Get RECIPES THAT WORK : Need a foolproof recipe for dinner tonight? From Pan-Seared Thick Cut Strip Steaks or Crisp Roast Chicken to Grilled Salmon or Pasta with Creamy Tomato Sauce we have you covered. ...
This app is a joke It cannot hold a candle to the magazine The recipes have huge type fonts and you can only see a small portion of the recipe Its an ugly design as well Now I was on the really cooks illustrated website and they gave a REAL apphowever it does cost money to subscribe Not sure of the details But for this particular app I deleted it the next day It is not worth it        Needs 2 more years of development
Just downloaded it today and it seems to be working great Now I can find all my favorite recipes at the grocery store and in my kitchen Great app if you have a membership                 Working great
I have this app on my iPad and it clearly needs more development Not really sophisticated enough for streamlined use Some of the problems the app can only be viewed in portrait mode so if you have a iPad case that stands your iPad up in landscape which is handy for in the kitchen this app wont work that way Another total design flaw is that the recipe is organized in tabs with the ingredients and instructions on different tabs So if youre measuring things out as you go or you want to doublecheck your measures in the recipe you have to keep going between tabs which can be annoying especially if your hands are covered in flour or raw eggs or what have you These are only two of many other flaws that beg for improvement Is this app for cooks Not really Shame on you CI The website and magazine are much more superior layout you would think a home run app would follow Not        Poor functionality Not for serious cooks
I use this app mostly to refer to the Taste Testwhen I go out shopping and cant make a brand decision I consult this app which makes it easy to see what brand the Cooks Illustrated taste panel recommends I looked at the recipes and do hope they allow the user to view recipes on landscape           Taste Test section is awesome
Pros taste tests are good you can select recipes as favorites Cons you cant search within favorites for recipe names or ingredientswell actually no searching whatsoever favorites arent categorized in any fashion protein type appetizer etc its just a list of recipes you have to scroll through to find what youre looking for not sure if the recipes and tests are updated monthly as the magazine is published Maybe it is but it theres no way to know in the app hasnt been updated in a very long time        Youd think Cooks Illustrated would do better
You guys really need to step up your game here and develop an iPad compatible app so you can actually use this in the kitchen while cooking This app is 1st generation iPhone at best I love the recipes but my annual membership fee may start going elsewhere if I cant start using this in the kitchen You can do it Please        Please please please update this thing
I was so excited to begin using this app but it has left me terribly let down Im a member and when I logged into the app with my membership account information I noticed I am unable to view recipes The app is useless to me     Frustrated
Subscribed to the magazine works on iPad and separately the ATK website After successful login this app restricts access to recipes It prompts me to buy a one day pass and has no option to restore purchases     Subscriber without access
I use this app frequently to access my favorites and to create a shopping list for my favorites It could be so much better Ive saved 50 favorites but they cannot be organized into any categories or even listed alphabetically That would be first upgrade Organizing recipes into a menu would be second Shopping list is very basic but does allow easy editing to remove ingredients that you might typically have on hand like salt or water Oh and you have to have Internet access to retrieve your favorites or any other recipes I would love to rate this a 4 or 5 star The recipes are so well tested and failproof           Way overdue for an update
For what you pay I thought youd get the magazine edition Needs work        Good Recipes but no magazine
Its great to have access to the ATK recipes but the app is poorly functioning There is no way to search or organize favorites there is no smart searching and its clunky and slow        Needs help
I can put recipes on my favorite list But when I try to add from recipe to shopping list half the time it doesnt Inconsistent Disappointing        Shopping list doesnt work
A very poor app Yes its free but we expect much more from Cooks Illustrated Id glad pay more above and beyond what I currently pay for the magazine and inline access for a useful highquality app And there needs to be an iPad version        Not remotely up to the high standards of AMERICAs Test Kitchen
Used to love this app In one of the recent updates they removed the related recipes function ie you have a recipe for poached chicken and there should be links to related recipes for the sauces Gone Please bring that back Many recipes are useless without those        Bring back the related recipes
I have resubscribed to Cooks Illustrated but it wont let me see my saved recipes Ive paidwhats up with this Please fix this     Not recognizing my account
I am a paying subscriber and I access online content just fine but cant get anything in the app So frustrated No option to ask for help     Ugh password issues
Love being able to quickly and easily find and email to my cookhusband the recipes he likes while hes on his way to the store to buy the ingredients Hell call or text and say Find me a recipe for scalloped potatoes and send me the ingredient list Happy to comply Also there are so many unreliable recipes on the Internet that one must have a trusted source of information or else risk possible illness aggravation or even just wasted time money and food Or worse                 Longtime Cooks Reader Loves App
Definitely needs work Timer goes off if you move to another app Video freezes Related recipe links dont work Limited recipe selection Come on ATK bring us the muchneeded update     Not the quality I expect from ATK
I tried to start an account todayonly to find someone was using my email address that Ive had for 8 years now I changed the password but still cant login to the app WHATS UP     Someone was using my email address
I can see how this would be a useful app that is if I could use it AT ALL I am a paying basic subscriber However this app doesnt recognize my membership past my login information For example I can view my list of favorite recipes but I cant view the actual recipes from that list I get prompted to upgrade to premium access which is a total crock Further most recipes and reviews prompt the same thing locked unless you upgrade Total BS I can view the basic subscriber content just fine on my computer or on my phone in Safari Wow PBS Youre really grubbing for those extra bucks these days eh Shameful     What a country crock
Got the membership with awesome cookbook for Christmas but this app doesnt work Tried repeatedly but cant access anything after logging in Website login works fine this app needs repair     Mr Kimball test this app
This has to be one of the worst apps I have ever downloaded What is the point of the app if every recipe is tied to the premium membership Id rather pay for the app then download one with no content Very disappointed with this from a magazine I love so much     Zero stars if it was an option
I was also able to log in using my Americas Test Kitchen account but could not access any recipes or other information Pretty useless app     Disappointing
I expect so much more from the people that create such a fine show This app is worthless     Disappointed
Overall feels like a very old generation app Its a pain to use not that the Cooks Illustrated website is much betterThe Feed website has a really good UI oddly that I much preferclearly the cooks illustrated band of websites must all be on different technologies it seemsanyways I digress I dont like how for recipes that items are on different tabs Also does anyone notice that if your phone locks or goes idle and you go back to the app the item you searched for is no longer available What good is making a shopping list if I go to the grocery store and my list is gone You cant do a cross app search meaning I cant just search for a recipe if I previously clicked on the Equipment Revew or other non recipe tab I could go on Huge fan of Cooks Illustrated just not their technology as evidenced by their apps andor website     Poorly Designed Please Update
Unlike many others I can login in just fine The search function for recipes is very difficult to use I tried to search for apple sauce because I wanted to make homemade apple sauce and it have me over 1500 results most simply had apple or sauce in them but not what I was looking for        Works Well
I love the shows but the app is a dud for the following reasons it crashes a lot the videos usually crash on the iPhone even with wifi the search function is faulty the taste test results are inconsistent with the video tests and web results Ive complained about these problems and months ago I got a response that they were fixing the problems Nothing has been done Instead of putting out a new cookbook how about fixing our app and two websites     A waste of
Ive been a CI fan for a long time but have just started using the app on my iPhone a few months ago Its very easy to search for recipes and save favorites and I really love how easy it is to add ingredients to a shopping list thats super clean and easy to use I see some people have complained about the ingredients being on a separate tab from the instructions and some have even complained that serious cooks abhor that Well Im a serious cook and I like many other serious cooks I know like to prep my ingredients before I have pots boiling over and skillets burning because Im trying to chop onions remember if its a teaspoon or a tablespoon of paprika and figure out if I stuck the vinegar in the laundry room or if Im just plain out Good job CI                 Works great great design
Im surprised with some of the negative reviews here This is a great app Yes it looks a bit old and would be even better with an update But it allows me to access all the recipes I would normally get from the Cooks Illustrated website I can save them for reference on my phone PLUS the ability to add a recipe to your shopping list is fantastic You can simply do so twice to double the portions and it automatically doubles everything on your list Im really pleased with the app Yes it could be newer but Ive had no bugs              Very good app could use an update but works well
The app works ok but it would be way better if you could print directly from the app As it is now you have to email the recipe click on the link in the email and then print Silly           Ok but needs update
Although I am logged into my account I can no longer access member recipes that could be accessed last week     No longer works with Cooks Illustrated membership
You gotta have a membership to use this app but I do and its great to have on the iPhone particularly at the grocery store I can look up a recipe or more often I look up taste tests Work on the iPad version please              Wish it were available for iPad
Im a paying member This App lets me login but still doesnt load the recipes Worthless     Disappointing
Wish this app supported horizontal rotation        Needs some improvement
I am a paying subscriber the app shows that Im logged in but every recipe I pull up prompts a message to start a new membership Too bad     Cant use app on iPhone
No cloud syncing between devices tired interfaces Seems they dont care about this at all     Lousy App
I am a paid up Premium user of the ATK suite of products Just recently the save to favorites button has disappeared Whats going on I love this app as it replaces all the magazines I have save over the last 8 years but if I find a recipe I like I want to save it to my favorites           Wheres Save to Favorites
Fans have a lovehate relationship with Cooks Illustrated and for good reason While the magazine showcases great recipes and useful information about cooking its business practices are shockingly exploitive They make you pay for access to absolutely everything this app included and Id be grudgingly okay with that if they actually used the money for development of new features and updates This app has been left to wither and die on the vine for over a year while they still collect 35year for access to it If Lisa McManus was reviewing this shed say it was definitely NOT HOT a real dud do not waste your money     Talk About Leaving a Bad Taste in Your Mouth
Wrote a lengthy review of this app years ago It was pretty bad back then now it is just embarrassing This is emphatically not worthy of Cooks high standards Mr Kimball please update this app     Badly written app badly in need of an overhaul
Same issue as most Can login but once I do I cant view anything        Unhappy
Would a serious cook not gather the ingredients and prep beforehand Everything is working smoothly for me My account was accessed with my password just fine Very functional and easy to use Cooks Illustrated has always been my Go To source and remains my favorite                 Love It
Crashes when loading an issue Complete failure in iOS 8 I expect an update soon so I havent given up hope Until then however its unusable     Not iOS 8 compatible
I enjoyed this app until it required I pay a duplicate yearly membership I think there is a problem with this app        Error in the app
Ive tolerated this iPhone app on my iPad because I love so many of the recipes But now I find that even if I am logged in when I try to go to my favorites I am prompted to start a oneday pass for premium content The prompt does ask if I am already a member and if so I should log in but the button to log in is fogged out Lousy app Lousy     Flakey and I am not talking about pie crust
I used to use this app frequently and bought the upgrade membership Now I suddenly cant view Premium recipes Whats more confusing is that Im logged in but when I click on a recipe it asks me if I want a one day pass The login button isnt even live I even tried signing up for a one day pass but then the app just goes blank Ready for an update     Not sure what happened
I have had no issues and like a lot of the features included in the app It is nice to have access to the recipes from my phone                 Great
I am a paid member and subscriber to all of ATKCooks CountryCooks Illustrated products and expected to be able to access all their recipes via this app but no such luck And when I search this app for a very specific recipe name I get hundreds of search results that are totally unrelated to my search I just deleted this very frustrating app A simple Google search is much better     Search results are useless
Does not work with iOS 8 Saw the earlier post but anyone hear of an update to this app Uninstalled and reinstalled and lost all my favorites in the process but still holding out that they will update        iOS 8
Please please PLEASE update this app        Please
Useful app for when at the grocery store wish they would update it for the iPad tho I would only recommend it for paying members for best usage which I am I also wish it was like the website with the side links relating to the particular recipethat would be helpful But overall good for on the go use              Best for paying members
