I have used the old Charts Tides East Coast which I prefer to the updated version I purchase the Canadian version in preparation for a trip to the Saint John River Unfortunately the Canadian charts are poorly detailed not even including most place names The lower Saint John River chart is the only one included Anything north of the lower Kingston peninsula is missing The app does not include temporary way points and gives speeds only to the nearest full knot Canadian charts a disappointment
Bought this app because I was cruising the NY State Canals and Lake Champlain This app has no charts for these waters Otherwise it is at least four stars Missing Charts
I researched and assumed the Active Captain data could be viewed even in the areas where there are no charts just like the Active Captain website I wanted offline ability to see Active Captain data in parts of Canada when we wont have data for the laptop The data is displayed in the nonchart area but you dont know where the marinas anchorages etc are since they show up looking like the middle of no where I cant comment on the ability to navigate with the app since thats not why I bought it So its 25 wasted to find out the Active Captain info isnt useful to me There were no reviews so I shouldnt have purchased Apple wont refund Not what I thought
