This app quits randomly spends an inordinate amount of time Preparing your download during which nothing else can be done and is very slow to start up Unfortunately it is the only access to the electronic edition of the Albuquerque Journal that I have I d like to rate it zero stars     Very poor app jerryk70

October 3 This is the most aggravating and poorest designed app I ve ever used What did y all do take the lowest bid There have been problems from the start but now it is almost impossible to read as the text is blurry and very slowly sharpens when a page is opened or scrolled It s ridiculous And if I switch to another app and leave this one open it will always close itself and reopen at the open screen so I have to start all over and figure out where I left off It s really not worth the trouble after all these months of waiting for a reasonably decent reading experience I ve been a subscriber for almost 15 years but there are other sources for news Providing digital subscription customers an app like this shows disregard for your customers You apparently don t value my business so it s time to say adios Sometime last May Could ya ll see your way clear to making this app functional please There are many issues as others have listed but the thing that s making me close to deleting it and not renewing my subscription is that about 35 old issues are taking up nearly 5Gb the Delete tabs beneath the issues don t function Also the dates are written incorrectly for the US May 10 2017 is 5 10 2017 not 10 05 2017 So I have to wonder where this app was produced I m hoping production wasn t outsourced to China or Russia     Worst app ever and adios DayWhirl

Updating my review Crashing again Don t you ever test before you release Started crashing a few weeks ago Nothing worked I closed the app deleted and reinstalled the app No joy Now I can get it to work about every other day Sometimes just closing the app and restarting does it Some times I have to delete and reinstall the app But some days nothing works and it s a waste of money for the subscription Where are the developers     Horrible EllaNM

Another update to your latest update I commented on earlier this week Yes once I downloaded the app after deleting it works fine However again at the airport with no internet connection and your app crashes whenever you open it It would be nice if I could give this app a negative star as I have not seen a more difficult app in my life Subscription soon to be cancelled I will say it again test before you deploy     Another Update and another problem cframel

As the title says the app consistently fails whenever I use either the Page Browser or Download functions from the Menu This has been a problem since this App was rolled out but I am just now getting around to commenting on it Because I cannot see the downloads with the Downloads function I cannot selectively delete them To delete old issues I uninstall and reinstall the App every month or so The version of the App is 4 9 9 My IPad is running IOS version 10 3 3 August 5 Yes I am using the hamburger menu in the upper right corner of the replica version of the paper If I select either the Page Browser or Downloads function the app terminates I changed the setting for how many issues to keep and that made no difference Of course I can t see how many old downloads there are so I don t know if this deleted old issues or not I also cleared the cache and that did not help either All other functions under the hamburger menu in the replica area seem to be working It is only Page Browser and Downloads options that cause the app to terminate August 11 Problem solved almost see August 12 update Here is what I did Uninstalled the app Shut down the iPad power off Started the iPad power on Installed the app from the app store This seemed to fix the problem with downloads but the page browser function would still cause the app to fail I repeated the procedure above and now all of the functions on the menu are working including downloads and page browser I suspect the that something in the uninstall process caused this problem so that might be something for you to look at August 12 When I downloaded and opened todays paper the problem with page viewer appeared again I opened the app and tried page viewer again and it worked I tried it again later and it failed Downloads continues to work OK August 14 The original problem is back Neither function works now         App fails when using Page Browser or Download functions Annie.GGG

The new version won t allow me to delete past downloads When it does try to delete it takes forever Then when I reopen the app the old versions I thought were deleted are back Nothing works The only advice I ve seen is to delete the app then reinstall That s not a fix This new version isn t user friendly         Go back to the old version Engine5guy

Even after three updates to last weeks new version still completely a fail Poor navigation still can t log in to my subscription can t print screen only print page which means I can t do crossword puzzles Again prior version before the update last week worked perfectly well I reverted back to older version until if this gets fixed If not will have to cancel subscription Addendum 6 24 07 Versio 4 9 9 app update still does not include Print Screen in addition to the full Print Page It has been promise this would be added When will this be added         Update still bad Abq md

I updated the app today and now in the eJournal Replica app pressing the Menu button crashes the app I can read the current edition but can t do anything else The new app update as of this spring has been really bad in a lot of ways but now it s really useless I m running iphone 6 with ios 8 1     June 24th update crashes Abqcheeks

The new version of the app is a downgrade from the previous version It is slow to open slow to download and we have lost the pace section navigation tool when looking at the replica form so all you can go is either scroll one page at a time or else go straight to the first or last page NOT an improvement     Not an improvement Abqus

Other than the speed of the downloads which has greatly improved the app still has many problems There are too many to discuss here For me the most significant problem is the inability to read prior downloaded issues while traveling on an airplane Before the recent change in the app this was not a problem     Please fix dgold7909

I have been downloading and reading offline on my iPad since the first version of this app older versions worked really well The new version constantly crashes and eventually won t open at all when not connected Page goes blurry requiring restart Have you given up on trying to fix the app No updates for over a month Also It is much more difficult to navigate and download previous issues and it looks like you can only access issues from the last 30 days would be nice if I could access older issues Lastly if you ever get it working properly I liked the double click feature on the older versions that would automatically zoom size the article     Still not working Andrew from ABQ

After releasing a very bad app re write the developers have made a variety of improvements to make the app serviceable While not nearly as good as the original the new version works well enough that you can read the paper What I like The app lets you see each page of the paper page through the paper by swiping across and zoom into each page to read the articles Additionally the paper downloads reliably What needs improvement Mainly navigation In the old app you could double touch the text of an article to quickly zoom in to a comfortable level to read the article in its original form Magic locks would make it so that the article stayed aligned in your view as you scrolled down through the article That was nice The new app has you zoom in specifically by using two fingers as if you were looking at a large generic PDF image You need to constantly manipulate the view to keep reading the article This is serviceable but not great In the old app you could get a reader view of the article by tapping on the article s title In the new app you get this reader view by tapping anywhere in the article That sounds like it would be better easier in BUT the text generated from the reader view is often full of editing mistakes and changes that have been corrected in the real paper along with text modifications the staff make in laying out the final paper like hyphens and paragraph breaks in the middle of paragraphs Sometimes whole paragraphs are missing Other times they are duplicated I am often left wondering whether I can trust what I m reading in that view so I avoid it Worse in making it easier to get to these poorly produced reader versions it s now harder to stick to the paper view A mis touch here or there and I m popped into a view I don t want The old app automatically managed your downloads deleting old papers to make way for the new The new app keeps your old content and you have to manually delete old papers I only just discovered this after two months as it s not obvious in the new app that it s storing any downloads as they are hidden behind some menus There are a variety of smaller issues that would be great to see fixed Like the amateurish way it uses 3 pop up menus to manage the download process with 2 of them only single button XXX complete But let s fix the basic stuff first Update on 4 25 2017 The journal updated its app today and it is a total and complete flop Reading the news on the app is anything but enjoyable or easy It is as if the software developers had gone on a year long binge retreat in Colorado and then came back to write this on the last day I hope they fix this soon At least give us back the last version This stinks Review from last year I m a long time subscriber to real newspapers I read the local paper almost every day This year I decided to make a slow transition to going all digital This app is a huge part of my decision to do that My real paper is great I can hold it open and look at the whole page or two at a time But I don t read it that way I fold open and refold it as I go along This digital paper is a lot like that but different I can sort of read it when I hold it open then I zoom in to read each story I can zoom in and read it as its laid out or tap the story headline and read it in a more tablet friendly way Reading in the zoomed in mode is great but imperfect The text is super clear and the photos are often fantastic That part is way better than real papers But on many days the paper comes with formatting problems The worst which I see in about 1 3 of the papers is associated with character rendering When you zoom in on text the first thing that happens is that the image zooms And so the text looks fuzzy Then the app re renders the text to make it look great It s perfect But In that 1 3 of bad papers a few seconds later the rendering system randomly about half the time kicks in again and makes the image fuzzy again Zooming slightly temporarily fixes this but can also kick in that bad habit Some days the odds of getting a readable page gets so low that I simply give up reading Reading in the text only mode gotten to by tapping on the stories title is ok but often problematic Scrolling is near perfect Some stories come out great but some have quality control problems For example the hyphens from the original are often messed up My worst discovery was that in one story cow chips the text in that mode was quite different than that in the regular zoom mode I think the text had the draft version of the story So for now I rate the digital delivery as being about as good as the real paper Some days great Some days good With great days being way better and bad days being well about as bad as reading a soggy rain soaked paper newspaper Perhaps in the future digital will end up being better than real I hope the glitches get smoothed out I especially hope the journal attacks its quality control problems For future features Maybe I ll be able to clip save and share articles and recipes with friends like via Facebook Maybe it ll read some stories to me Heck maybe they will record the authors or use actors to read them in their voices Lets hope             Once as nice as real paper then very bad now serviceable Abq Michael

I have several news apps that I read daily and this one is just a struggle every time I open it If you feel like wasting a lot of time go to the downloads and try deleting a few old editions But be careful because the dates are European format day month year     Really Bad Catomato

5 13 17 I tried downloading the newest version of this app 4 9 8 and it still needs work The fact that it makes you choose what format to view the current issue in is annoying The archive option only goes back 1 month Previously I had downloaded certain issues that were of particular interest to me and now I can no longer get to them Even with some of the issues that the previous version 4 8 5 had the format and usability were much better and easier to navigate I agree with other reviewers that you should kill this version and return to the previous version because this one is rotten and it stinks The app developers really need to fix this ASAP This update version 4 9 6 makes no sense is hard to navigate and does not allow the user to download any editions older than 1 month Also it totally deleted all of the issues I had downloaded to my library and now I can t go back and re download them     Horrible update Melurb
