I find this program very helpful when I m traveling to translate information I take a photograph and translated as the programs designed I also find it very helpful as an OCR I ake a photograph and something in English translate from English to English and this allows me to have a inexpensive OCR Thank you for your design                     Great OCR BuddyLove1844

I was psyched I found this app when I spent a week in Japan thinking this would help me in a big way Wrong Out of 10 tries using photos of clear commercially printed Japanese signs fliers or menu s the resulting translations were all as meaningless as the Japanese version Random English words strung together with a few Japanese characters sprinkled in     Great in theory JSiver

Out of sheer desperation I found this app which is something all other translation apps need to be able to do take existing text and verify accuracy visually While I was using hand written letters from my great aunt to my late grandmother the app would add characters or misinterpret characters something I expected as the letters were hand written To callibrate I selected printed pages from a Japanese English dictionary and was met with similar if not more severely flawed results I was unable to have this app successfully read February written in any form of Japanese in physical type written print or hand written App is sorely needed to fill the gap especially for non Latin based languages         Needs a lot of work RHM Designs

I got this app to help me during a trip to Paris the camera option didn t even work once and the manual translate worked seldom at best It needed an internet connection which wasn t always so readily available overseas All in all I wouldn t waste 5 on this         Unsatisfied LIQUID_SKY

As a university professor who travels overseas frequently I bought this app in spite of the lousy reviews it has received Guess what The lousy reviews are accurate The software recognition part of this app is non existent After it fails to recognize words printed in block letters it asks you to type in the letters yourself So the app cannot translate anything on the fly You are better off using the app itranslate a much more accurate and cheaper app Please do not waste your money buying this app     A dysfunctional and utterly useful app Justice786

This application does not work I do not know how it has passed the Apple Store filter but this is a scam I downloaded this app in order to translate some text from German it is awful Besides not working it did not even recognize the text appropriately If I was you I was not going to waste my money on this     SCAM Milcho Uzunov

I agree with the other reviewers on this topic I am currently in Japan and the translation is total jibberish after multiple attempts with extremely basic text and a clear view of both hiragana and kanji This app does not perform as advertised and the app company should discontinue marketing until they translations are even roughly correct     Japanese language translation completely not functional Lief Morin

I had high hopes for this app I wanted something that would read Japanese text using my iPad camera Unfortunately when I tested it on an English language newspaper not having any Japanese text around I discovered that the OCR is very poor producing lots maybe 30 of gibberish This was using the iPad camera and getting about as close to the text as the camera would focus the developer s site suggests that people who have problems with OCR in this app are shooting the text from too far away As a comparison I took pictures of the same text using another cheaper if not free translator and the OCR worked perfectly I repeated this experiment with several text samples and always got the same results Now I don t know how this app works for Japanese text but if it s anything like how it works for Latin based letters it s worthless It does have two good points the user interface is nice and the translations seem to work well I had it translate into Spanish a language I know But that s very small comfort since the OCR on which the translations are based basically doesn t work If they d fix the OCR this would be a good app     Bad OCR El Cajon

Yesterday I downloaded this app to my iPhone 4S Today when I manually input German text the translation worked fine When I took photos however all I got is gibberish a few words and lots of punctuation marks I have tried this using a photo of just nine German words and the result was the same gibberish In rating this app I see that I am not in the minority there are lots of one star ratings Yet when I went to download the app iTunes said it had a rating of 4 I don t understand this And I d like my money back but I guess that won t happen     Review of Babelshot gunther1989

It doesn t work I spent 4 hours trying all the tips they offer in their trouble shooting section I tried German Dutch and Spanish and it wouldn t recognize any of the phrases I typed up I even tried to get it to translate English to English and it couldn t do that They basically stole 5 from me     DO NOT BUY liuhliunbjk.
