Co:Writer is a writing tool that aides with phonetic/inventive spelling, grammar, and topic-related vocabulary. Co:Writer has been a trusted friend to writers and communicators for decades (tracing its roots back to the days of the ...
Lots of the things we love about CoWriter for the computerbest ever word prediction The ability to have and make your own topic dictionary is fantastic And love the different size dictionaries Some improvements to consider 1 The ability to listen to words choices before selecting best done by phrase rather than one word too 2 Ability to use copypaste from clipboard really importantseems funky and unreliable 3 Ability to have black background and yellow text the best for high contrast a must other color choices would be helpful 4 If possible bringing up only grammatically correct words would be phenomenal Maybe I am shooting for the moon here though           Lots to like needs some changes
I usually love this app but it recently stopped syncing to my wireless keyboard and the speak option isnt working Frustrating     no sync
Outstanding this could be the missing link for writing supports for student who struggle with spelling topic dictionaries are created on the fly and work great TTS voicing is very good BUY IT                 A great resource
As a speechlanguage pathologist I use a fair amount of of text prediction writing apps and computer programs but this is one that my students really seem to love and choose when given options I use it regularly with almost all my high school students I think its simplicity is a large part of the appeal My favorite thing about it is that it is incredibly easyintuitive to save something youve written before starting something new You just hit a plus at the top of the page it automatically saves what youve written and gives you a new page With other apps and programs my students frequently delete what they just finished writing because they want to write something new                 Love this app
As an occupational therapist I have used cowriter for many years I recommended that the school district that I work for purchase the previous program for many of the computers I would not make this recommendation for this new app It is far too costly Many of the features provided on the computer such as set up wizard and options for vertical word predictions word banks and numbered choices are not available Also I purchased on my phone but it will not synch to my iPad           Too expensive
I am an occupational therapist and I really like to use CoWriter with the students I serve This is a great app for kids that would be more successful using an iPad vs a computer However there are some updates I would really love to see in order to make this app even better The word prediction words are pretty small and ability to make those words larger just as you can make the regular text larger would be helpful It would also be nice to be able to have different contrasting colors besides blackwhite Great app a lot of topic lists and the same great flexible spelling make this app beneficial but if only the word prediction words could be enlarged              App review from an OT
CoWriter works very well The voice is awesome and the options to export are helpful The biggest drawback is that it doesnt work with Pages or QuickOffice like it would with Word on a laptop The interface lacks ability to import documents for instance premade tests and images Also there are no formatting options bullets lists headings etc So like I said its a good start but needs work           Good but needs work
I am an Occupational Therapist working in an elementary charter school I work with a 3rd grader who can not write due to extremely poor spelling He has an IQ of 136 His writing appears to be random letters He has worked with CoWriter twice before in OT Today he used CoWriter to independently type an original 7 sentence paragraph making only 1 error It brought tears to my eyes I have never seen such a transformation Our principal is ordering CoWriter on all 4 of our special education iPads More than worth the 1999                 Wow
In typical Don Johnston style this CoWriter app is GREAT It is very simple and intuitive to use Visually the predicted words are wellsized and centered across the screen with the priority predicted word in bold and in the center This placement makes it easy to access both visually and physically It predicts misspelled words well for me Once the writing is completed there are a variety of saving and sharing options again presented very intuitively Well done                 Excellent word prediction app
This is an absolutely fantastic app I was using a similar app for quite a while and have found this app more useful I do find that the prediction algorithm gets a little confused sometimes and doesnt reset itself until I start a new sentence I dont know if maybe it is because of the combination of topics I have selected or if it is a bug in the app Still I am quite happy using it I would like to see an appspecific volume control so I can have my overall iPad volume high but have the speech in the app much lower Would that be possible in an upcoming version              Fantastic app
My daughter is dyslexic This app is wonderful for her writing I love that she can see and hear the suggested predictive text My only question is Can we print without the cowriter header Shes only 8 so printing directly from the app is a great feature Only other comment is that the voice could be improved I hope Apple incorporates this functionality into their mail pages etc applications some day soon Its great to be able to output to email but would be wonderful to have right within the mail app itself Also we tested this against other apps and it was the clear winner as far as recognizing phonetic spelling A nice additional feature would be definitions and help with confusable words too to My only hesitation with suggesting additional functionality is that I really appreciate the very simple interface which has proven ideal for an 8 year old Thank you                 Wonderful
