DoF Viewer

Even a experienced photographer can learn a lot from this app I especially like the expert CoC that allows me to set the circle of confusion to include the print size viewing distance and visual acuity The app works well Like the previous reviewer Id like to see more intelligent use of English units                 Great app

This app has been out for three years and has been revised through version 31 I am surprised that there are only 13 reviews This is a great app well designed and quickly provides DOF and HFD analysis at varying field conditions The graphical summaries are fantastic and the Expert CoC calculations appear to be well done The Help summary of CoC is very good I would recommend this app to any photographer wanting to develop a better understanding of DOF and HFD The iPad is the best easy to manipulate and view great graphic and human interface design and flawlessly uses iPad real estate The iPhone implementation is limited by smaller form factor but still accomplishes most of what iPad does Recommendations iPhone not able to set up Camera2 Having a reference camera is quite useful iPad and iPhone 1 suggest using decimal ft for Imperial units switching to decimal inches at distance less than 30 ft 2 provide better description on proper focal length to use on DX size sensors lens FL 18mm effective FL 28mm at crop factor of 15 which to use I believe 18mm is entered and calculations adjust for sensor specific crop factor Clarification would help Easy 5 Stars                 DOF and HFD Done Right

After researching other DoF apps I found DoF Viewer to be much more detailed and useful than the others Pros I love that you can see a comparison of DoF for all fstops simultaneously I also love the field of view page to see exactly how much of a scene you can capture from a given distance using a particular focal length lens on a particular camera Cons The focal length bar graph showing the in focus range is useful in general but doesnt appear to be accurate regarding how much distance is in focus green in front of the subject vs in back of the subject though the numbers appear to be accurate The histogram graph is a bit confusingIm still trying to understand its usefulness Also there appears to be no way to contact the developer regarding bugs or feature requests Other than this I absolutely love this app and would have gladly rated it 5stars              Just what I was looking for

Only improvement I would like is the ability to specify very specific focus distances Using a slider is imprecise              Very useful

There is a lot of information packed into this display It takes a little while to figure it all out but the results are far more detailed and useful than any other lens simulator app that I have seen out there One concern however when comparing a full frame 5D MkII to an APSC 7D on the top left pane this app is showing a larger DOF for the 5D than for the 7D This goes against the expected              Elegant rich display Perhaps a bug

I like the app a lot and works well Needs to have English units reworked so they are more intelligently selected and rounded off              Good featuresneeds work in English units

This app tells you an awful lots about focus parameters and does so in a very professional way You can set up 2 cameras so that the app has a basis for its calculations Cheap at this price                 Plenty of info well displayed

Easy to set up and easy to use The graphic information gives a clear understanding of how the depth of field changes over the range of aperture choices Excellent app              Great dof calculator

Im impressed All the information I want displayed professionally I have purchased 4 depth of field apps several which cost at least twice as much searching for the right app for a person who owns multiple cameras This is it I do have a request Please add support for the Nikon 1 V3                 A Bargain

A nice upgrade to an already useful tool Unlike most other DoF utils this one shows some nice graphic visualizations that are extremely helpful Awesome app Thanks for continuing to improve on it                 A very nice DoF utility
