I think an iPhone app for the Cloverleaf Global Monitor is a great idea and something that users of Cloverleaf and Global Monitor have been wanting for some time However as an iOS developer Im a little upset to see that so little care went into designing this application Im willing to bet that the Lawson developers did not even glance at Apples Human Interface Design Guidelines which pretty much outline all the dos and donts of user interface design on iOS 1 There is a mix of retina graphics and nonretina graphics So on an iPhone 4 some of the graphics look good and others just look awful You can see this clearly in the screenshots above 2 Navigation through the application appears to be handled with a UINavigationController However Lawson decided to use a custom Back button which really makes no sense at all Why not use the default Back button that all iOS apps use Why replace the button with a low res graphic that looks stupid 3 The rows in the tableviews require doubletapping to dig down into the next level of navigation Why If I tap once the row is highlighted but that does absolutely no good at all since there is nothing to do with a row once selected other than to double tap it to slide into the next level of the UINavigationController which is what I expected when I single tapped on the row in the first place 4 The search bar in the View List does not resize appropriately when the device is turned into landscape mode 5 When adding a configuration the field where I type the server name is not configured properly The field is configured to try to autocorrect mistyped words which is a huge pain for pretty much anybody In the IT world not many people name their servers after words they know to be in the iOS dictionary so you have to constantly stop the OS from trying to autocorrect as you type The User Name field is also the same You shouldnt have autocorrect enabled on these fields 6 When adding a configuration there is a field for Https Port First of all it should say HTTPS Port since there is no such thing as Https Secondly I shouldnt even have to fuddle with this port since the port number changes with each release of the global monitor Why not give me an option to choose the version of the GM that Im connecting to rather than make me try to figure out what obscure port number to use Also when I try to edit this field I should be given the number pad for number entry not the full keyboard Last I checked port numbers dont require punctuation or letters 7 You can add more than 1 Global Monitor configuration which is really nice but stupidly you can only designate 1 as the monitor you want to login to If I want to login to one of my other Global Monitors I have to switch back to the Settings tab then designate the monitor I want as the primary monitor then I have to switch back to the Login screen and finally tap Login Why cant there just be a list of all my monitors and why cant I just tap on whichever one I want to login to In fact this whole process of defining configurations and then connecting to one of them needs to be entirely reworked Eliminate the tab view at the bottom Instead make a single screen that presents all of my global monitor configurations By tapping on a configuration I should automatically connect By tapping on the blue chevron icon next to a particular configuration I should be presented with a screen that allows me to edit the configuration That or supply an Edit button and let me addremove configurations that way 8 Speaking of addingremoving configurations there is no way to remove a configuration once one is added Really guys 9 When adding a configuration the section headings are using a nonstandard font so it looks goofy I frankly dont understand The default font is the correct font to use and you dont have to do anything to take advantage of it So the developers purposefully chose a nonstandard font     Needs a lot of work
