Roomie Remote with TV Listings, TiVo, Roku, and A/V Receiver Control Roomie controls your home entertainment devices from your iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Roomie is a universal remote supporting thousands of devices - many via ...
The app is still the best DIY universal remote and automation app The licensing is still confusing but there isnt any better solution out there The addition of AppleTV IP support and native keyboard is awesome                 Great updates
This amazing app tamed my complicated AV system It is frequently updated with cool new features for example opening the panel for my Apple TV now opens an additional panel that list all the media on my iMac Another example my Yamaha receiver has Pandora and I configured a Pandora activity that lets me browse channels and view album art To really make good use of this app you must buy the yearly subscription service which includes complete cable TV listings I dont begrudge the developers there is no way they could provide their level if support and updates with only one time purchase fees The website finally added several users guides Roomie still requires some thought to set up but if you like tinkering with your AV setup it will be fun                 For obsessives by obsessives
Having spent tons of time and money on various lesser solutions Ive settled on Roomie because of its ease of use huge library of supported devices and incredible technical support Yes it costs a bit of money and requires some AV knowledge but its cheaper and way more powerful than other solutions that Ive tried The icing on the cake is the Apple Watch app that they recently released By far its the most useful app that Ive used on the watch so far Keep up the awesome work                 Unparalleled home theater control
Save 10 dont buy it Smart TVs do not show up     Trash
Clearly these guys are focused on the backend The ux leaves too much to be desired for this to be something enjoyable to use Setting up custom remotes for their extensions have incredibly limiting design options Horrible remote skins convoluted setup screens Roomie should really put more priority on hiring a great ux designer to bring this up to 2015 standards     Great app design if youre in 1994
Bought this app Didnt know everything had to be connected to the Internet Nothing worked period Waste of 10 Want my money back     No
I use it everyday and have set it up in two different rooms and it always works GREAT love using my watch to control my systemlooking forward to more updates to come Thanks for a great design                 Great IOS and Apple Watch App
Good potential but lacks in a variety of ways especially when trying to control a Vizio Sound Bar           Lacking
Dont care for the newer versions and lost my guide I paid extra for Gave it another try and hate now Deleted from my iPad        Works well easy to setup
Why are you requiring an extra fee for use of the watch app Its just an extension of the phone No reason to charge more for this Its not adding anything to the mix Very disappointing        Watch requires Roomie Service
Roomie seemed so promising 2 years ago when I bought it In the time since it seems to still be the best iOS remote software around which isnt saying much as the competition is basically nonexistent Roomie now requires a subscription to guide data which I can understand but just adds pain to an already expensive solution Good thing I ditched cable and no longer need this The UI can only be described as mediocre It does the job for sure but is lacking a cohesive and simple design The iOS 6 refresh did little to address the issues Navigation and setup in this app is confusing and makes no sense The back button takes you to different parts of the app depending how you got there Finding the setup and configuration of devices is a frustrating experience And overall the use of screen space is very poor Sometimes I wonder if the same engineers that designed my cruddy receiver remote with a thousand buttons all shapes the same size designed this app Steve Jobs would likely have had a seizure if he had tried to use it Alas Roomie is the best app out there so get it if you are dying to have a remote control on your phone that can control multiple ir blasters at once with decent macro capabilities But if you are looking for the wife friendly solution this is not it sadly        So so iOS remote software
After spending a ton of money on other options Roomie turned out to be the best solution out I love the proximity feature auto changes the room as I enter Runs every device via network or Global Cache All I can say it just works                 Best App Out There
Dont waste your money and more importantly your time Yuck     Confusing and cumbersome
Do not purchase this does not work I would give this a4 stars just burned 1000 and will not get it back I which Apple would have more control over the apps they sell     Junk
This app is truly amazing With the ability to control IP devices and IR devices the dream of having a single control point for your systems is a reality As Connected Home Technology becomes ever more prevalent this app lets you control all that for the way you live The flexibility and extensibility of the app is its power Beyond the obvious of eliminating the need from multiple audiovisual remotes clustered around your coffee table connecting in platforms like Sonos Insteon Lighting Hunter Douglas allows you to create a user experience through a single pane of glass that reflects your lifestyle With the ability to learn IR codes for devices not in its databases the possibilities extend even further I did that with an electronic fireplace With the single button push imagine turning down the lights closing the shades lighting the fireplace getting the AV system up and running with all the proper inputs and volume set and perhaps jumping right to your favorite channel Again truly amazing piece of software and thank you to the developers for delivering it to the market                 5 stars Great app
With so many different remote control AV products in the house Roku Apple TV etc its become impossible to control them all with one interface Until now Ive tried so many products including the expensive Logitech Harmony products But nothing did it all until I got Roomie Even with additional licenses there is no other product on the market that does it so simply for such a low cost Awesome job                 The Best
This app was the missing link to tie all my home automation together Love it                 Awesome app
3 device max or pony up another 20 bucks        theres a catch
Dont buy this for WATCH Listed at 10 the price is already high But when you add in that WATCH support is only available with an in app subscription its robbery This app is pretty much useless at the initial 10 price It would be one thing if it were free and you had to pay for things in the app DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP or at least consider it a 50 app not a 10 one     Dont Buy for WATCH
If you are a techie or have several pieces of AV equipment dont use it I paid for a subscription then you have to pay before you can even see if it will find the device and control it Dont waste your valuable time and money Look further     Anything over 2 devices costs more
Great great product You can pay a home automationtheatre company thousands maybe 100s of thousands or purchase Roomie and its addons and frankly end up with just as good or better control of your home Keep up the great work guys                 50k or Roomie
For no good reason this app developer is greedily preventing the use of the apple watch companion app unless you buy a subscription Otherwise Id give it five stars     Deceptive Need subscription to use watch app
You can tell all of the positive reviews are from employees of the design team lol This app is a hook in the jaw for more expensive products Dont be fooled like I was     Hahaha
No phone support despite being the most complex consumer technology I have ever purchased The system is too complex for my spouse and kids to use And when I try to make it simpler Roomie relegates me to submit a written ticket which they only respond to in writing taking their sweet time Customercentric companies offer a choice of support channels Roomie Support employs live humans and those humans own phones But Roomie in the ultimate demonstration of self centered cost savings wont give out a phone number and wont EVER call me despite nine months of begging within my most frustrating written support ticket nightmares     Written in hopes that Roomie will evolve their support
I have been so irritated with the difficulty in reprogramming a Universal Remote MX 8800 Then I found Roomie Not only is it so much more functional so much easier to use and so much more versatile in programming capability it also allowed me to dump all of the equipment and wires I had for infrared and RF I cant say enough about how great this product is and their support has been stellar I did have some frustration around not having a users guide so I had to experiment a bit The support team sent me a beta version of the get started guide They need to get this out asap But whatever extra effort I had to put in to understand the functionality was worth it a thousand times over                 Fabulous
very complicated to configure Documentation provided is awful There is no telephone support only email or user forums Even if your device is on the supported list it may not work For such an expensive app this is a big ripoff Now you have been warned Buyer beware     Horrible setup documentation and worst support ever
Not worth the price Gets you to download then 10 for actual usage     Useless
This is not a simple app to set up It will let you do a lot if you are patient and willing to read some of the post A few time I found my self emailing tech support they were quick to answer In the end I set a custom remote with unique icons You do need to search for the icons But very adaptable The cost is not bad actually a bit cheap if you compare it to top universal programable remotes                 Overall a top app
I have download hundreds of apps over the year and I have never been so annoyed Not only the app is badly designed it disingenuously telling you that it works with apple watch but requires an additional subscription For Sonos it counts every speaker as a device another 1999 Shocking     Total ripoff Avoid Asking for refund
Not sure why this app gets so many good reviews It is a bewildering collection of functions that only works with the most basic of devices Even when listed in their compatibility list such as my Onkyo TXNR818 a device probably wont work with this app Save your money and get a real universal remote     Doesnt Work
I havent touched a remote in a year Love it                 Amazing remote
I wanted a master remote control for my house WeMo and Hue and Sonos and iTunes oh my I looked at some physical remotes that were 200500 and didnt support all the devices I wanted Then I found Roomie Theres a vast array of device support and some really cool opportunities for automation With one button I change the lights music HVAC and fans and even turn on an aromatherapy diffuser My apartment is now a jungle Great fun While it seems expensive compare it to something from Logitech and it does the same or more for much less Although I warn you I bought the iPad app first then I wanted the service then the iPhone app might as well get the desktop agent now Im spending four hours crafting remotes and automations Roomie rocks                 awesome doesnt come cheap
Amazing that it can handle all the possible system permutations so adroitly I have a complex set up a mix of old and new equipment and Roomie makes it work like they were a single unit Installed it on an IPad mini and its the ideal failproof remote I mean its been installed for over a year through various updates and it just works flawlessly Oh and tech support listens and answers your emails                 Just a great remote
First off let me say the support staff is absolutely fantastic Before I had three remotes four different apps and now its all consolidated into one app The blaster is a bit pricey But if you dont like clutter this thing is for you                 The last remote youll every need
Listen Ive owned played with programmed expensive remotes URC High End Harmony iRule etc This is an intuitive and easy setup that allows you to setup all your av stuff with the LEAST bit of headache If you think this is tough then you havent played with the other options out there The user interface is excellent and just right The wife loves it and thats what matter for all in the end Trust me this is the simplest and best app Simple but very very powerful There is incredible thought that went into making this Read the forums and guide before you start Get it                 A Must Have dont believe negative reviews
Update Nothing works on the AppleWatch with the new update Now I cant even turn the TV off with iPhone app or AppleWatch I have a Bravia XBR49X850B Tv and when I try to select the input from my Apple watch nothing happens Change this and I will update my review to 5 stars Update The app is so buggy on my apple watch Currently I can only use the app to turn the tv on and off none of the other features work It is not worth renewing my subscription again till all the features work Update With the latest update the input issue has been fixed for the Apple watch The app works well as long as it remains opened Closing the app close completely and reopening it in the Apple watch I am stuck with the Living Room screen Nothing else shows Uninstalling and reinstalling the app fixes the issue till you close the app on the Apple watch again After you close the app it will never work again     Apple watch cant select Input Sony tv
Great features Great app Lots of different options and customizations available                 Great app great features
Best universal remote system around Make sure you take the time to set it up well The remote creation is pretty intuitive Much better than any Logitech remote Ive used even the top of the line models You will spend around 200 to get this set up but its a bargain compared to 400 Logitech remotes or custom remotes which start around 800 If you want to get rid of the dozen or so remotes lying around the room then this is the best option              Great remote system
This would be a fivestar app if the technical support people were helpful or at least kind in their interactions with their customers You almost get the feeling they actually hate their customers If you are a seasoned AV person who is willing to risk paying for all these additional and reoccurring addons then this is an excellent app It is by far the best in the market but it is not without some quirks If you have multiple users in the home trying to control identical devices it doesnt like that For a bachelor or singleuser it is absolutely amazing once you figure out how to get it set up           Great app for advanced AV users tech support are JERKS
This is definitely an app that I use everyday Keep up the good work guys                 I use it everday
This type of system literally costs thousands of dollars and requires professional installation with Savant Control 4 or Crestron Roomie costs 10 plus 20 for 10device packs and 17yr for the guide service Even with the 100 Blaster for old IR controlled gear Roomie is a fraction the cost of competing systems The biggest value for me is the guide service Seeing what is on TV without blocking the picture is very useful Once you have guides you can not live without it I dont think guides are even an option with most of the big buck systems My family loves Roomie                 Whole home control
Have used Roomie for 3 years now Had a working system in minutes and have migrated to mostly IP controlled devices over time but use the adapters for some things and they work well Roomies gesture interface is so nice and didnt require any complex programming In addition to the remote it has a great TV guide Have spent a lot on remotes over the years and Im totally settled on this solution that I can maintain will keep up with changes and use throughout the house The guides for AppleTV Sonos and others makes this app its own category AppleTV IP Control is amazing                 Impressive number of supported devices
I did my research and found 2 solutions that would work for me Roomie and iRule Ive got both setup and decided to go with a Roomie Mainly due to the better hardware Roomie Blaster and ability to sync between iOS devices like if I start watch a movie activity and my wife will open Roomie on her phone her remote will show Watch a movie as well Roomie Agent app for OS X is needed for seamless synchronization though Few other points Roomie supports IP control for more devices like Apple TV Roomie remotes are easily editable on the iOS device itself etc I had no problem setting up the remote control solution for my Onkyo receiver Panasonic Blu Ray player Epson projector Apple TV and Xbox 360 everything works just great A few cons Roomie solution is fairly expensive around 160 to get going in my case I really wish Roomie blaster would do IR and Serial simultaneously so I wont need another one for Serial controlled gear Roomie service is another thing I agree that if application uses its own cloud service like for TV guide or backup its fair to charge for that But charging an annual fee just for the apple watch app and ability to use older iTach devices that cant be fair                 Great remote app
Good app if your a network engineer If your not very tech savvy you will hate it Forget about any tech support there is none Tech support responds to nothing Ive heard them called jerks but I cant say thats the case because I have had no contact with them They do not even respond to simple straightforward yes or no questions The app is good at what it does but not everyone will be able to figure out how to use it And buy the way I paid for this app and a subscription so stop with the pop up adds to rate Roomie Heres your rating I stand corrected tech support will respond during a trial period after that forget it     No Such Thing As Tech Support
It only lets you connect with 3 devices without paying in addition to the app purchase price and then wants you to pay an additional 20 for a few more devices It also wants you to pay a monthlyyearly subscription 2month 17year for many features And you need to buy a 109 IR blaster to control most devices including some internet connected smart TVs such as mine Soon you could be paying 150 for a slight convenience Not worth that price in my opinion           Ok much too expensive
Cant control IR devices     Doesnt Work
This app supports so many devices and is very capable I stopped using my universal remote and use this instead                 Very Capable
They must be paying people to give good reviews in my opinion This app is very misleading and just doesnt work as advertised It doesnt control my Samsung TV or my Onkyo properly Although I was told they would be updating the app to control my Samsung months ago it still hasnt happened Sometimes it lets me control the volume other times it doesnt work I also cant turn the TV or receiver on or off with these remote app I tried contacting the support contact and the person I spoke with was absolutely no help Save yourself the money because youll still need your different remotes I This has been a frustrating experience        Needs A Lot of WorkM
Ive got a Samsung Smart TV LED 48 UN48H6350 and while the app recognized the TV and the TV asked to input the pin to connect the Roomie app couldnt make the TV do anything Spent 10 for a failed test     Did not work on Samsung TV
Setup is next to impossible Watch app is useless Wouldnt use it even if it was free Let along 10 They need to pull this app and issue refunds     Awful app
