I have an older copy of the print Better World Shopping Guide but I don t carry it with me so it doesn t do much good except for those few things I memorize And even then I am frustrated by the lack of information as to WHY things are rated as they are I hoped this app would give at least as much info as the book and perhaps more that WHY that would allow me to tell businesses why I am or am not spending with them But unfortunately the app offers even less than the book Plus as the other reviews mention you can t look things up by category so if I want to find the best gas station bank or grocery store I must look up each one individually And it is worse once you get to a store You have to look up each brand individually I very much hope someone dedicated and capable is working on this app to make it more useful It is needed Unfortunately as it is now the app is frustrating more often than helpful         Frustrating Alxnnnn

The reviews seem to match with what I know about the companies I d say this is an incredibly useful and convenient guide to have available in your pocket to help with purchasing decisions And as with most guides I d say its possible that it is not entirely accurate It lists its sources and its process so personal research into it is up to the user I can definitely echo the desire for the return of the search by category like in the previous version 5 stars once that has been added Overall I find this to be an excellent idea and great app to help make more earth friendly choices                 Hey guide that I find extremely useful Hajuasahi

I love the idea of this app and so badly want to adhere to it s suggestions of where to shop and where not to based on the grades given the companies brands which seem to be based on reliable research However as a consumer on a budget I need a little more convincing If the grades were accompanied by an explanation as to why the company brand received that grade I would be much more likely to follow through with either supporting or boycotting that company brand In a town where choices are limited especially for those whose financial resources are limited I need to really believe in what I m supporting and therefore need more information so I can truly make an informed choice         Good idea but emansfie

This application is a great idea and easy to use but it fails by just giving companies a letter grade without any explanation of why they were graded It is a terrible idea to encourage people to blindly accept their ratings without any background on why a company was rated that way For an example of how to do this right check out the excellent Seafood Selector put out by the monteray bay aquarium They have a rating but then they provide links to extensive documentation on how the rating was reached We are not idiots give us a chance to come to our own conclusions         Great idea but needs more info DJSuperfly

I wish you ll be able in a near future to provide more info on the brands probably on its way personnaly I foresee it as a very useful way of learning or checking to which major group each brand belongs to where is it manufactured and how much they invested in eco reforms the grades A to F are just not enough In the meantime thank you for this very promising app                 love it but rih60

I m giving this five stars for the fact that it exists Having an electronic version of the book on my phone as an app is great I frequently find myself checking it at the store or showing my friends The searching capability makes it very quick and easy to find what I want However I think the positive possibilities for expanding this app are excellent When I click a company name why not have some quick facts about that company that would help explain its letter grade How about a link that shows me nearby places I can buy grade A products on a map I hope the developers continue to expand this app Also I would really love to see the categories not listed in all caps It s really grating on the eyes A few suggestions but this is a great start                     A Great Start Hoofhammer
