to make you think that it might have the same underlying code But I have found that eKneeboard has reliability issues which make it a poor substitute for iEFB It is always slow to start and occasionally hangs on startup It also stops responding when running especially when switching between airport and map mode And sometimes it just shuts itself down without warning Sure it has plenty of features I still love the Flight Guide data where else can you find out about restaurants and hotels But in the cockpit we need reliability When i start it up I need to know its going to work and right now all I can do is HOPE its going to work If this app doesnt improve I expect I will let my subscription expire and try something else Air Nav Pro has fewer features and is only a VFR app but its a fraction of the eKneeboard price too Not an improvement
Iv been using this program for over a year now and over all it has been a great planning and nav aid my only big complaint is that eKnee Boards customer service is nonexistent at best Other wise it has been a reliable ill be it a bit slow on my old iPad2 and useful tool for my VFR flying great product poor customer service
Has a lot of potential but has a lot of things that need to be fixed Screen slow to react to taps ADSB very slow to acquire WX if at all Wait over and hour for WX and never got it I am based less than 10 miles from a transmitter and the other apps Ive tried had no problems with WX or traffic Support is lacking Ive gotten the same response twice that a update will be out is less than a week to address the problems noted well its been months no update I would love to see this app succeed Has a way to go
This application is extremely fragile as well as not having accurate information If you dont use it for a month or so it crashes and you have to download virtually everything including the app and the data plan all over again Considering the app and data plan is over 15 GB it could take a long time to download I dont feel like I can always trust the airport information either For example the runways at Coeur dAlene airport are not correct I will not be renewing my subscription Fragile app
Its a great concept and a lot of great new features have been added since the name change Im not sure I will ever upgrade it again however The last time I did it stopped working and the only fix was to delete it then reload it and completely download all the data all over again It was very time consuming and fortunately my next flight wasnt scheduled for a couple of days I really like this app however because it is simple to use but has a lot of features if you want to use them I suspect that if I am patient the developers of this app will eventually get the bugs out and figure out how to make this app work as smoothly as the Big Boys maybe even become one of the Big Boys Skylane Its a great idea doesnt always work smoothly
I used the app today for practice IFR approaches and I am happy to root that the approach plates overlay were ego referenced and help tremendously with situational awareness Highly recommended Great Performance
I use it on my ifr training Good app for training
This is a nice lookIng app Unfortunately it will not calculate winds to provide accurate ETEs Fuel Burns or ETAs The developers have promised a Major update in just a few days that will fix these problems Problem is they have been promising this for weeks with no follow through or updates If you are a serious aviator and want an app that is useful instead of just pretty use ForeFlight Pretty app that doesnt work
Excellent functionality great support and pricing Use the utility and try the lessons they are top notch Dont leave the ground without it
