A few years ago for those who dont know what this is there was a device that was sold called the FM3 Buddha Machine It came in a small cardboard box with Chinese writing it took two AA batteries and had a speaker in it and was the size of a transistor radio Once you flipped it on it would play mysterious droning musical phrases that looped and were very soothing to listen to These items sold well especially here in Hollywood You can still find them on Amazon but this iPhone app is really the natural extension of the device and now more practical than ever It sounds better too since the original box often distorted a bit on lower tones While I dont hear the actual original loops that were in the physical Buddha Machine the ones that are included in this app are really nice and I find them conducive to listen to while youre writing or working on your computer It helps you focus The app itself is incredibly simple and could use a bit more refinement but basically you get a picture of what looks like the original Buddha Box on the screen If you swipe with your finger you can change its color Touching the speaker grill changes the loop youre listening to if you touch the FM logo under the speaker you get a couple simple controls for length of time it will play and a background switch The font used is almost impossible to read Its gray on a colored background and very very small so they need to make it more legible There are no other user prefs than these two settings so it is very simple In general it is very much like the original box and an interesting experiment in how musical tones can improve your concentration or mood I like it Buddha Box for your iPhone
