Today’s Paper from The Austin American-Statesman

It didnt work well before You had to logon repeatedly to get through one edition After downloading the update I cannot log on at all so now it is useless     Useless after update

Have tried all the fixes suggested including deleting app restarting iPad and reinstalling app Keeps saying cannot connect to server but no issues with other apps or Safari Also be aware if you are long time subscriber to digital access Looks like price per month has dropped but they do not automatically extend savings to current subscribers Looks like I need to callgrr     Can no longer use with iOS 8

There are many problems with this app Sometimes it refuses to show todays paper Sometimes it asks you to log in over and over The ridiculous turningpage ad thats seen right after the first page is not only annoying but sometimes gets stuck in a loop Neither the Statesman nor the app vendor Olive seem to care     Awful app

As bad as the app is the home delivery is worse We only subscribe to Sunday and digital and they cant deliver either consistently Many missed deliveries at home and IF the digital edition is available it either downloads a page or two and stops or after you actually turn each page How can the newspapers be in the machines all over town before daylight but the digital edition isnt available until midmorning if at all Maybe they should get an investigative reporter to look into why their customer service as so terrible Cant even give a whole star for any aspect of the rag     Incompetence

Updated comment May 2015 No improvement on quality of comics but that doesnt really matter when you cant even get the pages to load for days at a time Previous comment Now the messed up the comics the best thing about the online print edition If you want to read it with your nose a few inches from the screen they are readable BUT if you want to enlarge it enough to read from a reasonable distance the image quality is so poor you cant read it     Cant load pages

Good to know Im not the only one who believes this app went south Think they could find somebody in Austin to fix the problems Sad     The Worst

If i could only use the app to read the paper it would be great Its really nice when it works Which unfortunately it very rarely does It would be stellar if I could download the paper and have it ready but it never wants to load I guess they dont care about it enough to do anything as support is non existent So when the paper dies a horrible slow death this wasnt even adequate life support     Great idea in theory

Im done with the Statesman Have been a paying customer for the last 5 months and the app worked pretty well Then out of no where it stopped working It started to ask or my log in credentials though as soon as I started to enter them it kicked me out saying I needed to call the Statesman When I do call the Statesman which Ive now had to do at least 8 times in the last few weeks most times the people I get to dont know what to do They eventually get me to someone who does and Im able to log in at that moment but the next day Im locked out again Completely useless Statesman Youre THE paper in a tech town There are good software developers here Find them and get this fixed Let me know when you do and maybe Ill come back     Horrible App Canceling subscription

This app still is not very good after all of the updates and bad reviews Many time as others have said I cannot get the current days paper but get the one from the previous day I have to through a series of clearing out the cache and hoping that I get the current days edition I have talked to customer service on numerous times but they have been totally unhelpful     Still a horrible app

I like the convenience of taking my paper with me while I travel Delivery boy is often slow Biggest problem has been that when the subscription renews they want you to sign in again and dont recognize my info No link to get an idea of your password The people they suggest you call dont do apps and cant help Dont mind paying but expect to get my paper when they take my money Good grief people        Subscription lockout

I love reading the paper electronically When this app works it is a treat However almost every day it will not load the paper and shows yesterdays paper It frequently blows up and will not let you read a section Tech support says that no one else is experiencing these problems Delete app and reinstall REALLY     Terrible app

I love the format of this app It has so much functionality I cant be without it and read it every morning                 Love this app

This app is a piece of garbage Some consider this newspaper exactly the same but unfortunately its the only paper we have in Austin The app constantly asks me to login and even when I do it still doesnt take and asks me to login repeatedly Ive tried up to 10 times at different times to login it tells me its successful and yet it asks me again A phone call to support is ridiculous and a waste of time A halfasleep technician the third person I spoke to simply told me Did you try deleting the app I felt like saying Did anyone bother testing this app They have also never refunded me for papers that were never delivered to my home even though they promised me as much Just a bunch of lies from these people Ill be canceling my subscription     Horrible app horrible service

Im perfectly happy to read the newspaper on my iPad if the app would work I have experienced all the common issues Asking for password over and over only showing yesterdays new and slow downloading I had the paper home delivered until I had some major delivery issues Now after reading the statesman for over 25 years I may stop it all together because they can t get the news to their readers     Frustrating user experience

This app is a piece of crap It works about 60 of the time So its early morning coffee is ready and i want to read the paper Instead I spend 30 minutes opening and closing trying to get it to load I have never written an app review but this app is so bad i had to So Austin is this great tech town right How hard would it be to have a newspaper app that works     Worthless

Nice to use when it works Can only see the thumbnails on my iPad It just sits there when trying to load a page image The pc browser link works fine        Looks like it is broken again

Buggy unreliable frequent requests to sign in hangs up on adverts frequently required to sign out and log back in in order to read the paper very poor customer service unresponsive absolutely the worst app on my iPad     Awful Wish I could give negative stars Ie Negative 100

I really like this app a lot and I love not getting a printed newspaper My ONLY complaint is that frequently and its frequent enough to be really annoying when I click on the app I get the previous days paper Fix this and you get 5 stars from me              Overall great app but

What a wretched app For a digitally savvy city like Austin to have this as the app for its only daily paper is an embarrassment 1 As others have noted many days it is stuck on a previous day Unable to access the new days edition 2 The method outlined in help to limit the number of retained back editions is impossible to use The result Is a bloated app with using over 300 MB of storage     Beyond awful

I cannot even read the text Probably the worst app I have ever experienced and am going to now cancel my subscription with the statesman     Just god awful

This app is horrible and a crime that they charge 999month just to read the paper on my iPad I have emailed numerous times related to software issues and only recently got a response that they were trying to improve They do not listen to what the bugs really are though Very frustrated     Worst app ever

I have used this app since it was released and it has las way been a little flaky Sometimes it would not load other times the touch part wouldnt work without going back a page then returning to the original page Today it just continues to crash when I go to the comics page Very unstable I even rebooted my iPad Same result        Issues with iOS7

I enjoyed having the Statesman available on my iPad Now when I attempt to read or download the paper it shifts to Safari and asks me to login Attempting to login doesnt work Several times trying this and I just deleted the app I may try it again in the future to see if it has been corrected If not maybe Ill cancel my home delivery as well     Formerly good now terrible

Nothing will download just get a box saying loading with an empty load indicator They have another app but does not give the full content     App no longer works at all

The Olive iReader app used by the Statesman has an unreliable login screen Using a valid login that works on their website the app never completes login It sticks in an endless loop of login approval then immediate autolog out and request to relogin Very frustrating It used to work but does no more This needs some work           More convenient than the actual paperwhen it works

App has worked previously but all of sudden will not load paper pages What is going on     App will not load pages all of a sudden on IPAD

I have had some problems like others have described but mostly I find the app works fine My big ongoing complaint relates to the comics After the fiasco a few weeks back when they would simply vanish they were restored and I see them every day Unfortunately they look like they were copied on a 1970s Xerox machine then faxed to the paper to be published Doonesbury in particular is barely legible Most are just a little fuzzy        Marginally functional but still blurry comics

It really is a frustrating and unreliable app I must agree with the other negative comments     Frustrating

Often opens to yesterdays paper with no home button to get to the current edition Sometimes takes 45 minutes to show home button Inserted ads are annoying because you have to close them to get back to the paper Slight touches on the paper will undo your stretch going back to the full page A mess Ugh     Worst App Ever

Since OS7 came out this app has had problems a bit understandably but when talking with the call center they claim everything is fine Now for the last two days they cannot even get the paper to load properly Like the app when it works but have to consider going back to the paper     Getting worse not better

Today is the umpteenth time that Ive had to delete reload app because it wont open the latest issue of the paper This app is full of bugs     Awful app

This app allows subscriber an exact replica of the Statesman in full color On my iPad 2 it displays clearly and moves readily to the jumps and back Pinching enlarges well and left right arrows easily move page to page I read the morning paper every day with this app and recommend it                 Good App

At first I thought it must be my iPad but since I also subscribe to the Dallas Morning News with no technical problems Ive come to the conclusion it is this app Like many others have written I have to sign in repeatedly or load and reload yesterdays paper before I can get the current one My current aggravation are the comics when I turn the page they are there but they soon disappear all but their titles Good grief Ive just deleted the app me will reinstall it Again to see if that helps My husband reads the delivered version with none of these problems so maybe the old ways are better        So many technical issues

The app consistently loads slow Does not matter if I am at an airport or at home I have ATT Gigabite speed The app stalls during load every time I have to scroll through the half loaded pages to keep it loading Very bad     Slow

This app is good when it works but often doesnt work at all For the last three days it doesnt know who is paid and today just doesnt work It will work for a while then fail again Cant you guys hire an experienced app developer Read the other reviews     Written by preschoolers

This app is almost good but its the moments when it doest work that are infuriating About one day a week or more the app fails to bring up todays paper and remains stuck on an earlier edition Theres ZERO information method or support for fixing this u r basically screwed for that day until the app gods decide to give u the right edition later in the week When it works the app is great But it should be called todays paper sometimes Very very lame spaceman        Obamacare for News

This app has gotten better It still had some bad days when it cant find the current paper or you cant return to the apps main screen but not nearly as often as it used to I like being able to download for offline use and also doubletapping a story to bring it up in reader view so you dont have to flip pages for longer articles All in all the features are what youd expect If not for the occasional implosion this would be an easy 5star A couple of minor gripes When sharing to Facebook it would be nice to share to a persons wall instead of a general post Also when emailing a story to someonecould we ditch the preprinted text Nice article for you to read Headline check it out At least get rid of the runon sentences Overall though its great to go alldigital delivery and still have the paper laid out the way Im used to Keep working on the bug fixes              Great when it works
