There has to be a zoom in option where you pinch with your fingers and pull to zoom in or push to zoom out There has to be color and layer options and more kinds of pencils     Not Worth It AnonymousCreep

I like this app I think it has tons of potential The app has a good feel for how the brush would react with a finger but if I want to use the Apple Pencil it starts to break down When learning Shodou from a master how fast you go as well as pressure make a big difference in each specific stroke For instance the app does not do a good job on the migibarai stroke either pencil or finger The migibarai stroke even has several variations depending on its position in the kanji character If the creators were to give more precise control of pressure and tip control as if to act that the Apple Pencil was a Shodou brush this app would excel to excellence                 Good but not updated Xiquid

I had this app for years on my iPhone 4S playing with it now and then I don t know if there s been an update but once I started playing with it on the iPhone 6S plus it just seemed to open up for me The subtleties of brush strokes are wonderful By layering and changing speed and width and using the erasers as brushes the possibilities are brilliant I dislike the more gimmicky paper choices but would like to see more serious ones I have mixed feelings about the single step undo I don t mind the lack of color choice Just as is this app allows and encourages exceptional creativity I would like to see the option to save and reopen drawings                     Gorgeous AndyAfterwords

The App crashes instantaneously as I select Wacom as my pen I dumped my previous installation and re downloaded the App That did not help at all The App will run as long as I don t attempt to assign the pen     5 stars when it works again GraPhXLight

I love this app and I recommend it to anyone who wants to do abstract or real life based drawings I can even make a cool picture with a few brush strokes It also makes for cool stickmen                     This app is amazing LadyObug2005

This app really lives up to its name You learn more than drawing skills with this app You learn how to make your strokes matter You have only very limited options in stroke thickness color and undo levels To create something every stroke must be planned and intentional To complete an image with no undo s is truly Zen I haven t done it yet                     It is Zen Gitarzz

I would pay top dollar for a note taking app with the writing smoothness of Zen Brush It is the best stylus sensitive app I ve used No sharp or irregular lines Just smooth strokes that makes each letter look very natural                     SO SMOOTH Yasiris

Update I have been using this app for over four years and still love it Simple and elegant I use this app for sketching and final art but what continues to plague this app is that THERE IS ONLY 1 undo STILL after all these years I can only assume that either the developers are too lazy to change it or stick to their principles of getting it right the first time My suggestion is that at any point you can save your sketch in Photos and then continue working on it I also sometime import the Zen Brush sketch into another program BlurFx that will allow me to blur portions and create a watercolor soft edge Zen Brush is an awesome app The brush is very responsive to pressure I used it on my iPhone 4S had it on my iPod Touch and now on the iPhone 6 It is a treat on my iPad My only gripes the limitation of the screen resolution you can t zoom in or out on a larger canvas and there is no opacity but the advanced multi pass erase is a good compromise But otherwise an awesome app Tools are much more responsive than Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile which don t change width with pressure SUGGESTIONS TO APP CREATORS multiple UNDO s would be great                     UPDATED REVIEW Very responsive brush ROC-889

I like this app bc I can save progressive drawings to my Photos so that each image builds on the previous I have an entire forest growing The only thing I would recommend from this experience is the capability to make a flip book or slideshow As a meditative art form this is obviously different than an actual brush but how many times do I I have a brush when out of the house                     Thinking Art Ihrkelings

I have several drawing and painting apps This one however is quite unique in the way the ink flows based on the acceleration of the stroke even after you ve lifted your hand I had this for years on various iPads glad to see it on iPhone now iP6 plus I always end up coming up with something unique and interesting every time Love it                     Love the way the paint flows smoothly Finally on iPhone RiVoLT

This app looks and feels good at first glance but it crashes constantly I ve been trying to finish a drawing but I couldn t The app suddenly closes and you loose all your artwork I am using an Intuos Creative 2 Stylus pen that is supposedly compatible and supported by the app but it doesn t work smoothly I do not recommend this app     App keep crashing Rahesan

Writing this review to let prospective buyers know the app is worth the cost purely on the brilliant work the dev has done on creating a great simulation in terms of using an ink brush on a digital medium on iOS This will stand out against many similar art apps and therefore makes the app a joy to use and play with Well worth the price It also includes several backgrounds and a bare bones set up to allow you to concentrate on sketching vs troubling over too many options However although there is a purposeful intent here to keep it simple and elegant I do think some basic additions are in need here 1 please allow zooming in of canvas to sketch in finer detail 2 if you will let users save the artwork as a photo it would only make sense and be great if users could upload a photo to sketch on I think this would be a favorite feature for many if added 3 needless to say limited color options and only one step in undo redo is quite limited but if you must keep it so simple please consider allowing taskbar to auto hide to maximize workspace especially on the iPhone Still a great app and really great price for it while on promotion                 Bang up job excellent simulation -MZK-

This app provides a variety of paper backgrounds option to vary the brush size from very large to very small has three values of ink and two erasers which like the brush you can also shrink or enlarge With nearly all the backgrounds there is only the choice of black grey ink but a few of them have a single different ink such as gold or white The effect is that it encourages the artist to work bold reminiscent of work done with a digital Asian brush Some artists have done impressive and interesting work with this app One of my favorites for what it s worth                     Elegantly simple app yobnhoj

Strangely this app is better on non Retina devices than on Retina devices because the paper has a rougher more visible texture Developers please consider giving the paper a rougher texture on Retina devices too             Needs rougher paper 雁庵

This isn t a typical drawing app It works best when you use minimal brush strokes hence the zen moniker The brush is expressive and gives a varied line weight and the limited color palette basically begs for you to minimize The colors are additive each time you draw over the same area it gets darker like drawing with a traditional pen I m using this app to make quick observational sketches The simplicity of the app is forcing me to use minimal lines and make critical decisions As a result I m making crisper more expressive drawings                     Simple and Perfect Ppinda

Zen Brush offers what is the best implementation I have ever seen of painting with a Japanese brush that I have ever encountered on any platform It is simply superb Unfortunately the package has one fatal flaw While you can save your images you can not load them back in so you continue to work on them at a later point I am baffled and quite frustrated by the omission of such a basic feature which to some may render a otherwise brilliant paint package useless             Brilliant but flawed Alan Smithee, Jr

This app is excellent for drawing with the feel of Rembrandt ink drawings and of course Chinese landscape I wish the washes with a bigger brush size could be done drier working with the paper texture and the addition of another increment of grey but overall this app is my favorite for drawing Works really well with Jot Touch 4                     Great dadateyont

I use this to practice my Chinese calligraphy A purist would complain it s not the same as the real thing but it sure is a lot easier than hauling out the brushes pouring the ink folding the paper etc To say nothing of having to hike downtown to Chinatown to buy the supplies I use Zen Brush on the train with a brush stylus and it does a good job of mimicking real calligraphy right down to the ink bleed Highly recommended                     Good for Chinese calligraphy dame wang

I tried this out with the new Jot Touch Pro Zen Brushes does a great job of supporting Palm Recognition with the Jot I would like to be able to save drawing to a gallery or iCloud Also it needs the ability to zoom in It would be nice to change colors of the ink also Otherwise really good feedback in their tools I would love for them to do a full drawing app                 Works well with the Jot Touch chiggins68

This is probably my favorite app overall I use it all the time to use my iPad as a sketch pad The way the ink flows onto the screen is amazing The lines and strokes flow like real ink applied by a brush I wish this app had different colored inks I wouldn t even need most of my other drawing apps I highly recommend this app especially if you are an illustrator                 My favorite drawing app Eskaaay

This is a first rate app I keep coming back to this one even while I also use more sophisticated art ones like Art Studio or Art Rage I especially like the responsiveness to your finger touch and the ink quality It s quick very intuitive and simple to use Overall it s perhaps the most pleasing app I use Yes there could be some useful improvements such as being able to alter the size of the canvas and store pictures where you could come back to work on them and and Nevertheless I am delighted with it and feel much gratitude for it                     Excellent Way of the lotus

This would be an amazing app if you could pinch to zoom in on the image It would make doing fine details possible Without a true fine tipped stylus this is an essential feature for art related iOS apps I think the Pogo Connect pressure settings should also be reversed Right now heavier pressure thinner lines This is the opposite of true brush behavior Makes pressure sensitive styluses rather useless in my opinion         Pinch to zoom Pogo Connect Goosekeeper
