My 8 year old daughter is completely nonverbal and has limited communication We ve tried other AAC apps without much success We decided to give AAcorn a shot and took advantage of the free trial period As a parent I find it easy to use and program My daughter is more interested in it than the other apps we ve tried it s interactive and child friendly and I think it seems more like a game to her There is also support available if questions come up I m looking forward to seeing where AAcorn will take my daughter I would definitely recommend this app to families looking to increase communication                     Great AAC app Chamremn

My daughter is severely delayed due to a rare genetic disorder She is non verbal limited ASL signs and hopeless on AAC apps or devices Until now This app is everything to pre literate children The predictability this app has is what I fell in love with compared to many other apps out there on iTunes The child s voice was also another selling point for my hopes of this being a better fit for my daughter The voice is so sweet and calm The usual computer generated voices tend to be strong loud and just unpleasant Not relatable or understood by children like my daughter The search bar categories settings ability to add words pictures change audio to ALL words the graphic savings a sentence to favorites to quickly access and of course Buddy are what make this app stand apart and surpass many other apps in all areas Buddy is a delightful little robot that my daughter loves to push but can be locked to prevent from him popping up verses text bubble being pushed to repeat a word or sentence The search bar is the best for everyone who uses this app within our family speech therapist occupational therapist ABA therapist dad and even old brother Just hit bottom left hand corner tab for categories swipes down for search bar and type That easy Other apps I looked into you had to watch a YouTube video to figure out how to even search for a word One of the hundreds of features I love is the adding words changing audio and personalized photos My son has added his own words for his sister with his voice recording He loves trying to help his sister and she adores hearing him coming from her app One of her favorites is I love my brother In my sons voice I swore off any and all AAC devices or apps until one came along that met my requirements I wanted for my daughter I never thought this day would come given all the other options out there that are not comparable to the AACORN app But I m glad someone proved me wrong I m elated someone saw the flawed systems out there through their own children s experience and delays Whom then wanted to change this communication barrier for children like my daughter with no real voice and no option for AAC computer voice to communicate                     A dream come true Sarabarrett

We have used various different aac apps over the years but this is the only one that my daughter wants to use It has a word tree that suggests words previously linked to other words a great help for her She can either use the category screen or word tree she has never linked words into short sentences before this app The tree can be trimmed to eliminate words that are not really associated with the words prior The developer is very good about teaching and helping new users They are working on an update to add symbol stix which will be available to all previouse app purchasers The appeal of this app is that it has more of an enticing look than others we have tried it engages the attention of my daughter and as you become familiar with it is a breeze to use My daughter previously had a dynavox but never used it to communicate She just did not want anything to do with it It had too many places to remember for her and was confusing She has learned to read with aacorn She explores counts labels and when I turn the sound off in certain places she will look at me and make the asl sign of a number of words she selects It has helped her learn the order of her numbers she really is drawn to it The suggestive nature of the word tree is different than typical word suggestions as it shows the pictures and every word suggested is based on previouse use You can train the app to offer selected words with other words and make it much easier for your young child to have a voice This very feature is the reason I chose aacorn over the others It does not take a lot of time or effort to model sentences a few times so that the word tree is trained                     The only aac app my daughter is willing to use on her ipad FrugalFanny

I have been using this app with my 3 year old son for many months now he was 2 when we started and it has been absolutely wonderful This app gave my child a voice when he was having a really difficult time making any sounds He was working with PECS prior to aacorn but his receptive vocabulary was expanding so rapidly that we decided to find a better solution Now he has started to put sounds together to form words Thanks to aacorn s very natural sounding word tree he already knew how to make phrases so he can even say a few himself now It is a fun modern AAC solution that is easy to use even for very young children There is a community of aacorn users on facebook that allows you to communicate directly with the app s creators so updates are directly influenced by feedback I have nothing but love for this app it has helped my son immensely in his journey                     Love it CitrusRuu

The concept of this app is great However the language is very limited You can add words but you have to record the sound which means that you need a verbal child to do this or your kid will be stuck with some words in a kid s voice some in your voice Not cool Also it is a very difficult transition from the grid format It s a good thing I got it on sale I wasted 100 less bucks         Needs work Starberns

I downloaded AAcorn yesterday and I absolutely love it The word tree concept really does work The more you access words the easier it becomes to use We have been struggling to get my seven year old son motivated to use a speech generating device because up until now signing has been easier and more natural but Aacorn s word tree really is making things flow more naturally He loved watching the little robot buddy show him how to make sentences The interface isn t like any other AAC program we have tried and does really seem to engage him The developers and app support have been very responsive and helpful                     Amazing Ebemyname
