Its near impossible to actually use this as a field guide and help identify trees that you may encounter Very confusing Difficult to use
While this app used to work fine the most recent update that I downloaded has made this app unusable I reported the problem to Green Mountain via a helpdesk email A week after doing that still no one has gotten back to me I recontacted them still no answers Disappointing when this is a paid app While the app did reappear as something to update via a download nothing changed It still shows installing and is unusable after numerous sync attempts App doesnt update correctly
I have NOT registered and then when I try to register it says that Im already registered and wont let me in with a new password I hope theyll donate my app fees to cleaning up the environment All these audubon apps keep telling me that
I to liked the app and have had it for a long time but the newest update wont alow it to load on your device it has been almost a month now and nothing from Green Mountain I have most of Apps from them they all work fine except this one After spending all this money on Apps from them and not so much as a reply on when they will fix it feels like a kick in the gut APP does not load

While they got a couple leaf images right like the Pyramid Magnolia and Royal Paulownia most pictures are of clusters and you cant discern the shape at all Something so simple obvious and basic for identification yet they completely missed Disappointing A shame
New update will not install adn app is now totally unworkable Have contacted them twice no reply A waste of time and effort Stay away App will not sync and company will not respond

Ok so after a lot of effort found my tree but filters not really setup to work everywhere in app Then could not post sighting kept freezing when ready to post Then kept freezing everywhere Worst looks like it keeps my location services active even after quiting app Even worse kept open even after shutdown and restart iphone Had to disable loc services for app Really hope they get it fixed I like the Audubon series apps and want to keep using the Nature Share site Kinda works

There are some good ideas here Wish you could search by region it would make tree identification easier by narrowing search results I think thats why you want people to post signings but I found it tedious and frustrating to post a sighting Fix it up a bit and it would be cool
Under iOS 71 or iOS 711 the current version of the Audobon Trees app cannot be installed on my iPhone 5s All I get is a dimmed icon under which it says installing forever I suggest not purchasing this app or updating an older version until this problem is resolved Latest version 33 will not install on iPhone 5s
The update does not install I contacted the owners and they were of no help They said I needed 1 GB of memory in order to download I have over 7 GB The updated Audubon Wildflowers also will not download I have tried to download each over a dozen times Other updated Audubon apps downloaded just fine What gives Does not install

The user interface is clunky at best There is no way to navigate through the experience to easily ID trees in a thoughtful logical way There is also no back button Also I may be in a specific region and there is no option to geo locate my position to narrow down the possibilities instead I have to choose region through a series of accordion style check boxes to help narrow my choices The problem is if I dont know the right check box which are really hard to select combo I am left with a very wide irrelevant search or with no trees at all I bought this app to help me ID trees and instead I find I am trying to figure out the app A few times I have just given up which is a bummer because it is why I purchased this app in the first place Painful UI

I had the instsalling hangup for this app also Butterflies I figured that since it got some good reviews it must work for some people so the problem likely had something to do with the setup of my iPhone I took it to the Genius Bar and they held my hand walked me through a reset to change all settings bacck to default This does not touch the data on the phone just the settings wallpaper ringtones alarm tones etc Now the app works fine One more note before you muck with your phone you should do a backup My only complaint is that Green Mountain Digital could have and should have told all of us how to fix this a long time ago The Audubon apps are great fix for installing hangup
A lot of the negative reviews I have read seemed like user error Good app advanced search tool is awesome I bought almost all of the audobon guides and am very happy Works fine

I live in New England and this app is terrible for this region There are very few trees identified in this region in this app most seem to be from the West Coast area I dont want to know the most common trees that I already know like white birch so put more unusual tree species We have a lot of different trees up here so please add more to your databank When using the identifiers leaves shape etc you cannot put more than one checked box in a category or it wont come up This is frustrating especially if youre trying to compare trees such as Dutch Elm and slippery elm Overall I rate this app as a 15 star Much more can be done with this I think Ill carry around the book Region specific
I tired this app out on a trip to the Sonoran Desert The coverage there is very limited it is very slow to use and comparisons are difficult All the trees I couldnt identify to genus were not in the manual The tree that was in flower everywhere was Parkinsonia microphylla foothill paloverde It is depicted in a single picture 2 inches square that cannot be expanded and shows only the form of growth and the fact that it has yellow flowers One cannot tell the size of the flowers the number of petals etc I was not able to determine what is searched for search terms but it appears you cannot search for family names eg Compositae or Composite and searches for vernacular family names present odd results eg pines when searching for Pea Limited Coverage and Hard to Use for Identification

Sighting Location defaults to Vermont It is tedious and slow to change location Could developer not use users home location as starting point Once a sighting is posted it can not be edited You can not add a picture or change location You can not add a tree to your life list unless you do it as you are making a sighting You need to make that possible when searching the same way you can favorite Besides those problems I easily identified what I was looking for FIX it and make it great Needs work and could be great
There should be more photos of the entire tree Too many of the images are close ups of the leaves or the flower or fruit or the bark Its really not possible to identify an unfamiliar species this way Thats like identifying birds through pictures of the feathers beak and feet Ok but

Do not buy this software This software is very poorly executed It has a decent data base but navigation is difficult as is search Most annoyingly the location identifier does not work Its supposed to put a pin in the map where you are but always pins some place in Vermont Its very cumbersome to move he pin and even if you are successful at that it reverts at the next use A very clunky bug filled effort by Audubon No organization should put out a product this bad least of all The Audubon Society Problems Problems Problems Dont Buy
