The game that started the legend of DRAGON QUEST is here at last for mobile devices Discover the RPG that won the hearts of two generations Enter a fantasy world of sword, magic, and monsters in one ...
I haven t been able to play It freezes after nearly every battle on the text saying victory Ok so I think the problem is listening to music while playing and not sure why that messes it up         Freeze after battles Chuckles1982
Surprisingly I have never touched this game before now It is simple and easy to pick up and play The controls are great and feel natural for iOS Didnt take me very long to beat the game but I can see why it is a classic                 Playing for the first time
Im so glad that square Enix finally ported some of the DQ games onto iOS It feels just like the original with an updated touch to it and it fits this style of game perfectly Cant wait to see what other classics get ported to iOS along with the rest of the DQ series                 Its about time
I didnt know where I was going or what I was doing it doesnt tell me how to do anything it leaves me on my own to fend for myself     This is so unclear
When defeating enemies there is a short lull in the dialog box between Victory and listing the EXP and gold earned Otherwise a good trip down memory laneI couldnt beat it when it first came out              Good flashback gameone minor improvement
This is the father of all Japanese RPGs Its simple but a lot of fun The controls work very well too although I wish there was a scheme where the dpad just appears anywhere you touch and for toggle landscape mode Awesome game You wont regret                 Awesome
I like turtles And Video games And DQ 3                 Awesome
Both DQ1 and DQ2 suffer from this issue It looks as though the images are stretched over my iPhone 6s screen without taking into account the original screen ratio Thus some pixels and squished and others are stretched It gives both games a seriously unprofessional and unmaintained look Ive heard that other games in the series dont suffer this fate but because of how these have been handled I will not be purchasing other Dragon Quest games on iOS     Awful Graphics Treatment
Very fluent throughout gameplay                 Awesome
Loved dragon warrior on the nes But the controls are so difficult just to move around it makes it impossible to like this version TC2K     Aweful experience
Appears to have a few bugs Crashing on me irregularly           Fun classic but
Of course its not exactly the same as the US Version but pretty close Didnt have any hiccups upon quick saving or using the phones home button to tab out of the game and come back later to where I left off The only downside to this game is that the monster xp and gold drops are scaled too high removing a lot of the fun grinding time Ex Gold Golems dropping 650g              Very similar to Dragon Warrior
I loved the original for NES By the looks of it this is the same as it was then just a different name Im excited to take a trip back in time                 Dragon warrior
The game is great but there is one bug that grinds my gears I cant listen to music while playing the game Please change this Hundreds of people other than me want to see this changed           Major Bug
Not sure why but after about 510 min of gameplay the game crashes back to the ios home screen I would like to play this game since it is considered a classic but cannot get past first town to the east because of the bugs Hope it gets fixed after paying what I did for this game     Cant play on iPad 2 due to crashing
I always craved a recreated experience of playing the original Dragon Quest This app does that and more Music is stupendous and gameplay and puzzle solving is just as challenging as before Yes there is level grinding this series invented that but its a fun experience and one that works perfectly for on the go gaming                 Excellent Game
Killer port of a seminal game The bugs arent bad enough to not give this 5 stars                 Must play for JRPG fans
I really enjoy playing this game once again on iOS it Rings me back to when I first got the game on NES through a Nintendo Power magazine promotion I have two requests for SquareEnix to update please add cloud saving so I can resume my game from iPhone and iPad next I would like to see a landscape format to play with my device sideways              Nostalgic fun
FYI this game came out before FFanyway this game is for old school retro rpg lovers Maybe some of you younger gamers may not be familiar with its gameplay but give it a chance This game really started it all                 Its Dragon Quest
If you never played the original then this game probably wont impress you But for those of us who played Dragon Warrior in the late 1980s Man is this awesome The game worked flawlessly and battling foes from 25 years ago was a blast Ill be purchasing the next installment with glee                 Worth it for the nostalgia
Classic JRPG but the lack of being able to use your own music is a huge deal Dont get me wrong whats here is good But a lot of the game is grinding for XP Hearing the same two tones and a few seconds of another song gets more tiring than the grinding Hope square patches it           No Background Music Support
Definitely a good game without question but like other retro RPGs also experienced this with the first FF game they tell you to do something but there is no way to know which way to go              Good but
I always wanted to see what this was like Am not disappointed                 Finally
Im thoroughly impressed Not only did Square Enix revive the franchise in a fantastic port but theyve redone my favorite theme music the overworked theme The controls are great for a touch interface Im actually surprised at how well they work on my phone It has some problems but none are all that noticeable that dragon quest veterans will still enjoy the game                 Perfect nostalgia revamped soundtrack
Fantastic remake and a great value Controls are smooth and graphics have cleaned up nicely Well worth the price for a chance to play a classic RPG                 Dragon Quest
Let me start off by saying Im not that big into RPGs at all because I usually can never find the ones I want But I saw that this series was a really good one so I thought Id try it And let me tell you it was about 3 times worse than I expected The graphics in the game were preety good for an NES game and SOME of the music was good but some of it felt out of place it sounded like an actual orchestra instead of chip tune The story was really simple Just go and save the princess The world map seemed really big at first but as you went along you realized that you were gigantic and the world was small and filled with monsters Monsters that reminds me there were monsters every five steps you took It was absolutely crazy And the biggest complaint of all though was the fact that there was only one person to fight with This might just be me but in an RPG I think there should be multiple characters to make it feel more strategic as a team instead of just worrying whether I should attack or flee So overall Gameplay 410 Music 510 Graphics 610 Length 410 Overall 510        Dragon mess
The controls are good and the game was fun Now starting number 2                 Classic RPG
Wish it was optimized for the iPhone 6 It tends to crash quite often           Great game
This game is so fun A great classic that made it to the iOS and I really appreciate that But my phone is also my source of music and radio and every time you open the game it stops your music You can start it again by using your headphones to hit play but when you finish a battle and it says victory t freezes when it should tell you how much Eco and gold you get It would be really nice to have that fixed cause playing games and listening to music goes hand in hand Especially no adays when everyone walks around with their jams playing Thanks again for the great game with barely any bugs Still timeless and fun              Music stops playing and freezes after battle
Awesome app but spells need to be applied during the turn in which you use them                 Hrhrhrh
Really every time you die you lose half your gold Even if you save LOTS of fun     Nonsense gameplay
The Dragon Quest series has been my favorite since Dragon Warrior on the NES It is nice to have this version on my device Now Square Enix localize more DQ games in the NA market                 More DQ in NA
Its a wonderful game But I really want Dragon Quest IX on the App Store              Awesome But
Huge Dragon Quest fan Graphics look great Compared to the GBC version I was happy about a few things and not so happy about some others Walking walking speed seems to be a little faster which is good Maps A few of the maps were changed which seemed a little needless and really didnt add to the experience Not terrible though Just expect to be a little lost on the final castle if youre a return player Controls Not bad once you get used to them I wasnt all that excited about the omission of the search under foot option which has been replaced with shining tiles where items can be found with the action button It feels a little spoonfed and takes away from the game In the original you had to speak to NPCs to get hints about the location of items that were hidden Now you can just see them outright Music They orchestrated the music Not sure how I feel about that I likes the old chiptune sounds Quicksave Definitely a convenience and you dont have to use it if you want a a more classic experience Overall it was a nice experience and worth the 299 I still like Dragon Quest III Dragon Warrior III on GBC better although Im skeptical about the omissions made to the iOS version This one is technically the RPG that started it all and its worth a play through              Pretty cool port
I love this game This is definitely the definitive version of Dragon quest                 Just buy it
I got the original NES Dragon Warrior with a subscription to Nintendo Power Magazine in like 87 88 maybe I played the hell out of it it might have been the first game I ever beat on my own This port is about 80 spot on The graphics are actually twice as good as the OG The plot and game play are more or less the same too I will warn that either the enemies are weaker the hero is much stronger or Im just better at 8 bit gaming than I was when I was 1011yo The only complaint I had was that in the original when you left a dungeon all the treasure chests recharged in this version once open theyre permanently emptied But hey thats a small thing Over all I enjoyed this thoroughly If youre an old school Dragon Warrior fan Im sure you will too              Pretty true to the OG NES version
Weird Bug I downloaded the game and it caused my entire phone to loose its touchscreen It became unresponsive and would not move the screen phasing in and out After removing the game this bug stopped              Buggier than a big bug bugging out on a dune buggy
I see in the reviews that people are complaining about how the story is basic This is the first JRPG ever to be released It created all the RPG cliches Buy this if you want to experience one of the first RPGs ever              Great Game
This is a remake of a NES classic So of course this doesnt have many modern day conveniences but if you can look past that you have yourself a beautiful and fun JRPG Heads up you gotta grind a lot to level up                 Awesome version of an awesome game
As a 3 purchase the games worth the money The port is very well done There are just some minor annoyances with the touch screen to walk and talk but youll get used to it However this game shows its age It was made in 1986 and although the visuals are Snes quality the gameplay is rather archaic There is only 1 save point in the whole game to which you will have to constantly return and wont be easy to return until mid game Most of the games length is due to grinding which is extremely repetetive even for jrpg standards However your stats increase a lot each time you level up and you learn useful soells by leveling up so theres some incentive Expect a 10 hour game even by using a guide Not reccomended for people who dont enjoy jrpgs or games that require patience and repetitive grinding I didnt enjoy it as much but it is a polished port noneteless              Only for Retro fans
This port stays true to form with updates that truly add to the experience With new graphics and a great soundtrack this is the best form of English Dragon Quest money can buy                 Wonderful even today
As someone who spent hours upon hours playing the original classic on the NES I find this port of the game to be an incredible remake Im loving the updated graphics the Olde English dialogues and the full orchestral soundtrack The most unbelievable part is that this game was 50 originally and has been lovingly revamped and improved upon for 3 If youre a fan of the original dont miss this one                 Absolute classic
Aside from a few harmless glitches in the text a near perfect version of the NES classicif only Enix had not attempted to Americanize this title 25 years ago we not have to worry about localization the franchise would have sold like madness                 An absolute classic
To love this game you have to Love to level grind If you do not then this game isnt for you Some other reviews are being way too harsh on this game and they think theyre getting something completely different This is a classic NES style RPG Grknd buy better equipment level up kill dragon save princess The beauty is in the simplicity                 Classic Dragon Quest
I actually have played this game once before on gameboy color in the combination gameboy DW1 and DW2 game cartridge thats what it was called back in the day anyway Now comparing it to that version this one is WAY better The best part of this game is that u dont need an Internet connection and cell service on to play and save just fine or even one of them for that matter So what are u waiting for If u are an old school rpg fan or are curious about them go ahead and buy this                 Worth playing
Great port Highly recommend if you are into retro RPGs I encountered no bugs what so ever                 Great
Yes                 Yes
Dragon Quest was one of the best games I have played in a long time Its simple fairly short and perfect for mobile I loved every bring about the game and how well they ported it to mobile                 Fantastic Classic
The subtle updates only improve on a simple but masterful production Perfect                 Perfect Port Perfect Game
Just classic                 Still fun today
Just how I remembered it as a kid now on my iPhone                 Classic
