Brew Your Own Magazine

BYO has always been a great magazine I was looking forward to the digital subscription Wow was I disappointed So much possibility wasted Besides the REALLY slow viewer that doesnt let you download the app for quick viewing when not connected like GQ many other magazine apps the creator did not leverage technology to creat a fantastic digital experience Mags like American Modelers Assoc have video links to howtos demos that would lend well to BYO regular articles Please keep making this better well worth the cost        Love the magazine but digital app is lacking

Dont get me wrong I love the magazine and have been a print subscriber in the past However I feel that 28 for a digital 8 issue subscription the same as the print price is outrageous     Magazine is great but the app is NFG

Lots of good info for a new guy like me But 5 bucks for a digital copy is to much You save money on printing and shipping plus its more Eco friendly Why not shave a dollar off           To expensive

I cant believe theyve released this in a nonNewstand format Thats just lazy Newsstand has been around for long enough that no magazine should come in any other format BlueToad the app publisher needs to get its act together Apart from the lack of Newsstand support the app seems really poorly conceived I have apps for 20 magazines and this is one of the worst down there with Pixel Mags offerings No previews huge thumbnails in the store four issues per screen and minimal interactivity page scans basically Also Im a print subscriber and theres no clear way to get access to a free digital subscription like so many other magazines print subscriptions offer In fact theres no subscriber option at all and each issue costs a whopping 499 BYO has aimed for the lowest common denominator in this app and Im sad to say they hit it Its really disappointing as the mag content is excellent It deserves a better app I can only assume all of the five star reviews are for the content rather than the app        Not Newstand compatible no subscriber access expensive Fail

The app just lets you read the magazine on your iPad and does that well Also lets you view the content of linked articles and ads occasionally a real timesaver Id prefer that the electronic version were cheaper since the printing and shipping costs are virtually eliminated but I do like the app Give it a try              Nice way to read BYO

Just so everyone knows a yearly subscription to the electronic edition is 28 or 33 for an electronic print subscription Check the publishers site for the link                 Subscription Prices

I love Brew your own but this app is terrible It appears to rely on a solid Internet connection before it will launch If all content could be stored locally and the app launched in offline this would be a 5 star review Pros content searching bookmarks back issue catalog Cons it wont load consistently     Great but terrible

Great magazine and really good content However I spend the vast majority of my time dealing with the app itself and deletingreinstallingupdatingdownloading the same issue again and again Im going to change to print edition only           Great content poor app

A truly awful app that insults readers while it annoys them Stop pretending that you have an app While a real app would be best I wouldnt be so annoyed if I just got a PDF of the mag so I could read it using a decent program not designed solely to get more sales while avoiding any utility for the reader But this is worse than that because it does nothing right When did you ever see any app for presenting written content that didnt remember where you were when last reading Didnt let you search Didnt let you create bookmarks that you can find by searching Come on guys Put down those beer mugs and sober up before you try to release an app     The worst of the worst

Bit app needs work Difficult to get digital version that I have already paid for but once I gets loaded then it is a pretty good thing           Great magazine

Great interface but seems to get stuck on the load screen about every 23 months A quick reinstall fixes the issue Content in the mag is great              Good app a little unstable

I love the way they programmed the App to open a lower half screen when I hit a link Great to have my Brew magazine with me when traveling on my iPad without the extra weight of the print magazine                 Long awaited and very well done

Would be a five star if you didnt need to be connected to the Internet to read To me the whole purpose of electronic books is read anywhere anytime Cant read it on the plane              BYO

Overall the digital versions are the same as the printed versions with the exception of live links added to ads and web addresses One of the great things about the digital version is the search feature that will search through all the digital issues you have Handy if you are looking for an article but cant remember the issue My only complaint is that the entire bounds of the ads are hyperlinked and I often tap them by mistake Its not a big deal Just a minor annoyance              Now I Dont Have To Keep The Print Versions

Im one that doesnt like having magazines pileup no matter what the magazine This is nice being able to have it electronically I wouldve given it five stars if it was in a format that I could read when not online for example on an airplane with no wifi Over all the best homebrew magazine out Such great info to help refine your brewing              Great having on all my devices

I love BYO magazine and am a loyal reader and homebrewer Love the content this is my first year that I did the digital print option The criticisms I have on this app is that the magazines arent integrated with the Newstand app and that the login information is somewhat confusing and appears to be different than the website           Great Magazine Why Seperate App

I have paid for the electronic version of the magazine and the app just doesnt work It gets stucked on the opening screen and anything else happens Shame on you publishers     Wont work

Beginner home brewer and this magazine is great The e version has worked fine and I like the ability to click on links in the magazine The downloaded magazines work offline for me so far                 Helpful and no problems so far

This magazine is a great resource for home brewers with plenty of good tips and fun projects                 Fantastic Mag

I am revising my review down because I discovered that even though you have PAID for and downloaded issues YOU CANNOT READ THEM without an Internet connection Whats with that Sad to discover this on a three hour plane trip Thats the reason you download them Do you get paid for hyperlinks to ads and need them See next gripe Second gripe too expensive compared to most magazines to add digital to the paper sub Many mags let you do it for free Third doesnt remember your password although this could be an iOs issue Fourth should be integrated with newsstand        BYO mag app

I love BYO magazine but this digital version is a huge disappointment Its basically the print version ported to digital with the addition of hyperlinks Im guessing its really just a PDF The app designers completely miss the mark The content needs to be reworked for digital not just be pictures of the magazine pages that you have to zoom into to read Reading on an iPad is okay at best if you switch to portrait mode Reading in landscape is bad and reading on the iPhone is just painful You need to zoom in then drag the page around to read the articles Its truly horrendous Tip to the app designers This is not print media its a screen on a device Forget about the magazine layout and ditch the PDF Make it more like an ebook The text and photos should fit to the screen then either scroll or flip to the next screen Or you could just have the article scroll down like a web browser        Print layout ported to digital

When I can get the app to launch the content is great I love being able to save my favorite articles and recipes But that isnt very often When I try to launch the app I get the blue Brew screen and the spinning white circle After 5 minutes I cant stand it any longer so I quit the app in the dock Subsequent tries get similar results with a app crash once and a while I even try a resets on my iPad Eventually I might get success I deleted the app about a month ago and reinstalled it yesterday No change to its launch reliability Ive been trying to open it for the last 20 minutes If this were fixed Id pour 5 stars all over it But for now Im angry for purchasing a subscription for a product that I cant reliably use Why didnt they just use Newsstand     Great Mag Awful App

The App Store lists this app as free but each issue will cost you just under 500 When you are miss lead from the start the product is generally not worth buying     Free is not free

Love the app I Love the print version too but always love to have the back issues on my pad Get it Got it                 If you like to brew you must renew

I enjoy the magazine thoroughly and now on my iPad even better I do wish it was integrated into the newsstand like other magazines and I wish it was downloaded so you dont need a connection Hoping an update will fix these issues soon           Enjoying but needs a few fixes

This app rarely works Ive contacted support with little assistance given They tell me theyve had no other problems I guess that means mine must not exist then     Would be better if it worked

I find the magazine to be a little amateurish in production but theres good information in it The app needs work About every other time I go into it the trial magazine I downloaded isnt there and I have to restart my iPad to clear things up BTW for those with a print subscription digital access to those issues is only 5 more total There isnt a per issue charge Update After converting my subscription to printdigital I couldnt download any of the authorized issues the app would just spin I deleted and reinstalled the app and it seems to be working better now           Soso Good Content but needs work

I read it cover to cover I also enjoy the digital upgrade edition It makes it easy to explore the additional links found in every issue Just tap or click the link and it takes you right to the article or sponsors web site                 I love BYO

I cant go without this magazine If your a home brewer and you dont read this you are SERIOUSLY wrong                 A Must Have
