Ive tried just about every writing app in the App Store and am delighted with Chapters The interface is elegant simple and straightforward Separate notebooks let me keep stories novels and journals organized Chapters has just the right balance between plain text only and bellsandwhistles overload Chapters may not fit your style of writing but you owe it to yourself to give it a chance I for one couldnt be more pleased                 Couldnt be happier

While I like the functionality of the date stamping and how items are organized by date which is good because Im using it as a medical log book for myself so that I have it in chronological order Im less impressed with the adding photos part It appears to require photos to be perfect square IPhones and iPads dont take square photos so it auto cuts off the extra top bottom depending on orientation with no ability to change it Also the rotation of a photo seems clunky in that if you want to resize a photo it reloads it from its original orientation and so you have to rerotate which is hard because you typically are accidentally rescaling the photo due to the similarity of the hand movement           Ok could improve

This is great I use this as my journal I would love to have an option to be able to add video clips also              Video

I spent so much time journaling in this app for each of my sons milestones funny stories etc I just went into Chapters on my iPad to add something and nothing was there It was as if I had just installed the app My notebooks for each boy were completely gone Sadly this app is the only thing I used to record these memories Guess Ill go back to good old paper     Dont waste your time or memoriesEverything vanished

After receiving an iPad for Xmas in 2010 I have been on the hunt for a good JournalDiaryLog type app I have downloaded at least 10 apps and was still looking for something that suited my needs I didnt want a bunch of different apps for every note and document I wanted to save but at the same time be able to edit Dont want a lot of bells and whisltes Just something to keep my daily Journal entries and a vacation log a travel itinerary or any other logs and data that I needed to access now and then Im a neat freak and like to keep track of a lot of things I did download the developers app Chronicles for my daily journalng and found it to be easy and exactly what I needed Easy to export by email and backup in iTunes Chapters is a great app for either Personal or Business because it can be edited It also has an extended keyboard included with back and forward arrows tab buttons and a time stampsomething the iPad keyboard needs I downloaded Chapters just yesterday and am THRILLED with this app and what it can do especially for ME Its everything I wanted in one app You can make as many notebooks as you like Each one can be simple with just text or you can add photos I already have made 4 notebooks Daily Journal Notebook A Vacation Notebook for my upcoming trip My Travel Itineraries Notebook and a Notebook of StatesCountries I have visited Very easy to work with and there are options for a few different Page Colors Notebook binding colors and fonts PERFECT Nothng fancy just basic and to the point for easy record keeping You can keep any sort of notes or schedules here because it is editable Now I have my whole life documented and planned out in one app Im trying to think of more documents to store and edit here Thank you Steven for a great app It is exactly what I was looking for If I see anything that I would like tweaked I will let you know                 The Best I Mean it

This app is the best app My school started to use the I Pad for school and we had to use our I Pads I looked around the App Store and saw this had a good review so I tried it This app if wonderful it doesnt lag at all and plus its under five dollars not bad I absolutely would by this app Its worth the money                 Best App Ever

I use this app almost every day to write down the memorable things that happen in my life It is great that you can back up your files in dropbox However the backups are manual so i need to manualy back them up every time I make a change Could you please work on a way to automaticly update the backup files through iCloud or dropbox Thanks                 Wonderful Journaling app But could use iCloud support

Ive been using this app for a few days and it does just what I want Its a very simple app with few bells and whistles so its quite easy to learn The author quickly responded to a question I had so Im happy with the support for the app as well                 Simple but Effective

I love the design of this writing tool The layout is so user friendly Its so easy to wake up in the morning open the appropriate journal and start writing Its easy to see prior entries and password protect your journals Plus customer service is helpful and quick to respond I highly recommend this app                 Love this App

This app is an Excellent note or journal app It does everything that is simply necessary by simply I mean it is not loaded with unnecessary fancy rarely used cutesy features that just complicate and frustrate usage                 Excellent

I am very pleased with this app I had been looking for a journaling app and reviewed several I contacted Steven with some initial questions and was delighted with his speedy response I now have four different journals a personal journal a work journal a kitchen lab notebook to keep track of what recipes worked and what didnt and a knitting journal I like the directions Steven is moving with this product and intend to try his other apps as well Steven has computer science experience from Georgia Tech Its important to me to know a bit about the app writer and his views Great work Steven Thank you and keep it up                 Just what I needed

I have a few notetaking apps but this is the one I use first It looks good is uncluttered and intuitive and sorts well Highly recommended                 Elegant stable simple

While Ive tried a number of different notebooks and journals this is the one that I find to be the most flexible and easy to use The layout is elegant simple and readable simply the best                 Favorite Notebook

Only things missing search across notebooks and the abiltiy to title each entry in a notebook Other than that wonder app defintity worth it Thanks              Great app but

The app is pretty but though it will link with Dropbox and see the folders in it it will not see the files inside the folders Defeats the purpose if I cant see my documents let alone edit them           Dysfunctional

I love the app Its really annoying when youre need deep in typing some notes and the keyboard shortcuts stop working Contacted the developer and he blamed it on the OS even though the problem doesnt occur in other apps The insert picture feature is worthless        2 Features Dont Work

This app works great for simple text work Forget it if you are interested in adding images to your documents Max Journal is far superior in handling images Neither is perfect Id take features from both to make a better writing app For writing though youll love this one for its time stamping and how it lists prior entries shortcut buttons word count           Great for some Not for all

This is a great app I have found it very helpful for organizing a diverse collection of notes I too would like formatting options font sizes bold italics etc and would also like to have the application sync to my iPhone like notes                 MS

I Ike to write on a variety of topics have been looking for something to replace my leather journals which end up poorly arranged I do not write in a linear fashion thus I jump from toptic to topic and hen rice back This app fits my style while helps me keep organized The cut paste features allow me to bringing material from other sources OneNote is a good tool but not available on the ipad I also tried Evernote but it seems more targeted for short notes                 Perfect for people who like to write

Chapters app is great for diary or journal entries where a time stamp is needed There is an extended keyboard that has 8 extra buttons not common to iPad keyboard One extra key is a time stamp button if you want to manually insert a time stamp Also there is a handy option that if its been over an hour since you last entered information Chapters will automatically enter a timestamp at beginning of a new line I recently got sick with Pneumonia and had to take a bunch of Meds and breathing nebulizer treatments every 4 hours I also logged my fever temperature thermometer readings Chapters app was invaluable to keep a log of time I took a med treatment used a thermometer Chapters help keeping me from under or over dosing Chapters can import images too Chapters app is so important to me that I placed it in my iPad Dock Developer was quickly responsive with emails to guide me to choose this app Ive search long time for an app with Time Stamping feature and could not find any other except Chapters and Chronicle For iPad also from same app developer Steven Romej                 Time Stamping Feature

I have purchased many separate apps for for writing note taking managing multiple projects and etc Some great others not so much But when speaking specifically about writing my wishlist seemed simplea simple interface dont want to feel distracted by the appthe closest thing possible to a notebook where I can manage multiple writing projects books blogs a daily business log ideas notes development I have bought many very fancy highly rated apps that for some reason in one way or the other would miss the mark I am a very visual person The main fault to me would be in how the projects would be grouped Most dont have an at a glance feeling of separation Most it would be done with tagging and searching and such Besides that they would feel soulless or too modern I just want to write Only thing worst was the inability to have the writing separated at all In comes Chapter Literally like an environment of virtual notebooks You click a notebook it opens up And the app has all the features youd want from Word Pages or any good word processing software Even greater you can choose to lock individual books for whatever reason you may need It does a hell of a lot more but I think a lot of ppl are like me and have been looking for these same features Dont know how I stumbled on to this app but Im glad I did Just actually purchased werdsmith Beautifully designed app but when it came time to group a project I came right back to Chapter Unless they somehow tinker and ruin it I wont be looking around anymore This is my Goto writing app from here on end Thanks to the developers                 If more people knewmore would adore

Looks like Ill be looking for a replacement I wanted this to be the app for my fiction and poetry           updated but not worth the wait

I highly recommend this app Works as described and has great features The ability to have multiple note books makes it very useful as an app that can be used for both personal and professional situations App seems to be well written has not crashed once is very responsive and never lags I had a minor question and the developer responded timely with a perfect answer and included a screen shot for support                 Excellent App

This is a good solid journal app that has just enough tweakability to give a distinctive look to the different journals but not enough to be a sinkhole If this app had TextExpander support it would be 5 stars easily I really do hope to see that feature in s future release Please              Good app for journaling

I need pictures with journal Most pictures were displayed crooked and I was careful to hold phone correctly Please refund my money        Just Awful

And write directly where the text appears instead of a popup box that looks like writing mail           Wish you could change the font

I have used this App for at least 6 months and it is very good for organizing ideas for projects articles school papers and books I do a lot of writing and it is easy to look for projects and keep all related ideas together I have had no problems at all with this app A wonderful creation                 Excellent

I would have given this 5 stars had i not heard that other people were having problems with this app plus it would be better if there was italics bold and underline I sorta dislike the idea that everything has to be the same size Why cant we make different words different sizes Other than the font size and the bold etc this app was really good please add more features to it              add more features

I love this app Great for taking notes for work Great for writing my travel journals Great for jotting down anything and everything I like that I can keep separate notebooks I love the simplicity of it Would be great and even better if it was iPhone compatible for those those times when I have some thoughts but dont have my iPad Regardless this is a really great app                 Awesome App

I was the kid who started journaling at 10 and at 30 still had them all Im 44 now and its been a long and windy road through spiral notebooks and fancy leather too nice to write in to trying to journal on my lap top iphone eh too small to journal on to newly purchased iPad The journey is half the fun so I scrutinized all the notebook journalish apps very carefully This is the One Multiple journals one great app I have three going already And I love being able to add pics And its easy to use And I love the calendar so I can review a months musings almost at a glance And its not all cutesy wootsie But I do love the passcode option Like the adolescent diary with a key PrivacyI love it                 This is the One

Love having multiple notebooks and the ability to password protect them Password protection works great linking to Drop Box was a breeze for online backups Only BUG Ive noticed so far is using the background color picker App crashes when choosing certain colors A wish list of wants more notebook sheet themes more notebook cover themes having each notebook cover a different theme instead of all the same more font choices for entries background images for entries better rotating photos in entries cant seem to get mine to rotate half the time text wrap around photos photos that wont overlap the edge of the sheet is this a bug Great app           Nice

A recent update added a new option enabled by default which was apparently supposed to prevent empty entries from being saved What actually happened was it immediately deleted ANY new entry empty or not after I saved it It was quite frustrating to see the app casually and silently discard my work Disabling this new option once again allowed me to use the app but I am now looking for an alternative           Used this app daily but no longer trust it

Not what I thought it could do and once again I have spent money on something that was not what I wanted        1132

After updating this app am unable to unlock a file The lock tab doesnt show in the updated version Please fix this problem     Locked will not open

I really like the clean design I reviewed several journal apps and this one had the best balance of good features and simple design                 Clean Simple

Ive enjoyed using this app for a while now Its one of the few writing apps that will let you password protect entries However Ive noticed that lately when I lock my iPad while the app is in use upon unlocking the iPad the entry I was viewing is still open If possible the app should lock the entry in this situation Otherwise Ive had no problems with Chapters It does what I need and does it fairly well Keep up the good work              Not prompting for password upon unlocking iPad

I spent hours creating collages of photos and text Export a PDF and see all your work and formatting lost Heartbreaking     Destroys your work

This app definitely beats out many of the paid apps Its great I use it to take notes in all of my classes and I love the stream lined interface and its great because its not bogged down with all of the features that I seldom use Its simple does an amazing job and I love it                 Simply a great app

Just purchased yesterday and so does what I expected A couple of mods would make it perfect The ability to insert a photo on the journal cover we be real nice also insert photos in the journal with word wrap like some of the other journal programs Another small tweak I would like to be able to have a written description of the journal on the journal cover Currently the cover limits the amount of text it will accept Keep up the good work           Great app

Ive been using all forms of writing apps for quite some time now and Chapters is the first one that allows me to use the iPad like I have used paper notebooks in the past I create a notebook for each subject write in them and thats that Its simple in design its clean and has never crashed while I was using it Other apps have always left me wanting something this one has just enough features like auto date password protection and some soft keys that makes it just right How many notebook apps have you worked with that are nearly impossible to figure out Not this one I finally feel like Im carrying around my paper notebooks and of course Im not I contacted the developer and asked about a possible feature addition and he got back to me right away Honest App honest developer and worth the price                 Truly a sweet app

This is a great journalnote taking app Please add the ability to change the font color of a word or sentence Also if you could add bold underline highlight etc functions that would be awesome I would also like to be able to change the background or border of a pagenotebook to a certain pattern Different bullet point options would be neat too Thanks for an amazing app              Great
