App is stuck on loading and wont install After a bit the app pops a notice saying retry and it starts whole whole downloadinstall process again then rinse and repeat I have iPad 2 iOS 9 and even set my iPad up as new device Not internet issue as I can download and play ff7 no problem I will give it a 5th star when I can enjoy the game 4 stars because it is a dragon quest though              Wont install

First of all this game is amazing If you havent played it then even a shoddy port wont take little away from how awesome this game is That being said for the high price point and one of the great companies like Square Enix Im disappointed in the port There are a couple of issues Id really hope them to fix The frame rate on an iPhone 6 is questionable at best It feels like 20fps Thats the fastest iOS device that slams any PS2 in a head to head comparison and yet the game doesnt run smooth sky textures are incredibly low res and look just bad I can see why they do this for an iPhone 4 but not for for an iPhone 6 Its time developers are adjusting for newer devices esp if they charge premium like this 20 the lack of the VO is really saddening me Its like missing 40 of what made this game extra special I hope hope hope Square will offer a download for these Heck Id pay another 10 for just that Im sure there are 10 special iOS sentences that are not voiced but please dont worry about that and just release the 9999 of VO from the PS2 version before you can check whether an item can be equipped you have to transfer it to a player This makes itemization incredibly cumbersome the lack of a widescreen option for this game baffles me I commend Square for creating a unique and fitted mobile mode for this game but that doesnt mean I wouldnt want an option for a widescreen setting Just like the PS2 version lack of MFI support Id love an option to adjust the camera speed its super slow moving it around and also the ability to increase the upper screen half camera zone Maybe even a dual stick mode for the game So game is great but Id recommend to hold off until Square puts some extra effort behind this Esp at that price point        Great game shoddy port

One of the greatest games of all time in the palm of my hand The final fantasy 7 of the DQ SERIES This game only deserves 5 stars NO ISSUES at all I dont know how people complain about this version Playtime is over 80 hours on my file and I am doing the postgame This game was 60 on the ps2 and would gladly pay that for this version but its a lot cheaper If you have never played a DQ game this is the perfect game to start with If you like RPGs then download immediately In the same class as chrono trigger FF7 xenogears I still play through the original PS2 game almost once a year If you like RPGs then download this immediately and I promise you wont regret it Totally worth the money I have had no issues on iPhone 5 Quick save works fine and can use other apps without losing your place It will only restart if you stress the phones ram by loading numerous games and webpages If you just text call and minor web browsing it wont reload The game looks great on the retina display too There is no voice audio but doesnt bother me a bit it would just double the size of the file And you cannot play in landscape view Scared at first but surprisingly it didnt bother me a bit and was actually preferring the ability to play with one hand Those are the only 2 things that could pose a problem to a minor few people OMG DOWNLOAD IT ALREADY                 One of the greatest of all time

The game itself is awesome the port however is not The game crashes a lot thankfully it has autosave feature preventing total loss of progress But it doesnt save after every action I killed the 2nd boss after so many deaths and then BAM it crashes Not once but twice Fix this     Fix this crashing problem

Wow what a great game for mobile So much of what I loved about the original DQ8 is retained in this iteration The graphics are beautifully stylized the music is instantly memorable and the characters are charming even without their great voice overs I would love to give this game 5 stars but I would really like the option to play in landscape mode I can understand why portrait mode generally makes sense for phones although maybe not the 6 but I see no reason why the option isnt available for iPads Please make this happen Square Enix              A Nearly Perfect Port

I played this game nonstop when I was a kid When my ps3 wasnt backwards compatibleI got really sad I couldnt play it anymore I got this on my iPad mini and I love love love it It does crash every once in a while which is a real bummer But the new quick save option is a lifesaver I didnt think Id get used to the new controls but they come natural now Its worth every penny                 Nostalgic

Never got a chance to play this gem on ps2 If I did it would have been my favorite all time rpg ios version is actually a really good port Controls are a piece of cake and not annoyingi suggest buying this game if youre a fan of JRPGs                 Amazing game

The controls especially the camera are very hard to use Not intuitive or easy at all It was bad enough that I had to just stop and delete the game after about 2 hours of play I still gave it 2 stars instead of 1 however because it isnt a freetoplay freemium game and has a good premise Seems like it had a lot of promise Too bad        Controls are tough

This game is fantastic First of all on a retina screen these graphics look better than the original Also the controls are easy to figure out and work with despite being on a tiny screen I usually only need one thumb to run around battle smash pots or talk to shopkeepers Another great thing about this game is that it is easy to play for 10 minutes or 10 hours depending on how much time you have to kill It doesnt require internet and can therefore be played anywhere from plane rides to the bus stop Lastly Ive found that it barely drains my battery as I play I played for two hours prior to writing this and it looks like I still have 6070 charge left on my ipodtouch 5g Thats even better than some of the match3 games Ive played But enough about that what about the game I bought this game on sale for 13 but would have gladly paid the full price From these mobile games I have come to expect about an hours worth of entertainment for every dollar I spend I am currently 10 hours into the game and have still barely started the story so there is no shortage of content here This game features a charming cast of characters on an adventure for revenge and restoration from the despicable Dhoulmagus Their world is filled with monsters ranging from whimsical slimes to dangerous demons The game has a serious plotline that spans across an expansive world but doesnt take itself too seriously and has many lighthearted moments There are also many things to do beside the main story Every area is crafted in detail with chests hidden in various nooks and rare monsters in others There is also a monster arena where the player can duel using various monsters they have found An alchemy pot also becomes available for the player to create better items from the gear they dont need anymore I am sure that there are more sidethings that I simply cant remember or havent encountered yet Overall this is a great game with hours of entertainment and a fantastic set of story and characters Well worth the buy                 Great port of a great game

Great game amusing storyline if you care to read Despite lacking VOs and other s that was done after localization this game is still solid Portrait mode isnt a huge factor unless you have a problem with just simply swiping left and right for the camera Overall I say if youve never experienced the DQVIII of the PS2 this is a fine place to start Slight framerate issues but is easily overlooked for me instead of 30FPS itll drop to 27 occasionally on my 5S Again for me this isnt a big issue cause the games still playable and I have yet to experience any crashes at all solid money spent for a great classic on you phone                 Very good port

Update 10012015 Ive beaten this game twice and it is PERFECT especially on the 6s plus this is the BEST control scheme and presentation for an iOS RPG Portrait mode and one hand play needs to be the standard on mobile For first time players the story is exceptional and once you get past the lack of voice acting ok I still miss that you will be engaged until the end This is the gold standard of JRPG Older I have the joy of being able to play this game for the first time The controls are weird but I got used to them quickly Update the controls are super fluid once you get used to them I wish every iOS RPG had a one handed option The portrait mode is done well you usually dont feel like your missing anything Update after an hour or so of play you dont even miss the landscape view Everything is there and the one handed convenience of the portrait view is unbeatable I really would like voice acting to be included in a future update Update I still want voice acting              Near Perfect

Great story and gameplay loads of content This was the first dragon quest game I played and its gotten me interested in exploring the rest of the series despite them being so graphically different Its very very solid                 Epic and remarkable game

The port is great and I would love more games to be ported like this Good art Unfortunately the game itself is incredibly overrated Simple combat simple story one dimensional characters too many boring random battles which you can have the computer fight for you for added fun etc Its quest to be old school definitely comes to the detriment of its enjoyability Theres a reason its old school        Great Port of a Overrated Game

The game is great it is pretty much the same DQ8 game that was great on PS2 The only big problem I am having is that the game cannot be played in landscape mode I think it is ridiculous to play it in portrait mode especially for those who are playing from their phone like myself The next update really should correct this problem           Great but

Great game but keeps crashing after I updated to iOS 9 Always happens when transitioning to new screen and is random I can go back in and go right past the same spot with no issues Luckily theres quicksave and autosave but its still a pain              Crashes under iOS 9

The series of DQ is full of nostalgia and questing memories for many old fans that once played or were Introduced to series For the new fans the same experience should be given SQUARE ENIX PLEASE MAKE AN ORCHESTRA MUSIC AND VOICE ACTING EXPANSION With this old and even new fans will receive the original Questing experience all fans should play and have this as well would make it the original way the creators have intended to present it to the public when it launched PLEASE MAKE THE EXPANSION PACK OR DLC AS A SOLUTION TO KEEP YOUR oldnew DQ FANS HAPPY Thank you     ORCHESTRA MUSIC AND VOICE ACTING EXPANSION

One of the best parts of this game on the PS2 was the voice acting in the cutscenes Not including that part really ruins the experience for me Its just not the same        No audio track

I absolutely fell in love with this game when it came out on the ps2 and when I saw it on the App Store I had to get it The problem I have with this game is that the frame rate is horrible it clocks in at about 20 fps Square Enix REALLY needs to make an update for this that lets you change from portrait to landscape And cmon the controls are absolute trash Along with the camera issues This game has great potential to be something great           Has flaws

Big fan of the PS2 version so needless to say I miss the the voice acting epic orchestrated music and the other additions I think what killed it for me is not being able to play with my device horizontally Its such a great game doesnt it deserve a better port than this I want to play this so badly the way I remember it and please God add landscape that Id pay more money for the addon        Not what I hoped

Iphone 6 plus 64 GB When I tap on iCloud I get this message saying server authentication failed please check settings On my iPad Air 128 GB it works fine and both of my iCloud settings are exactly the same so Im thinking this is a bug that needs to be address for the iPhone plus Games runs smooth but I want to play this on my iPhone on the go so sad face              iCloud authentication failed

Hey guys this game is so good that I want to see it improved I loved the original for ps2 but it needs something It needs to be able to be turned sideways or landscape style so that we can play with more room on our device              Great but

Game runs smooth and fits entire screen on iPhone 6 The only negative is no voice acting Game auto saves if you leave game suspended of activity for a time and quick save for dungeonstraveling The story to this games is interesting I recommend dragon quest viii and v as they are perfect to me                 Great game

Music writing combat graphics this game hits every category dead center creating a wonderful experience Mind you it doesnt work for iPhone 4 tried it and the phone got SUPER hot iPad or iPhone 5 or above is the way to go iPad 2 does crash during extended play but saving and turning the app off completely via the task menu really mitigates that problem Let nothing stand in your way of experiencing this game                 Stellar Game

After trying this on the iPad I can say that this is not a very good port Compared to the play station 2 version back in the day This version run choppy with very sloppy controls More of an eye sore really Whoever coded this port deserves a well deserved spanking and while there cheeks are red give the money back to every customer in order to make it square again Or just simply come with an update which resolves these issues     Not a good port

Loved this game It is great I would have liked a landscape option but whatever you get used to it being vertical I have bought all the released FF ports and played and loved them all I have done the same with the dragon quest series But SQUARE ENIX I am calling you out The port of this game proves you can port what everyone really wants GIVE US FINAL FANTASY 7 Please                 Give us what we want already Port FF VII

If you missed this amazing game the first time around then either find a ps2 copy get an emulator or wait for it to come out on psn The port doesnt have the incredible voice acting that brought so much life to the characters The controls are a mess and they sacrificed far too much by trying to make the game playable with one hand No landscape mode available The fixed camera looks like it was designed by a blind person DQ8 is an amazing game and one of my favorite jrpgs of all time This port is terrible and I cannot recommend it to anyone        Great game terrible port

Its pretty pricy for an iPad app but hey at least it exists If your anything like me this was by far the best dragon quest you played and to be honest I played it when I was like 10 and Im 14 now so Id love to go back and play it again on an iPad instead of ps2              Bit expensive

There is no reason my iPhone 6 shouldnt be able to run this game smoothly Lousy frame rate even on modern hardware Just a poorly optimized port To charge a premium price on iOS should mean you put a premium effort into the game I want my money back     Garbage port with bad frame rate

Bad controls and camera are wonky Frame rate is not smooth on iPhone 6 but not too bad that it is unplayable Good combat and story is amazing If the frame rate were improved a bit as well as controls this could be one of the top RPGs ever I wouldnt buy on any device less that iPhone 6 if frame rate bothers you otherwise pick this game up its worth it              Great game

I waited to play Dragon Quest IV on IOS first before getting this and overall that was a better port However about 5 hours in I am pleased so far First Id like to say that people should stop complaining about the lack of voice acting in this version because it is the Japanese version It really shouldnt be a factor Also the synth sound actually works better for a mobile device in my opinion This version actually has a couple of advantages over the PS2 First the skill allocation menu makes it much easier to smartly allocate your skill points when leveling up In the old version it was a blind allocation meaning if you didnt save your points right you could end up one point away from a skill that could be helpful and yet have to wait a whole other level to get it This feature is really helpful Second this game is well suited to grinding and a mobile device makes a great platform to play this sort of game I will say however that those who have complained about the frame rate are right The slowdown is definitely noticeable especially if youve played the original Because of this I must give it 4 stars Overall a good buy              Great game for IOS just needs some improvements

The game speaks for itself for any previous fans but the format threw me through a loop at first and the idea didnt make sense to me But as I played I began to enjoy it Keep in mind Im playing on a newly upgraded 6 So the screen is still plenty large enough while vertical But the format is an odd choice nonetheless Yet it works Its great for multitasking has a quicksave feature is glitch free 5 hours in nearly straight and is a faithful greatlooking HD rendition on the go For any Dragon Quest fan its a must for new fans or any JRPG fans you owe it to yourself to hate yourself for spending so much time playing it                 Surprisingly Great Oddly Fun Classic

After about an hour or so into the game i see why people say its one of the best The characters stand out the story so far engages the player and the actual mechanics for playing single handed in portrait mode work really well I do have a couple complaints but im not sure if theyre due to hardware restrictions or not using iphone 4S In large areas framerate is around 60 music plays just fine And the terrain textures in waterfall cave dont seem to load 100 Almost the whole area was pitch black except where immediately affected by the torches To my standards these issues arent super important but they did cost the full 5 star rating              Incredible
