5000 Chinese Audio Flashcards is the fastest way to learn to read Chinese using the iPhone. Easy to use, it uses science behind the scenes to ensure you learn to read as fast as possible. SCIENCE Optimization ...
This is a very irritating app but has possibilities if fixed It shows numerous decks as advertised But what the advertising doesnt show is that if you display the characters with pinyin the definitions are truncated If the meaning is more than a couple words the meaning ends with an ellipsis but theres nothing to click on to see the rest of the meaning Theres no sound in this app which is ok as the lists themselves are useful but not when the definitions are lopped off        I cant believe someone rated this a 5
Ive tried a lot of flash card apps and this is by far my favorite                 Favorite flash card app
This is a helpful app and worth the small price My only suggestion is to build in lists of common multicharacter words              Solid app
Multiple choice as youre studying the flashcards Seriously Please include a fix for this that just shows the character then reveals the pinyin and meaning when you hit a button and at least make the multiple choice function optional if not eliminate it altogether This app is very disappointing as is Otherwise 5000 characters is nice but that doesnt make this a good learning tool This app has potential but needs to be fixed     Multiple choice negates this apps usefulness
I thought about buying actual physical flashcards but then I ran into this app and I love how it works It helps me learn and I dont have to worry about the methodology of going back to review and figuring out which ones I should review Also like that it tracks the mastery                 Great app
Im a rank beginner and Ive tried a lot of programs for learning Chinese This one works the best for me so far The other one I like is iChinese Its very simple just flashcards for single characters but it works excellently for what it does Mainly you learn to read characters and associate them with their pinyin pronunciation which you hear as audio as well and some rather questionable meanings I say questionable because in Chinese it usually takes two or more characters to define the meaning and this program doesnt go that far Nonetheless Ive learned to recognize more characters with this software than with anything else and that will be invaluable              Nicely done
This app is great for reviewing words that I already know and just need to practice more I dont think the app would be very good for trying to learn new characters or grammar but it is very useful for studying characters that I have already learned and refreshing my Chinese while I am not taking any classes over the summer              Great to help with Memorization
I love using flashcards to learn languages and this is one of the best apps I have tried The way it works makes it like a game so I find myself using this app whenever I am boredusing time on the bus on the elevator etc to relearn the Chinese I learned in college but forgot years ago Of course this app does NOT teach you exactly how to write the characters NOR how to use the words to make sentencesbut you can use this app if you have a teacher or a textbook to teach youthis app will help you begin to recognize Chinese characters for better reading skills Excellent app                 Great app
现在普通话很容易                 美丽
i love that you made an interface online for creating and sharing decks great but it takes way way way too long to enter all the info myself i could just make paper notecards you have all the right data just make it searchable please all me to search the database and select the characterdefinitionaudio pair i would like to add to my custom set if i could do this i would make a new deck every night based on the characters im working on for class also as the other comment pointed out i dont like the multiple choice it should be imo character pinyinenglish and the audio pronunciation should be available on both sides contact me if i can be of any help        the makings of a fantastic app
Good for a flashcard program but crashes randomly              Good
Presents Chinese characters in flash card format with audio queues and multiple choice quiz Perfect for knowledge review and excellent for a complete novice Graduated repetition works very well A small complaint is that it seems to select from only one deck of 20 cards at a time An improvement might be to allow for multiple decks to be used at once Also it might be helpful to see an example of the character used in a phrase or sentence in Chinese                 Does it and does it well
Does a great job                 Great app
This is a good app and it does help me learn to read and remember the characters I just wish that they would have multiple words characters together and example sentences so you can understand how to use the character              Good app
很好用                 Very good study tool
Truly a great appthis is really improving my vocabulary Thanks                 Very nice
I like the options of choosing how many to study from I think when choosing which decks each character should have the meaning next to it so you can study that way as well Or just have an option that isnt multiple choice just a click to reveal what the character means Im happy with 5000 characters Good color scheme Glad I bought it To be a 5 star give more ways to study not just multiple choice Have stroke order available Be able to click on a character and have audio of pronunciation Give example of character in a sentence Have more stats of progress Great start           Good study
Best flashcard app out there                 Great flash cards
I found this app to be disappointing There are no twocharacter characters anywhere in the app its literally 5000 single characters which isnt particularly helpful Also theres no support for traditional characters at all and no way to test yourself in the reverse For instance the app only displays chinese characters first and then has you guess pinyin and English But there is no way to test your characters by displaying the English first and having the user guess the characterpinyin This is a huge letdown The sound is a nice addition but doesnt quite make up for the rest of the apps limitations     Ehhh
Very simple and effective Good job                 I like this app
A very useful app for learning and practicing Chinese characters their meanings and pronunciation It uses an effective system of recycling cards the user has gotten wrong more frequently than the others Two small complaints The groups of twenty characters each do not seem to follow any pattern like most to least common or easy to difficult the user can work with only one group of twenty at one time              flashcard Fu
This is a very good app In fact it is the best that I have found so far for reviewing characters The system itself is very effective and the apps user interface is very friendly and slick I am really pleased with this app If the developed wanted to make this already good product even better they could include traditional characters or even organize the characters according to the HSK test levels Well worth the money for Chinese language students looking for a convenient way to review characters              Excellent Character Review Resource
This is the most useful app I have run across in learning Mandarin I could easily recommend this app to anyone at any level of learning I even have a Chinese friend using it to learn pin yin                 Excellent
It is ok They need to add an option to learn the pinyin on the flashcards you can only learn how to write it on the flashcards           Ok
Impressive little app which even though Ive been im china for 19 years now I still find a good review tool              Well done
There are no multi character words It would be more helpful to learn 右边 together instead of right and location Also the character 他 is him not him he she her the character for she her is 她 An option to turn off multiple choice would be a huge plus and allow me to go back a card if I get the english translation wrong I think I will stick with Inzanias product that can connect to my Anki flashcards        Has potential but
Love most everything about this app Yes seeing the answer in multiple choice might be annoying but it reinforces the correct tone for me as I know the first 2000 in cantonse pinyin My question is why are ing finals pronounced with an o sound Can they be said either way Which is more mainstream              Very useful
Today I received an email from Daniel Cota the app developer confirming that he has no plans to continue development of this app and hasin fact abandoned it He noted that there are many other flashcard apps available and suggests that I will find another one that I will like I had really liked the app especially making my own cards and being able to download card files that matched up to the textbooks I use However the sever is down and so there is no longer access to download or upload functions I lost access to the files I made and access to helpful files others had made I regret investing money but more so the time I spent customizing the app for my personal use     No further support
If your objective is to build Hanyu vocabulary this app is it Very intuitive well paced study aid                 Exactly What I Needed
My main problem with this app is there is no sound to tell your brain you made a correct or incorrect choice For example other flashcard programs usually have a ding sound or a buzz sound when an a correct or incorrect choice is made Also after making a choice the flash card immedietly switches to the next one without even a one second pause In addition there is no way of knowing how many cards you got correct or incorrect for each session just a graph of characters you mastered but this graph doesnt seem to be accurate There are dozens of characters I have gotten correct over 5 times in a row but it is still showing I mastered only 2 characters I love that you can download decks other people have created and that the 5000 characters have accompanying audio I also like that the decks are organized according to frequency Overall this is worth the 299 but I will be searching for a better flash card app because while good this one is still lacking           A decent app but far from perfect
1 the website you need to access no longer exists 2 the cards dont have English translations when you flip them     DONT BUY THIS APP
Its a perfect program again thanks to the font options I have almost cleared 4000 characters since this came out less than a year ago That doesnt mean I know them perfectly but its a great start and shows how powerful this system is People shouldnt complain that it doesnt support bigrams that would make a great program too but its not the same purpose as memorizing Hanzi individually                 back to perfect
I have made much more progress with this than with other programs that dont have the pronunciation feature It adds one more hook to remember by and there were a few words I learned Id been mispronouncing The card sets that come with it correspond to the most common words so was easy to incorporate into my other study materials                 Helpful to hear the words are pronounced
The basic flashcards are fine although some of the definitions are a bit suspect However the reason that I purchased this app as opposed to others was due to the stated potential to create custom flash cards I find this component of the app completely deficient When I emailed Daniel Cota for guidance presuming that I had not understood a basic concept of the customization I received a standard uninspiring response which quoted the website However surprisingly Daniel followed up to check on me and worked with me until I was able to use the app as intended He completely changed my perspective of the app due to his perseverance which is awesome So if you have a question just email him he can and WILL assist you              Upgrade in Rating due to customer service
Excellent study tool                 Awesome
this is simplified Chinese some of the characters look very different than traditional Mandarin           Simplified
Crap Just when Id decided that this app was just what I needed the server and website arent responding If youre thinking about downloading this and the rating is at 1 stardont If its at 5 stars the server is back A great great app otherwise     Server Down
This is by far the best app I have ever downloaded Its system of logic that brings up the characters you need to study the most is ingenious really brilliant The layout is simple the characters are extensive the definitions are exactly on pulled directly from the right dictionary Customer service is wonderful I also emailed the author and he made changes that I recommended Has spoton pronunciation and a great way to go back and see what characters you need to work on with the lighter colors of green I love green If you are learning Mandarin Characters you NEED this app Cant recommend highly enough PERFECT 10 AlthoughI also liked the original font so Daniel if you are listening revert back Thanks Daniel                 Best Chinese Flashcard App
Good to review Hard to learn with           Not bad
Excellent work on this app                 App review
There really should be a traditional character option as many other flashcards have Pretty useless for people learning Chinese in Taiwan           Traditional Characters
Very useful for reviewing basic characters              Excellent
Im not in love with this app yet Great concept I love how well they have broken down cards for the HSK etc I also love that I can add online my own cards to the deck What I would LOVE to be able to do is add EXISTING CARDS from other decks to my deck My ideal use of this app would be to follow along with my classwork a little easier but it takes FOREVER to manually input my cards              Pretty good
Chinese is not a phonetic language So the primary way to learn Chinese is through memorization Flash cards have problems because they dont change as you learn I have found that learning the Chinese characters BEFORE you try to learn to speak the language is extremely helpful because when i find myself immersed in a Chinese location I am constantly identifying the Chinese characters and saying them Then I start noticing them together and sentences start to form There isnt the same kind of grammar as in English no conjugation no past or present just how the characters are put together In my opinion this is the best way to learn Chinese                 I love this method to learn Chinese
The app is a great app but the technical support is non existent I had a test that I had to study for and needed to download my custom decks The app kept saying it couldnt connect to the network This went on for a day and a half I emailed the company about the problem still havent heard back from them So dont make my mistake and count on the app to always working           Tech support non existent
