Tired of your mobile carrier not living up to its claims as you deal with spotty data service and dropped calls? RootMetrics uses millions of real-world results from mobile users like you to deliver the one ...
The App does what it says It maps speed tests with about a 4 5 day delay                 App Mapping Issues Resolved for iOS Devices 35USC101
Needs update for iphone X     Needs update for iphone X jose_beast
Doesn t accurately represent signal strength and here s why They have a strong bias towards measuring signal outdoors when majority of us spend much of our time indoors This makes carrier with high frequency band such as T Mobile appear to have unrealistically good coverage High frequency signals can t penetrate walls So take the top restaurants in a city like Seattle The coverage map will show excellent coverage when in reality you get no data Unless you re a truck or bus driver and you re always on the road you re not going to get great coverage from a carrier like T Mobile Until this app focuses on indoor coverage where most people will spend their time it s pretty useless Update Switched to Sprint This coverage map is incorrect more than 50 of the time with my iPhone X I don t get service where this app tells me I should with the latest phone Have to wonder if they re independent unbiased and trustworthy as they once were Wonder if money corrupted their mission         Flawed Metric Eijh
I was using this app to figure out which service I wanted to use I was surprised at how much data the app uses Also it doesn t seem to be a way to screen out older data With new and dead towers it would be nice to see if the data is 12 months old versus 5 years old This has great potential but after using 3GB in 3 days I m done contributing                 Good information but Data Hog John 542
it may be slightly tricky to navigate the program and understand how to use it fully but once you do this information that we can see and give back is extremely valuable and beneficial to all for the future I would say                     100 solid need more apps like these auracle2g
I have had poor experience with this app Can t change networks for speed test Email to support goes unanswered     Terrible Need a nick
Proof of contribution would be nice Hexes never update with new data points Open Signal shows much more crowd sourced info in areas I have tested this app Of course I m on T Mobile and this app is paid for by Verizon So there s that         No Map Updates IDK if my data is contributing Snn5
Poor ui OPEN SIGNAL IS WAYYY BETTER I know as a verizon customer that ROOT METRICS SCORES VERIZON GOOD BUT UR APP IS A EYE SORE     Ugly app LaBelle053019
This new UI is much more difficult to use in comparison with the old UI Would rather use older versions as it was simpler and faster than the current version     Old Design Was Better Jon Elmer
The app gives enough information to get a general idea of coverage in a general area It seems like there is a lot of old data for example I look at a hexagon it has 45mb down speed at LTE for ATT I look at the next or nearby hexagon s they show 2g 3g for ATT at 3mb obviously this data is old and confusing there is no way to see when a data point was taken Either you need to be able to select data from the last year or older data needs to be discarded Mostly I look in neighborhoods or off major highways where limited data was collected So a really slow data right next to super fast is confusing Also it is unclear how the app collects db readings to me and I couldn t find an answer Do you have to have the app running and make a call I tried letting the app run while driving but no db data has ever shown up on those routes             Basically a good app room for improvement Flyerguy1
The coverage maps are pretty much meaningless The app is telling me I have zero coverage in my area while I am typing this 3 bars AT T Deleting this useless app     Worthless app coverage maps inaccurate TimDuke985
Does not reflect tests run on its map Not worth the time     Useless app Does not reflect tests run SaSuAd
I ve had this app for a while but it no longer records data points about 2 weeks ago What happened     Doesn t record speed data points after a while is the network down techguy9
Completely worthless None of my best tech found reports upload after tests even though the speeds say what network they were taken on Don t waste your time trying to contribute     Background needs more intelligence B_RyBacon
I m giving it a one star rating because the current version 3 0 2 is not working for me on my iPhone 7 Plus iOS 10 2 as soon as you open the app it crashes and closes and I close the app and try again when I try to restart my phone and it does the same thing only opens for one second and crashes and closes     3 0 2 Crashes Do Not Download Nateegan
This app gives lots of data from charts graphs but I saw nothing to help interpret this data into anything meaningful Disappointed     Unclear info natoli009
I m sad that I updated this app the new version might be more aesthetically pleasing but I feel the old one was more functional I ll probably delete this app unless I can find a way to restore the old version from a backup on my iMac Sadly I think the developer messed this app up and needs to revert it back to the old style to win me back as a user     I miss the old app Maxakabill
App is really not worth the time Tells me there is not att or verizon service here and I have signal on both Do not know how to send a report from my location I gave up     Not worth the time Bo bland
App needs some inprovments to help provide better coverage details such as improve the coverage map legend to indicate the connection speed range for each color code to help us see how good of a connection we got Also can you add at least 1 2 other colors for the top preforming connections that are around 75mbps or better on 4g lte     Inprovments needed Mikey T Ward
Can t save data test Can t get a clear reading on call receive transmit strength Poor resolution on coverage maps     Limited app Mpaul1211953
It s pretty limited when it comes to the carriers since Cricket isn t on the list yet MetroPCS is     Limited Mexico620
When zoomed out the large signal hexagon which should show the EXPECTED or AVERAGE reception over the represented area shows the BEST reception So when zoomed out to view the entire US ATT looks pretty green This does NOT reflect actual signal quality however and makes the graphic virtually meaningless For example where I live in rural Maine there may be 100 poor reception data points in an area with only 1 good point However when zoomed out the map chooses the 1 good point over the 99 bad ones and represents that area as green ie good reception Come on people This is simply shoody data presentation at best dishonest at worst     Grossly misleading data presentation Dracunculus
Test results never seem to show up I verify each time they will test wait a few days and nothing is ever on the map             Test Results boothfirefighter365
Wow                 Let
Im new to this app it seems like a great idea but does not work with iOS 9 Crashes after 1520 seconds every time I would love for this to work Hopefully will be fixed soon     iOS 9
Wow not only is privacy gone you cant change the map to show average signal Only showing the max is basically cheating and makes areas with crappy coverage look great Case in point the mall near me is a total dead zone for all carriers and now shows green for all I think the carriers were mad that we all could see how bad they are backed up a dump truck of cash and asked the devs to change the maps to make them look better No thanks uninstall     Selling out to the carriers
Does not allow users to submit call performance test on test network run Just data performance test and best technology test only please update and fix app never had this problem before     Version 244 cant submit call performance test
Great way to figure out what your network strength will be Find out if 4g will behave like you expect with decent speeds or if 3G is the best youll get                 Useful fun and informative
Ive been using this app through Sprints network overhaul to track my speeds and provide data to sprint about the quality of service that I was getting One thing to keep in mind is that this apps data is dependent on actual real users using the app to measure signal strength Its a double bladed sword though its great to have real data but if no one has used the app in your area the maps are empty But then its your time to shine and make that map colorful Awesome app Thanks root metrics                 Awesome app to compare wireless signals
Great tool consistently providing quality accurate reports of call and data performance                 Excellent as always
App has taken turn for the worse and if you read through their new updated privacy policy its basically anything but private Used to refer this app to friends over Ooklas but now its ridiculous This app used to not bombard you with ads now its as bad as Speed Test Uninstalling     Shocked by new policy
The app immediately crashes on iOS 9 when you try to run a test     Broken on iOS 9
Update Read privacy Im not anonymous anymore Uninstall     privacy
I used to like the app however when zoomed out the signal hexagon which should show the EXPECTED reception over the represented area seems to show the BEST reception The makes the graphic virtually meaningless For example where I live in rural Maine there may be 100 data points in an area 99 of which indicate poor reception with 1 good point However when zoomed out the map chooses the 1 good point over the 99 bad ones and represents that area as green ie good reception Come on people You had a good app but this is simply shoody data presentation at best     Terrible data presentation
If you bundle your services from a carrier and need to move this will tell you if you should do an easy transfer or go haggle a deal with another provider                 Essential if you are moving and setting up service elsewhere
After upgrade to IOS9 App crashes when trying speed test              App crashing after upgrade to IOS9
As of now data tests still dont seem to update the map Dont waste your phone memory on this one     Pointless
I used to use this app constantly Now there is no way to turn off data usage and simply test call performance Apparently its not enough for Rootmetrics to have people test for them for free Now they expect us to pay data rates for them too Theyve lost a user until they get this fixed     Formerly great app
RootMetrics CoverageMap app provides extremely useful data so I can compare different wireless carriers eg Verizon ATT and see what speed people are getting at locations I frequent They also provide call quality statistics as well if LTE is available at those areas                 Great resource to compare wireless carriers in my area
Upgraded from 240 to 242 and the new version does not have an option to disable data speed testing if one only wants to test only the signal     Charged Data Usage
Doesnt accurately represent signal strength and heres why They have a strong bias towards measuring signal outdoors when majority of us spend much of our time indoors This makes carrier with high frequency band such as TMobile appear to have unrealistically good coverage High frequency signals cant penetrate walls So take the top restaurants in a city like Seattle The coverage map will show excellent coverage when in reality you get no data Unless youre a truck or bus driver and youre always on the road youre not going to get great coverage from a carrier like TMobile Until this app focuses on indoor coverage where most people will spend their time its pretty useless        Flawed Metric
Perfect to help make decisions on cell providers                 Great tool
Me my friends and my family all use this in our neighborhood Weve used it for at least 8 months Yet our area still shows the same coverage map for the area that it had 6 months ago in both areas we live and have been reporting If it never updates whats the point Using outdated information        Never updates the map
This app has been broken since iOS 83 came out around 4 months ago It wont test cell signal Root Metrics has not fixed it and their last info about it came in May They blame Apple which makes no sense because OpenSignal and Sensorly both work fine Since you cant actually test cell signal this app is effectively useless     Broken for months
RootMetrics and their coverage map are perfect                 Great
I really like the speed test function of this app It lets you choose test duration and will repeat the test to give you an average I dont like that they use a single maximum speed test for the map dots They should use the average of all the tests in a single dot area That would be give you a more accurate view of network data performance A one time high speed moment shouldnt be the map dot           Awesome speed test app Should use carrier average speed for map
This 244 version is unable to collect data from devices since iOS 83 including up to 841 Fix promised quickly by the dev but its been over three months now and I still cant contribute to the maps Will give five stars once updated     Months to update and fix
Seems some ppl have a gripe with this app others not Im one of the ones who finds the info collected in my area many miles away very accurate therefore I do like the app                 Nice
I dont seem to be getting the information of the calling performance anymore Basically its useless           No call data
I hate it when companies try to obscure changes to their privacy policy This update mentions that the privacy policy has been updated but it does not tell you what has changed It does not tell you how to restrict the information the App collects The Privacy Policy itself is extremely vague One star for being sneaky and sleazy     A Step Back
The new privacy policy says you are no longer anonymous to us and we may share that information In other words here comes the spam from RootMetrics and their partners Additionally the new testing procedure requires you to test data which chews up your data plan if you dont have unlimited data Run a test three or four times on a lowend data plan and youve consumed your data for the month        No Privacy and You Better Have Unlimited Data
Ive really been enjoying traveling around my city to fill in the blank spaces on the map This must have been what Waze was like in the early days                 Serious Fun
Its great it even shows the smallest carriers for example I have iWireless TMobile MVNO But when you switch through carriers a bit more than 3 times it crashes but overall is very good              Great has all the carriers but some small things
Even in our rural area someone had used this app before on the Sprint Network Give the app a try and help others figure out what network is best in your area                 Appreciate iPhone 6 support
This is a fantastic app that everyone should use before making a decision on a major cellular provider theres nothing as good as seeing real world test results I love that I can directly contribute to the CoverageMap by running my own tests Im addicted to testing all the slow and untested areas around myself Ive gamified the app into a way to explore the cities around myself and see areas I wouldnt otherwise have visited Id love it if Root Metrics allowed each app the option to start out with an untested map that way each person could explore every part of their surroundings and work towards that goal like a game                 Amazingly Addictive App
I like the fact that youre collecting data from people actually using the devices My only grip is that when I dont get any reception then there is no way to save the test showing this fact so it can be uploaded later Why is this important Because otherwise the map continues to show that it has no data for that area versus showing there is no reception           No Reception No Ability to Transmit to App
Once a test starts it will not allow the network to switch back to the most stable and fastest connection So if you find yourself tracking a long drive and hit a slower network you have to manually stop and wait for the radio to switch back           Fairly accurate
This app no longer displays the average data speeds in a given area but the fastest speed Who is the app for the marketing department of the carriers This data is not very usefulaverage data speeds is what is needed Really stupid     Crappy
This app is very helpfull and accurate A great way to find your networks quick spots Download it and give it a spin Small footprint and easy on the eyes Hey maybe I should do avertising for them No its just a very good app that does what it says it does Bob                 DagNabbitRabbit Sprint iphone 6
just a follow up This application was useful once upon a time But for some reason the developers decided to report the best possible signal everywhere you go That biased reporting alone makes this app completely useless To make this worse you can no longer test only the voice signal without testing and using your data to contribute to the map Im not using my limited data just because they dont want to separate the two functions anymore Further the results are dishonest Originally this app was useful Then they decided to only report the best results per measured area This is intellectually dishonest and condemned the app to the digital landfill Folks using this app are interested in results which describe encountered network performance conditions not the best performance ever recorded results Another American innovation ruined by greed and cronyism     The last update was a downgrade
Great app to view cell phone signal strength and data speeds from other carriers If sample data isnt available or accurate for your wireless carrier just make sure you have a gps lock and report network stats with your phone Results usually show up within an hour and are averaged in with everyone elses reports to create a more accurate map                 See how other carriers stack up
Great app if you know how to use it correctly                 Great app if you know how to use it
Running this app for an hour uses upwards of 1 GB of data on LTE If you want more results readd the ability to not test data Signal strength is just as important but most people arent going to be able to contribute very much if its eating their monthly data plan so quickly              Please readd call only
This is a great app to get real data about the networks we use A lot of times the maps that the carriers put out are not as accurate as they should be is that a crime                 A Win for Truth
Update took away the option to turn data testing off Most of us dont have unlimited data Will not use app anymore     Cant use app now
I actually thought this app was pretty cool I dont get cell service anywhere in my area or anything other than satellite internet and thought the app would b pointless but it tested my wifi DL and UL speed Might b a good app if u have service to use it with              Cool Lil App I Guess
After they removed the ability to test call only I havent tested a single cell I used to map new cells all day It was fun Im giving up and deleting this app now They sold out Im sure another programmer will fill the void left by what used to be a good app If your geeky enough to test cells but dont have unlimited data find another app     Awful
Works great Just needs to show all the speeds in one area highs and lows                 Data
I was happy to contribute information to this app under the condition that it was anonymous but with their new privacy policy theyre collecting a lot more identifying information No thanks        Privacy is gone
I like it It confirms what my wife and I had noticed driving through our area Living out in the country means not so great cell service I thought it was TMobiles bad coverage but it turns out that they are actually one of the best for where we live No more griping                 Pretty good little tool
This app seems to be much more accurate than the results I was getting from the Open Signal app                 Excellent
The most recent release does not accurately record call quality Particularly for networks like Sprint which uses an eCSFB handover to bridge its LTE data bands and its calling network CDMA 1x The app inaccurately records the LTE signal strength which has a far less reach in terms of coverage regardless of band class and carrier and labels it as call quality on the hexes The nice thing about the old version was that you were able to map just the call quality by shutting off LTE on your device this also applies to VZW TMo and ATT It also had minimal impact on the data plan Sprints call quality map is inaccurate on root metrics because of this issue It reaches greater distances and penetrates walls a lot better CDMA 800 than this app reports Please bring back the call quality measurement function           Mixed Bag
The entire area I live in has horrible ATT coverage This map shows green bs Coverage is so bad I got ATT to give me a micro cell A few blocks away I cant even make a call because there is no service Again this nap shows green There is no basis in reality to this app     My ATT coverage stinks this shows its good
