I needed an app to replace PlainText when they started putting ads in it and I didnt want to pay 499 for just text to DropBox Droptext gets the job done nicely It is fast simple and easy to use I can edit text with it and the price is right I hope they add auto saving in the future so you dont have to manually save when leaving a document or periodically during your work Also it may seem minor but Id like the ability to change the color scheme With those additions Id bump up to five stars Nice little text app for Dropbox
It is a great idea but doesnt even support word documents this should not be a paid app if you dont even get the most widely used format capadability Needs docx
But not so great looking I like it because you can create new files and folders in Dropbox The bad thing is that its so greenyellow and ugly that I hardly want to spend time writing in it Plain white or something would be much better Great for editing text
Pretty good product Crashes were apparently a corrupted file on my part deleting and reinstalling took care of it Right now the files repeatedly duplicate as Xs conflicting copy when I make multiple rapid edits saving between I wish it wouldnt do that but its partly on my editing style as I dont want to lose unsaved changes in case of interruptions Pretty good after all Updated

Does EXACTLY what I was looking for Perfect
drop text is a great program with the exception that evry text document that you create or modify becomes one long string of text when it is opend by any program other than droptext Then enter funtion is bacially removed from the document so all the charictors of text exist on one continuous line This program is very well layed out but is compleatly lame unless you plan to only access your text files on your Ipad Almost with one MAJOR NOT QUITE
This app works exactly as they say it does Very intuitive with a level of usefulness many others lack Fast stable its reliability is very refreshing Does what I need it to do without distractions or wasted keystrokes For frequent Dropbox users like myself this app is a must have An Excellent Trouble Free App

This app works great BUT if youre a PC user go to settings and set line ending to PC This will let you make additionscorrections to your Dropbox files and have them read correctly on your PC I advise putting copies of a few of your text files into a special folder in Dropbox and playing with them Be sure read them on the PC as they will look great in Dropbox on the iPad Enjoy IMPORTANT for PC users

What I wanted was to be able to search for text in a Dropbox text file This is a good app but it doesnt do what I want Good reader will do the search that I want so I will continue to use that instead of this app Dropbox edit

Ive been a reasonably happy droptext user for years The current version doesnt work properly with iOS8 When backgrounded the keyboard ends up in a strange state The app hasnt been updated for over a year This leaves me wondering if it has been abandoned ios 8 breaks this
Its not as pretty as Write or as fast as Dropbox but it gets the job done The interface is a bit unintuitiveI didnt see that tapping the icon vs the file name gave me different functions and I couldnt find any instructions online Overall it works and thats the main thing for me Best Dropbox editor so far

I do PR work for a number of places as well as some writing for newspapers and magazines First most of these places appreciated unformatted text as they will be putting the text into their own layout system and often embedded characters in Word etc drives them nuts Second I am seldom in one place for more than a day and it is nice to get works in progress without iTunes This inexpensive app Dropbox a simple and effective system It would get five stars if I could store the text locally on my iPad when not near a wifi spot Good for writers in many ways

This app is great It does exactly what it says it does Ive never had a problem retrieving my files though a local cache option would be nice And since I love aesthetics I would really love to see them re do the GUI because its a little cheap and old fashioned Just change the yellowish background at least Other than that its perfect I dont even use the default notes app just this The perfect notes app

used to work great for editing my papers on the bus but now it wont edit an rtf file and sometimes the navigation buttons on the top disappear not working

This app allows me to pick up right where i left off in my Dropbox files When used in conjunction with the Dropbox mobile app you can edit your HTMLCSSjsXML with ease Could use word wrap and a tab key but otherwise it is phenomenal Great for coding on the go
Apparently rtf isnt a plain text file Should have read the fine print though it doesnt mention rtf explicitly Apart from that works fine Cant edit rtf
I paid for it and it shows up as downloaded but the icon vanished off my ipad2 as quickly as it showed up Disappeared
This is a great app Also the fact that it only edits text files is clearly written in the app description For those of you who are complaining that it does not edit other types of documents go look for other apps that do that This one does exactly what it says it does and it does it well Great for text files
When closing a file and selecting the Save As option Droptext writes over the original file Workaround is to open original file copy all data close original open new file and paste the copied data Dont use save as
It does not edit Word documents hence its useless to me and it took me an eternity to figure this out because this vital piece of information was not revealed anywhere I found it on a blog post somewhere after the fact I wasted 107 The principal of that loss bothers me Meh
