Ipad Version of our Foraging App
The apps has abundant delicious recipe There is also a tab to take our own notes which make it easy to use The pictures are beautiful and colorful which help me remember the actual plants In a word i would say this apps is fantastic for both beginner and professional chef Yuki Itoh disclosure i am a professional vegetarian chef and instructor in Japan I joined Steves wild edible plant in May 2013 when i met Steve the first time                 Very useful
Ive been waiting for an app like this As someone who has always been interested in foraging but uneasy about it this app removes all my doubts Easy to follow with multiple pictures and more recipes and great anecdotes Im truly amazed at all the info it contains Ill be ready for the zombie apocalypse                 Thx Wildman
The Photos are very good and the descriptions are clear this Application is worth having as a resource especially for positive identification I always use several resources and make sure of positive identification before eating any plant The app is in its infancy and is evolving Im sure it will have many more frills in the future however Im glad to have it in my arsenal especially with the economy going down the tube I hope I dont have to depend on living off the land but like having the information on hand just in case              Excellent addition to your library
I absolutely love this app Soooo much useful information plus beautiful photos and artwork It is especially useful if you go on a foraging tour with the Wildman himself you can look at the pictures as he talks about each plants identifying features I also love all the unique and creative wild food recipes I have many books on foraging and wild foods but this app is my goto first choice reference Thanks Wildman Steve                 Fun and exciting app
I liked this so much on my phone that I am buying the version for the iPad mini great resource for naturalists and wild foods enthusiasts Steve Brill is a trusted source of information and the app is laid out in a very useful way great pics great info Anyone in the NYC area who can join one of his walks should do so fantastic experience                 Great resource for naturalists
A rather extensive digital collection of useful information obtained from over 30 years of handson experience Wild Edibles with Wildman Steve Brill is by far the best application of its kind available to date Wild Edibles includes numerous photos of plants fruit in various stages of development in addition to detailed drawings descriptions and tutorials related to uses of such The app also details poisonous lookalikes and plants to avoid essential information for any wild food adventurer Steve Brills Wild Edibles is incredibly useful comprehensive enjoyable to use and an absolute MUST HAVE for anyone interested in wild food foraging whether as a hobbyist educator or survivalist                 Absolutely BRILLiant
The good over 100 different species Some are found in our back yard or the city park There are many recipes included and helpful tips for plant identification and harvesting Future updates are promised I hope additional species are added with quality photos The bad around 25 of the pictures are blurry or out of focus and hurt my eyes Its a shame because quality pictures help users to safely identify plants Fortunately most plant species have multiple pictures with at least one or two good pictures included Also this app could be priced lower           Good
Steve Brills Wild Foods App is the most comprehensive App for identifying and using wild foods I love that for each plant there are identification keys and information that helps differentiate the plant from similarlooking plants There has been many new plants added since I started using the App Also there is now medicinal information and recipes If you want an App from one of the most respected wild foods teachers this is the way to go                 Best Wild Foods App
First I want to say that I am extremely thankful that Steve Wildman Brill has brought this information together for us to view on the iPad Having said that it would be nice to see this app use the guidesign layout that Leaf Snap uses Not a competing product This would make access to all of the wonderful information provided all that much easier to get to 1 When you select Browse you would have access to a The full list of edibles on the left side with the first edible already selected b The main image would be in the background c with all the supporting images to the right 2 As with Leaf Snap again not competing product you can tap once to make the full list edibles in the case of this app disappear to focus on what is selected b You could tap once more to have the supporting images on the right go away c Tap again brings it all back 3 All of the info for that edible would be accessible through the icon at the top right ie Book icon on Leaf Snap All of this would make the wealth of information available not feel cumbersome to get to No turning pages and very quick navigation 4 One could still access poisonousedible filter from the top Right now the actual design makes it harder to get into unless you are just there and having to look up something This way you can browse and learn for fun without feeling lost and clicking back all the time note As one user mentioned there appear to be some small bugs in the current version The filter does not appear to show all the poisonous plants that are in the app I have written and suggested this to Steve and he was very kind and considerate about this request Hopefully his designprogramming team will be able to implement something like this                 Cool info a design update would be nice
Using it all the time to identify wild edibles I have growing at home                 Awesome app
If you live in NY or the vicinity and you havent gone foraging with Wildman Steve Brill you are really missing out He is an expert and very entertaining This app allows you to enjoy the tour the edibles and nature then you can go home and figure out whats in your bag and what to do with it No need to take notes in the field Its also nice to just browse the app and appreciate all the wild edibles growing right under our feet                 Excellent resource
There are not many apps in this field so its hard to compare it to any othersits the best when compared to other iTunes wild edible apps but thats not saying muchshould be more pics more pics and more picswe need to see as many photos as we can even if some are downloaded and some we have to be linked to a websitesome of the edibles only have 1 pics and quite a few have only 2 picsI would also like to see some videos from Steve brilldude you are a genius and you have made wild edibles fun and you have made this hobby into something that we can do with the families you do a great job in making it easy or easier than normalbut again if I am taking my kids on a nature hike in the hills I want to teach them the correct plant and not have any doubts that I am teaching them correctlythis app does not reassure me of all plantsI would love to see some small stage growth of jewel weed yet you show a big plant and some flower pics up closenot bad but not great either It would also be nice to have the ability to write notes and add my own pics to each category of plant For instance if I run across some garlic mustard it would be nice for me if I could add some photos under your photoskind of like a journal per say Steve Brill is on the right track with this app and I trust him over any other Internet site or bookI just wish this app and the iPhone app were better with picsI would gladly pay 20 for this app if it had numerous pics for each planta good field guide book is 20 so having it on the iPad would be awesome           Not bad but not great
Being straight forward nice app I like the style function and info I cant write in the notes section just nothing comes up Big bummer And developer u really should fill in the caution tab what is cautious about the plant You state plant has poisonous parts and u say what parts to forage well how about mentioning what parts are poisonous and putting that in the caution tab which is almost always empty And fix the personal notes part I will check soon for an update for more plants and revisions and I will gladly rate five stars        Hmmmmm
Good sized pics recipes and tons of info ataglance Worth downloading                 Great App
Wildman Steve Brill covers all the bases in this wild edibles app Not only how to identify the proper plant but where confusion similar plant might occur and how to avoid the confusion There are tips on how and when to harvest the edible parts of the plant in question and even recipes The several photos drawings of each plant are for the most part very helpful though occasionally a close up leaves room for improvement My one complaint aside from the fact that the app is not optimized for the ipad is that all this information is separated which can be helpful if there is only one piece of information you are looking for but really needs to be integrated better to be useful At present little bits of text without an explanatory photo about how to harvest a plant say on a different page from which parts are used for food just seem to take up space and time when both and more could fit better on one page without trouble and be both helpful and be more aesthetically pleasing Nevertheless as a longtime amateur field botanist i went through this manual and was quite pleased with the choices Brill has made and his knowledge of the field Looking forward to app updates and further additions to the guide                 Brills foraging app is topnotch
Fabulous app for plant identification with beautiful art and wonderful recipes                 Love this app
Nice app with lots of promise but it crashes every time I use it Also only 4 plants come up when I filter for poisonous plants which I think is a bug since skunk cabbage is listed as a poisonous lookalike to bitter dock and has pictures to look at but doesnt come up when looking for poisonous plants directly Not sure how many other poisonous plants are similarly hidden which is maybe not as safe as one would like or what other glitches the search function and possibly other functions has Ive only been using it for one day so this isnt comprehensive either positively or negatively but I thought it was important to share this issue immediately since it might be safer when rectified           Cool but crashy
This app is fantastic We use it whenever we hike My kids have learned so much about identify poisonous or edible plants There are even recipes for the edibles that you forage Its just great fun                 Great for identifying edibles in the wild
This app is a great tool to have if your just starting to forage This knowledge of wild edible plants that has been passed down from generation to generation would have surely been lost if it werent for people like Steve Brill Keep up the good work                 Learn to Forage
Lots of useful information and easy to navigate                 Fun app
I love using this app If you enjoy nature and the outdoors then this one is for you Very informative and entertaining A keeper for sure Thanks Steve                 Very Cool App
This app has a wealth of knowledge and should prove to be very useful as I start foraging Im happy to support an activity that promotes localsustainable loving If you have an interest in discovering the abundance of wild foods out there then this app is for you                 Great resource
Great to have while Im out foraginglooking forward to updates                 Great App
