The Countertop app pairs with Prep Pad, the smart food scale made by The Orange Chef Company so you navigate, save, and share your nutritional and culinary endeavors in the kitchen. Using simple, intuitive design, ...
This is a fantastic idea and hardware that is being held back by the software Everything works great but it needs a way to add custom foods and a bigger database in general If this was combined with myfitnesspal it would be incredible        Incredible Potential
My wife purchased me The Orange Chef scale for my birthday since I have begun counting my macros I was very excited to use my new scale but noticed that it was not compatible with MyFitnessPal I had to give countertop a try anyway since it is the only app that works with the scale Huge mistake The Orange Chef The app is garbage and heres why think so The database is incredibly small compared to MyFitnessPal I cannot manually add food items and information unless I scan an unscannable barcode I have noticed the app freezing up on me and not allowing me to select certain buttons The Orange Chef needs to get rid of this app and pair with MyFitnessPal immediately They would please most consumers by doing so in my opinion What good is this scale of the app that operates it is flawed I give this two stars only because the scale itself seems to be fantastic        Amazing scale horrific app
There is SO much potential here but the app still lacks key functionality You cannot add custom ingredients and nutrition info Barcode database is VERY limited Searching for food in the nutrition database is horrendous returning many irrelevant or redundant results for instance searching for Almond Milk will return all items containing milk OR almonds And there is no way to preview the selected nutrition info from their database before adding it to your meal so its like taking a shot in the dark when choosing from their database There is very limited integration with Jawbones UP app now but if CounterTops own database is incomplete or inaccurate and prevents you from adding your own custom foods then that really hampers the usefulness of their device Id really love to see CounterTop use MyFitnessPals database and or integrate with their app like they already do with Jawbones UP app I would absolutely LOVE to use the Prep Pad scale alongside MyFitnessPals massive food database The innovation that Prep Pad CounterTop does show is severely hampered by the limitations of this app and their limited nutrition database        Beautiful Design Lacking Key Functionality Horrible Food Database
Bricked and i just bought the scale I understand needing time to adapt to ios9 but this cant be acceptable     App crashes Cant use the 150 device
This app is ehhhits good for fresh foods but doesnt have much loaded in the way of brand foods I also couldnt even find almond milk all it had was nonsoy imitation milk What is that They need to add ALOT more foods to the app or make it so that when you scan a bar code if the food doesnt exist in its data bank The app can automatically add the food and nutrition info so its data bank grows with the user I also think it should link to apps like my fitness pal and or body media        Ehhhh
I just received an iPad Mini 2 for my birthday I cant log in because user names are case sensitive and the app resets it to lower case     Cant log in on iPad
App crashes every time you try to open it on iOS 9 Ridiculous for how much you pay for the thing     App crashes
Received my scale and downloaded the iPad app the only thing I have found so far is occasionally I will scan a barcode and the product is not found but can find it when searching by productmanufacturer name manually              Liking this so far
If I cant use this as a simple scale also it is just a nice looking brick When it was featured on Kickstarter sure sounded like a scale measure 01 grams etc etc Please fix this ASAP     Needs urgent update
Needs a pure scale feature with conversions for those occasional times when nutrition is not important like weighing diamonds or making fudge           Is a simple scale too much to ask for
I love the concept behind the PrepPad and I was so very excited to get mine in the mail But Im finding that the PrepPad is so severely limited by serious problems with its app I think that OrangeChef has a great idea but theyre killing it with lack of updates to the application to correct serious usability and database issues First off many many foods for which Ive scanned bar codes simply dont exist in their database For most products that wouldnt be a problem if you can handenter the data But the PrepPad software does not allow for this simple functionality Ive found over 13 of the items Ive scanned arent found in their database and their databases vagueness makes it hard to determine what an equivilent item may be For example is that pasta serving weighed dry or cooked Theres a big difference there After weighing something out it MUST be saved to a meal or the data is simply chucked out of the system The application is rife with opportunities for the enduser to screw up their data entry leading to later problems A complete lack of integration with other applications makes this app even more frustrating it cant talk to commonly used apps like MyFitnessPal to tell it what you ate so you have to doubleenter everything Talking to their support team helped resolve some of the usability issues but they were surprised that I found the database limiting Yet time and time again Id pull something out of my fridge something that was in MyFitnessPal and be completely unable to find even a rough parallel in their database Additionally if you want to cook a large multiserving meal and then weigh out individual servings for calories its a nightmare Theres about four places where you can easily screw up and have it either disregard a data entry or purge your data altogether If you do successfully enter the food its unable to distinguish between users so my husbands calories cannot be tracked separately from my own So as an early adopter my feeling is this unless OrangeChef actually works out the usability issues and database problems the app renders their expensive scale as a notveryuseful gadget at best The last update to the software was months and months ago so Im starting to doubt their committment to supporting this product        Great ideas hindered by subpar database
Love the app Easy to use and set up is a breeze I love how well the app interfaces with the prep pad and that it has a label scanner which makes adding things very easy Only thing I would change is an easier way to switch between accounts so that multiple people can use it The app makes it very easy to visualize your nutrition and I really love how I can adjust my protein percentage Great app for the prep pad                 Great app interfaces well with scale
I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole process smooth easy Within 5 minutes of opening the scales box downloading the tiny app I had measured 2 meals understood the nutrition                 Very easysmooth
The idea is good Ive been wanting something like this for awhile so I wouldnt have to keep doing calorie math while cooking But the app is sooooooooo limited its hard to justify the cost of the Prep Pad itself Its food database is very small and the search terms are too specific It would be good it there was an option to add a failed barcode scans nutrition panel this would a good easy way to increase the database Also the pad is pretty small so if one for example wanted to make two salads at a time its impossible For people to want to use the device it needs to use easy and convenient not frustrating and time consuming which Id say it is I gave it two stars for effort but it is lacking so much        Need to try harder
This app presumes that all foods need to be weighed to add them to your day The real doesnt work that way and this app scale should evolve to ensure it stays relevant Required changes 1 ability to work with app while the scale is off or unavailable This seems like a no Brainer No one wants to spend all of their time in the kitchen to review their data 2 Ability to add foods that dont exist in the countertop database Again Seems like a no Brainer because thats a flexibility every user will need     ⅓ of the way
Very difficult to use as a simple scale and unable to add custom ingredients makes its utility very limited Doesnt seem to sense items weighing less than 5 grams in my tests so far App crashes if you take the iPad out of BT range while connected UI nice and clean but a bit clunky for kitchen use given how fiddly the key features are        Not really working
Really enjoying the scale and app The design and UI are slick and easy to use This app would be 5 star with a couple adjustments 1 Really would like the ability to add food not in the database 2 Being able to set macronutrient goals as actual grams instead of a percent Currently you have to get your daily calorie goal and figure out what percentage you need to match your macro targets Made setup a headache 3 I have 2 different macro goals depending on what day it is strength workout vs rest day Currently this is a PAIN to sort out Essentially have to change my calorie goal then mess with the macro percentages 4 Front facing camera for barcode scanning has yet to work for me Having good luck with the rear camera just not as simple as holding the package up to the screen when you need to pick up the iPad to scan Those adjustments will easily earn this app 5 stars The Preppad is still worth a purchase in the meantime           So Close
Just purchased the scale downloaded the app and tried to run it Alas under my iOS version 901 the app crashed on opening     How can I review a app that will not open
My UP app an countertop are now synced and I get special recommendations post workout Amazing stuff And now theres a scale mode in the app as well                 Jawbone UP integration wow
Great App for the Prep Pad instant insight to your nutrition in a well presented way Countertop combined with a heart rate monitor app for workouts enables me to manage my caloric balance and protein intake for peak performance                 Top App
The updates have made this the unique and useful tool that it was intended to be An amazingly easy and fun way to make meals with quite the education of the nutritional value of our food along the way I actually enjoy putting my meals together in the morning how close to perfect balance can I get                 Perfect
I love the app the only flaw that just completely ticks me off is that the meals only sync with my jawbone at 70 of the time and the jawbone integration is the only reason I bought it so please orange chef fix this           Kind of great app
This app will not working on any iPhone a puzzling omission given the promised support The iPad 3 requirement is expected due to the Bluetooth 4LE requirement     iPad only
Well i could not find how much calories have a home Made Grilled Chicken Thats what i mean i hope they join forces with My Fitness Pal data base couse this app needs data a lot Lets Wait for it        I love the Prep Pad but the app need To be bigger
Broken with iOS9 Continued horrible support ie none from Orange Chef     Broken horrible support
I ordered the prep pad and anxiously awaited its arrival only to be disappointed when I tried to use the app that it crashes upon opening I emailed orange chef and they said they know about the problem and are working on a fix In the meantime I own an expensive paper weight If they dont fix the app soon I am going to return it and ask for a refund     Do not purchase App does not work with ios9
The Prep Pad app does not work on iOS 9 Both the iPad and iPhone versions will crash on load every time Furthermore there is nowhere to offer feedback to the developers This has been a problem since the beginning of the iOS 9 betas so the developers have had more than enough time to address the issue The project appears stalled at best Avoid purchasing the scale until the issue is resolved as it will be completely useless to you     App Crashes Every Time
Just bought today and crashes immediately 100 useless     Immediately crashes
This app has been very well put together I love the graphical display of the calories carbs fats and protein when placing food on my Prep Pad Amazing work guys                 Works great
The UI is gorgeous but a few things are missing Logging ingredients isnt perfect I havent been able to get some common trader joes products to be found after scanning the barcode and there is no way to manually create an ingredient So I have to choose a similar ingredient which throws off the accuracy and Id argue the entire point of the product I cant find a way to use the thing as a simple scale What if I want to measure something that Im not eating I realize there are 0 calories in sand not that the ingredient exists but its hard to calculate 0 calories to grams Also its not clear when you are supposed to select the ingredient before or after adding it to the scale and whether you are supposed to remove the first ingredient in order to begin the next ingredient It seems like it should either be cumulative or incremental but its not clear which it is        Pretty but Lacking in in functionality
Just got my scale today and used it to figure out all of my nutritional information on my homeare lasagna Thanks for making such a great app and scale                 Great App
