August: Smart Lock

Easy to install works perfectly A little pricey but still plan on buying a second unit                 Awesome product

I dont understand why these guys cant get simple algorithms to work correctly This lock was at its best after the LAST update and the recent firmare upgrade Fast autounlock was working 7080 of the time still unacceptable This current update has once again RUINED the entire functionality of this lock AutoUnlock is down to about 20 no its not the batteries Widget is slow Only variables being app upgrades I dont even want to upgrade anymore but always hope it will inprove things FAIL August     Im about to throw it away

So far its working very good for my home regardless of what I read about it before owning mine A note to all a deadbolt is more secure than a regular lock Where a regular lock can be jammed and easily open a deadbolt is difficult to jam                 August smart lock is great

I like this app and lock better than any other option on the market but it is by no means perfect I started with a lock that near immediately started showing trouble signs Wouldnt connect initially slow performance and eventually grinding and tapping noises that were embarrassing when guests were over like we were dummies to go after the smart home After pulling some teeth And shooting several short productions to prove the issues were real they sent a new lock The new one so far seems much faster and seems to be way more reliable over wifi with August Connect All was hunky dory until today when I received an email stating I should postpone the highly anticipated iOS 9 from Apple because the August dev team was asleep at the wheel updating for new bluetooth protocols Stating an update is expected in 72 hours Which sounds like it was submitted 72 minutes ago Come on Lucky for me this is just the front door to my home and I can get a key and the weather is clear What about the customers in the demo screen shots that are managing BBs remotely Are they going to turn away customers for 72 hours that update to iOS 9 because they cant get into a room This is a responsibility you accepted when you sold your first lock Step up to the plate or get out of the stadium        So close yet so far

Apple watch update Works great Loads fast Why cant other 3rd party apps be this good Not certain why others are complaining about the app Its intuitive and works at about the same pace as other apps and the unlocking pace is akin to my experience with other Bluetooth locks Love the free variable keys that can be extended and withdrawn easily Installation was beyond easy Dont over tighten the screws 5 stars for a leading product                 Great lock

Very happy with the hardware and software integration The ability to have the app automatically unlock the door as I approach is a huge win Im ordering another lock for our garage door                 Excellent

Watch app very buggy Pulses grey half the time and wont connect And why not have the app both phone and watch switch from Bluetooth to remote connect automatically after a few seconds if Bluetooth is out of range Thats how the Hue app and the Indigo touch app both work more more seamless connection        Buggy

Ever lock works every time Autounlock works 99 of the time I get notifications when someone is home Itd be nice if it worked with other home devices too like Philips Hue lights In any case the app has improved so much since I bought the lock in November 2014 810 would recommend The only other minor issue is the epic authorization process Sending a link and having them download the app sure thats fine But having to provide an email a photo with twostep authorization Its a bit too much If I give my permission to use the lock then it shouldnt be so hard Especially if its a one time use for say the plumber              Much improved after update

It doesnt auto unlock all the time but I wasnt expecting it to do that either But it does unlock most of the time and frankly that feature isnt the most important to me I wanted to be able to make sure I didnt forget to lock my door and I can log in over the Internet whenever I want I order to do it I dont have ever lock turned on because I keep my door open when Im home and its summer time Installation was a breeze and the lock seems reliable after using it for a few weeks Make sure Your door is aligned and your deadbolt doesnt catch on anything I bought an adjustable plate fory door prior to installing August Great product Im thrilled Id like to see Siri integration next                 Great lock

Plus now I never forget my phone                 Love leaving my keys behind

It works like a charm its so convenient when you have different workers coming to the house and along with my high def security camera it couldnt be better Go and get it you will not regret it                 Best move I ever made

What an ingenious idea I was a little nervous after reading some of the negative reviews and all of the issues people were having but I have to say I am totally blown away with this product and the August support team The app and lock work as designed and I love that I can see what time people enter and leave the apartment Its great I will be a big advocate of this product for sure Thanks August Whats next                 5 Stars

The August lock is easy to install on most deadbolts and makes interacting with your lock from your phone over Bluetooth really easy With their additional WiFi plug in it is remotely accessible over an Internet connection too Best of all your old key still works whenever you want your lock to be dumb again Nice design easy to install and simple to use I have seen a lot of negative reviews and I totally disagree with them This smart lock improved the functionality of my existing door lock with little fuss and now we can let people in while out of state and give our housekeeper specific access hours without leaving a key out each week Its a great product                 Excellent Bluetooth Lock with WiFi Optional

The lock was extremely easy to install and to set up Within 5 minutes I was up and running I also installed the wifi hub with no issues at all The lock has been working flawlessly since installed                 Very good product

As we know all digital devices have problems But because this protects your house we naturally hold it to a higher standard As other reviewers have noted mine worked about 85 percent of the time Sometimes it didnt open and sometimes it made a grinding noise and jammed shut So after weeks of fiddling around unsuccessfully I removed it threw it away and now use my physical key which works 100 of the time But I love the concept and will probably try again if they come out with a new version           Okay its a computer

Love my new August lock The lock has performed flawlessly so far Locks when Im away opens automatically when I return And you can still use your original keys Its all I could ask for All problems Ive had so far have had to do with bad locks than Augusts hardware All in all a great buy                 Flawless so far

As a new mom I love that I can enter my house when I get home or leave with a car seat purse diaper bag and any new purchases etc without having to dig out my keys The only downside is that I do have to bring up the app if we are just coming in from playing outside because I havent gone far away enough for the app to realize I have returned or if it takes us more than 2 minutes to come inside from the time we get home as it will relock I love that there are options for how long to wait to relock but we arent comfortable with more than 2 minutes Havent had any connectivity issues and I love that we can also unlock the door remotely This allowed me to let in guests when I have a sleeping baby in my arms and also makes it easy to let in a housekeeper or pet sitter without giving out copies of our house key Finally we have a Kevo on our other door and have been much much happier with August              Handsfree mostly

My August was so simple to install and setup By far has to be the easiest home automation device Ive set up I have an iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and the smart lock has worked great Really enjoying it Updated for iOS 9 and works great love it                 Works great easiest set up ever

It claims to decreasing bugs while improving connection speedfail It is at best three times slower The widget doesnt work properly It used too Its launched the application but then takes FOR EVVVVV ERRRR to connect Sometimes it even fails to connect I have to rely then on the problematic August Connect adaptor to let me in I too have noticed issues with odd newly created lock noise Motor sound running even though the operation has finished Please fix Youre making physical keys look smart     Last updates is horrible

Unlike many similar home automation products I have used this one just works as advertised The software and hardware had always worked as expected That is rare these days                 It just works

This lock has come a long way from the start The app has improved drastically Very happy and great customer service Now we just need that support Update Love the Apple Support Better versions of this will come in Watch os 2 But its a start Issue maybe I do notice that if my phone is bellow 10 the auto Unlock feature does work well                 AutoUnlock

Latest update breaks despite claiming iOS 9 support This whole experience has been a nightmare First my wife hates the product because it looks like a can of baked beans replaced our door lock Second the company sends everyone an email yesterday telling them to NOT update under any circumstance Keep in mind iOS 9 is fixing important security updates and August like a couple of numbskulls are telling you NOT TO APPLY IMPORTANT SECURITY UPDATES Third they send everyone a push notification 12 hours later informing them to update as soon as possible Fourth THE STUPID UPDATE THEY PUSHED OUT DOES NOT WORK I CANT EVEN LOCK MY HOME BEHIND ME THIS MORNING Thats it Done Finite Selling this pos on Craigslist     Company Does Not Have its Act Together

But Im still amazed with apps that dont support the iPhone 6 Plus screen size Its been a year update already              Good system so far

Having keyless entry to the house is amazing August setup was easy and has been working well                 Game changer

Was having problems with the Connect and app crashing but these issues now seem to be remedied Changing my review from 3 to 5 for the quick correction                 Back on track

Ever since the last update the widget does not work correctly If I hit unlock it just hangs and then attempts to lock it           Widget

App and lock once properly installed have been solid If I could ask for one thing it would be to put the words locked and unlocked or open and closed on the app screen              Solid app and lock

The installation was simple all I did was follow the easy stepbystep instructions And the lock works perfectly It unlocks when I come home and am walking toward the door and locks itself one minute after Im back inside the house The best part is that I didnt have to change the lock and still use the key I already had for my apartment if I ever have the need to do so I couldnt be happier                 Works exactly as advertised

The August system as a whole works very well but I wish the app explained a touch more It took awhile to figure out what the pulsing meant              Great System

Weve been using August about a week and like it more than we anticipated We were offered the system for use as Airbnb hosts and so far our guests live it One thing Id suggest for the company is including the extra long screws necessary if you have a Schlage deadbolt We had some sent out after discovering the included ones werent long enough Yes you gotta do a bit of prep first w creating profiles and uploading pix and when you want to offer access and when its retracted but we love that the lock automatically locks itself and knows when youre approach and will open the door for you if the app is running Its pretty cool and we appreciate the convenience                 Something New
