App has not been updated to support iPhone 5 after its been out for over a year Dont buy this app its dead     Dead

Im a pro carpenter have been for many years I have the CMIV and the CM Pro This is all that and more for twenty dollars You dont get upgrades on those other calculators and if you lose its gone 80 This is great that it follows the user and not the hardware I used this app on the job for the first time yesterday cutting in a mixed pitch roof what a joy I carry my phone in a otterbox case anyways what a great way to use it I love my phone and I love this app                 How great is this

I have found this to be very useful Just finished using it to take off a sitework project Would like to have comma separators for the entries and results to help eliminate possible errors                 Great App

I bought this app hoping it could replace my Construction Master calculator It far exceeded Its better cheaper and its always with me Couldnt do with out it                 Nice work

Extremely functional app Highly capable with easy to use interface This my first construction type calculator and Im impressed with what it can do One nice feature is that you can email PDFs of a layout for stairs and then print it out Customer support is excellent as well Spoke with the Ben on the phone about a solution to a problem I couldnt figure out Very nice and knowledgable guy Thanks again for the help and a useful application                 Impressive Well worth a 20

Customer support is outstanding Had a simple problem with FAQ and user manual over the memorial day weekend Assumed they would eventually resolve the problem in weeks to come Received an email that day problem fixed the following day One of if not the best app purchases I have made                 Great APP

This app is better than the Construction Master 4 or 5 that I have used in the past If not for all the great features the fact I lost had borrowed 2 CM calculators but dont plan on losing or loaning my iPhone Get the app learn to use it be a better builder                 Very good program

Just bought the iphone6 This was one of the first apps I redownloaded It works great with the new IOS8                 Rock Solid

I do so love the baluster layout function It frees up so much time to do what I love best grinding Also great for quick modifications to layout Only sometimes it crashes on save would also be nice to be able to save jobs separately But that wont detract from my 5 star rating                 wowsa

Really needed a new construction calculator and like everyone else couldnt stomach paying another 100 for a new one Well just downloaded this app and was in the middle of pricing a job when I couldnt access a certain command I sent an email to customer support and to my surprise they emailed me back within about 10mins Couldnt believe it After being let down in the past by other App companies customer support its so nice to actually recieve great customer care Plus it really is a bloody good App Well done                 Fantastic App and great customer support

Im a professional timber framer and Ive used a construction master pro trig model for years This can do all if that and much more It goes beyond being a calculator and performs like a piece of software I still use the CM for simple feet and inch stuff and BuildCalc for anything serious                 Better than construction master

This calculated app far exceeds the capabilities of the construction master pro trig model The developer updates it with new functions all the time I highly recommend this app I have not used all the functions but there if need be Im running the iPhone 4s and it runs perfect I will refer to others Thank you for a perfect app Much appreciated                 Way better than the construction master

This has been a great app However it wont work since my OS updated last weekend Tried to contact app support but page cannot be found Please update and fix Needed to do roof calculations last week and it wouldnt work and I had no backup in the truck Put me in a real pickle 5 stars if support was available and on the ball UPDATE Found email adress for the developer and sent him an email with my phone attatched The guy called me back within 30 minutes He was at the store with his family on Sunday no less Went straight to work on the problem and had me straightened back out in 45 minutes All I can say is WOW Changed to 5 star Would give him 6 out of 5 for customet service alone Great response and thanks to BuildCalc                 OS updated now app wont open

The other app similar to this has plain been outclassed in productivity Keep it up Been referring this all around I like having a stand alone CM but in an otterbox this is one smart tough calculator                 Outclassing

This app is by far the best calculator I have seen It does everything I need plus a whole lot more I had trouble figuring out how to convert inches to tenths of a foot I emailed them and got an instant response with instructions how to do it This app got 5 stars because I cant figure out how to give it 10 stars                 Dave

I am a timber framer and our shop also does lots of other architectural projects out of heavy timber This is the construction calculator you want I use it on a daily basis and it has never failed me I use it for simple to very complex and it saves untold amounts of time It does hawkindale calculations and with the touch of a key explains them including square tail fascias My boss frequently asks me to verify his autocad drawings for entry errors I cannot recommend it enough                 This is the one

I am a custom furniture maker and this app gets a workout By setting my preferences I can fine tune it to work the way I need it to I use an iPod touch in a griffin survivor case and always have it handy                 Hands down the best calc Ive used

Update my original 5 star review has not changed with all the updates BuildCalc is awesome and the developer keep on making it better Well worth it I wish I had BuildCalc when I was more active in the ArchitecturalConstruction industry Now it receives lighter duty but is worth it none the less Having used it for a few weeks my only suggestion for improvement would be to allow an enhanced store function The app saves info from your calculations It would be even better if I could save results for a material takeoff which could then be emailed it already will email some results or saved as a PDF accessible to other office apps Even without this the app is still a complete Glad I have it                 Excellent App

I am a carpenter and I cut roofs when there is need for a conventional roof I have a construction master calculator and this app is just like the real thing For those who need instruction if you press a key and hold it a new screen will pop up and give you a brief explination O must say again if your working on a conventional roof this is a 5 star app I wish there was a greater need for conventional roofs as apposed to trusses              5 star app

whiteford1 According to the developer I am also running an older IOS 313 in my case and the last buidcalc update caused a crash in the app I contacted the developer and he had a fix to me the SAME day I cannot imagine better support considering I have not upgraded my iPhone 3G in over a year Ive paid a lot more for software in the past with no developer support I highly recommend this app and the developers support                 Great app and fantastic support

BuildCalc 20 is great major UI enhancements over 132 Well worth 20 Check out the new stairs UI it even emails PDFs Dev has obviously been hard at work on this upgrade and it shows              Version 2 puts BC back in the game

I have been using this app for a couple of years and before that a separate Builders Calculator As a carpenter this has become an invaluable tool and has really transformed my phone into something much more I have had no complaints at all with the performance of this app until the dawn of IOS7 As mentioned in another recent review the sounds of the key pad are gone and the display is too small forcing fractions to be cut off visually I hope the developers havent fallen asleep at the wheel and keep on top of these changes I really dont want to familiarize myself with a new building calculator app or for that matter go back to carrying a separate calculator altogether Cmon step up and stay on the cutting edge Thanks              Great but UpdatePlease

Im a general contractor and this app has become the only calculator I use and as you all know we go through calculator after calculator looking for the right app for all our varied building needs My search stopped here                 Excellent app and a very good job building this product

This is the most used app I have purchased for my iPhone and Ive purchased only really good apps that I need and use regularly In fact I have used it every day for about a year receiving each update as soon as it is released There are still features I have not yet relied on but when I need them they will come in handy such as the masonry and roof features The stair calculator is absolutely amazing and a huge time saver Now I am less likely to make an error and the drawing email concept is great The features I use most often are the metric and imperial conversions because I do a lot of CAD work and using this calculator is easier than my dedicated conversion app because BuildCalc lets me do the math and conversions simultaneously As a 3D design and sculpture instructor I use the circle and riserundiagonal tools to solve student project problems as well This calculators ability to be customized is a useful improvement over fixeddedicated physical calculators like my Construction Master 5 which I have taken out of my drawer only a few times since purchasing BuildCalc When Im working predominantly in metric mode BuildCalc is a metric dominant calculator And when inches and feet are needed for a job I set it to be predominantly imperial So why would I keep my Construction Master calculator Because sometimes I need to do calculations while also needing my iPhone as a phone or camera And sometimes I need the tactile feel of pushbutton keys which the iPhone cannot simulate But for the vast majority of needs it is the BuildCalc that gets used since it is always with me It is very helpful to be able to receive free updates for the calculator The cost of this app is so worth it I have purchased the Construction Master calculators for nearly 20 years needing to repurchase as improvements became available and when one of the calculators stopped working This amounted to 4 or 5 purchases of about 8090 each time Now this app is one purchase and has free updates Yeah A little while ago the program had a glitch and I emailed the designer He replied immediately and within the same day had solved the problem and reprogrammed the App releasing it a short time later This is true customer support and I discovered that they really do want input good or bad because this gets us a product that is truly what we want                 WOW

After trying Buildcalc and cmpro Buildcalc is clearly the winner Just like the ad says it is better with more features and easier to use and to display all calculated results                 Great app

I found a description of the app in a builder magazine and immediately searched for the program After the download to my iPhone I scanned through the manual and was amazed at the timesaving solutions to many of my everyday layout chores Being a second generation Home Builder and having labored through the repetitive layout calculation of stairs rails rafters etc I was amazed at how fast and easy this program made the normally redundant calculations The only minor drawback I found was the documentation didnt give complete and thorough directions about some of its features I received an email back from one of the developers with an answer to one of my questions within a few hours of having sent it I wish all apps had this kind of customer service              About time
