I ve done some searching some purchasing I m one of those people who bought an iPad in hopes that I could save money on getting a real synth I was getting really annoyed though because I wasn t finding anything good enough I came from an Arturia Minibrute which was around 300 not to mention you need an amp This app being way less than a Minibrute does even more than the Minibrute can do It has all of the oscillators as well as polyphony Pairing Thor with a Samson Carbon 49 it s honestly the best synth solution if you are on a budget If you get a basic iPad a basic MIDI controller and the app you have a super powerful recording tool Sure it s not as professional as other gear but remember when you buy an iPad you don t only get to use your synth app You get to email web browse write it s just so much of a better solution Paired with a MIDI controller it is amazing It s not only super portable but it s super intuitive When you don t have a MIDI controller on you you can spend time making patches with the onboard keyboard There is no menu diving all the knobs are in front of you and are easy to maximize or minimize If you want to menu dive you can to unlock more that this synth has to offer This to me is even better than what you can get on OS X macOs in terms of softsynth when it comes to ease of use which as a musician is what I am looking for This can work great in both a plug in and play scenario as well as a synth you can export sequences from I m very delighted D                     Best soft synth i ve run into Theresafoguponla

I was looking for a synth with sequencer and this is it plus much more Amazing selection of oscillator types and modulation schemes I would have given it 5 stars but i found it will consistently crash when scrolling the scale pop up menus in the modulation matrix and I was unable to locate a customer user feedback form on their web site The web referenced Thor user manual was well done                 Powerful needs some UI QA DrMemory99

Thor is sonically one of the best synths on iOS it has a warmer richer sound than a lot of the other ipad synths out there I have created a lot of customized patches on this love it BUT what could be a five star app is problematic because of tempo clock issues Thor does not output at the correct BPM if you run its sequencer thus making it impossible to sync up with any other apps or recordings Even if you control Thor with external midi the arpeggiator still has the same problem of fluctuating BPM I recorded a 120 BPM arpeggio four times in a row into Auria and each time it was different ranging from between 116 and 123 BPM This is with all other apps closed Other synth apps including Figure do not have this problem For comparison I can record a 120 BPM sequence out of Thor into Auria and it will wind up being something like 118 9 BPM I can then set Gadget to 118 9 BPM though and it will record in perfect sync If Korg can figure it out surely an established company like Propellerheads can too Using an external MIDI sequencer to control Thor produces better results but you will get weird zippy things happening if you have the delay synched to external clock it just won t work right so you have to disable the delay as well Thor has had a known clock problem since it first came out the developers have had years now to fix it and they haven t I can t believe they ve let such a major flaw exist for so long Thor sounds great but they really need to tighten up the midi sync This would easily be one of the best synths on iOS             Great synth but TheDudeAbided

Great port from the Reason version The synth is so powerful that it has to be tried to be believed The modular design gives you exacting controls over the exhaustive list of parameters and there s a great mod table to combine every source with every destination including a via function The manual was also comprehensive It works with my Korg Bluetooth controller so it s wireless It can get a bit confusing in the handoff from the Oscs to the Filters and then on to the envelopes Read the manual carefully here as the arrows are helpful but this part is not quite so intuitive Overall 5 stars without even a moment of hesitation                     Incredibly intuitive and powerful kk100

There are three notable 3 oscillator synths in the store and this is one of them Cassini and Magellan are the other two The mighty Thor is extremely versatile because it covers the whole amalgam of synthesis options Thor s strong suit is the ability to call up an amazing quantity of synth power From analog FM pulse mod wavetable multi osc and noise Thor has it all Another brilliant thing is the ability to route any source to any destination just like a modular synth The filters are great and the ability to strum chords like a guitar is a plus Thor is a great app for tone obsessed folks and a great option to explore all sorts of synthesis methods Do not feel intimidated by it just have patience and it will reward you with beautiful sound                     Tough Competition in the 3 OSC Synths C3l3$t1n0

Propellerhead is best known for their dancy sounds and electronica features But as a guy doing prog rock and cinematic style sounds this works perfect for me There s so many presets I don t even have to do a ton of experimenting I just find a preset that s close to what I m looking for and start customizing it to my liking To try to keep all the sliders knobs and other controls on a single page they came up with an interesting sliding panel feature that works surprisingly well Are the sound good The sounds are amazing From the simple to the complex you ll find a lot of whatever you like in this synth                     Surprisingly I love this synth Gitarzz

It may just be me but I have experimented with a few different setups in Thor and when I create a sequence and record it into protools the tempos are not lined up 130 bpm in Thor does not equal 130 bpm in pro tools I love the synth its powerful and fun to work with maybe this is user error but I have read the manual and made sure everything was synced to tempo and find the same problem over and over again             Sequencer tempo Colby8408

Just got this last week and it s fantastic As a non reason user this is a great introduction to Propellerhead as Thor is extremely versatile This is already in my top 3 synths for the iPad along with Sunrizer and Arturia s port of the mini moog Some things that can still be improved on is the display of values when turning knobs It would be so much more user friendly if the value would appear to the side of the selected knob instead of above or below as your fingers are usually in the way Propellerhead please consider porting the Scream4 distortion unit to the iPad                 Great tool Popshaped

Thor is a juggernaut of a synth with great sounds I use this synth regularly for live performance and it s a solid tool Needs updates to MIDI functionality MIDI learn having to reselect the MIDI input every time it s opened and the ability to share patches without connecting to iTunes                     Great synth that desperately needs updates umami

I was very impressed with all of the features and modulation routings on the synth however the overall sound quality is lacking thin quiet and brittle you can make some interesting sounds with a little work but ultimately they will not cut through in a mix         many features but meh sound /:setAI

Let me first say with all due respect to the developers of this monster synth who was the genius that decided to implement a UI slider to adjust the tempo I mean really It is an unnecessary pain in the rear to get exactly the tempo desired because of someone s silly decision to use a slider with out the option for direct input This is a ridiculous oversight and means the difference between a professional or amateur design interface Developers of this app loose the sliders or at least update to allow direct input by tapping on the number desired to change The conventional way of implementing this kind of UI is to use incremental buttons or of course direct input Other than the stupid enough to to be considered doopid design choices for UI the sounds you can Create with this synth are unbeatable             What s with the sliders Poor User interface EthanGross

This legendary company who created Reason has given us the most beautiful synth that they have ever created and now it s on the iPad Air WOW Please give us your matrix sequencer next update Cause this god like modular synth with virtual connections for cables is maybe the best synth EVER And the ENTIRE state of the synth is saved within each patch as is Including the sequencer section PROPER Peace christo                     My now favorite synth on the iPad Air Aka monkey dope

This synth is very well rounded and will take you many places It actually works quite well on my iPad 1 The sequencer is awesome and can be used for modulation and triggered in fun ways You can route audio modulation through the matrix Now I only wish that the Props would PLEASE add midi learn Other cool things would be 1 Give the sequencer its own page so the gui is big enough to work with in a live setting 2 Make the sequencer polyphonic 3 Make the synth multi timbral or at least split voice Don t worry I ll upgrade my iPad 4 Recording automation would be swell 5 Randomization patch evolution would be fun But mostly midi learn Thanks                 Amazing pro synth PLEASE add midi learn cubestar

I have been using Thor for over a year regularly It is an amazing app and has become my favorite soft synth due to its lovely UI and fantastic sound Comes with many presets and there are many others that one can purchase A great synth both for those learning about subtractive synthesis as well as those who are experienced and want the flexibility and portability of a solid soft synth However the MIDI functionality is definitely sub par The primary issue reported and acknowledged by the developer is that although the controller s interface displays properly in the app the app still doesn t send data to it One must each and every time deselect and reselect the interface to use it This is too annoying of an issue to let slide for so long             Fiddly MIDI Amazing Sound and UI ayampols

As a long time Reason user I can truly say that Thor for the iPad and the features are probably the most thought out then almost any music app I have tried and or own Midi s up very well with my favorite music app SECTOR as well as others I own The idea of tweaking sounds to use with other music apps whether it s Audiobus IAA as well as exporting presets of Thor to Reason leaves endless possibilities to create music Though I m just now purchasing this app the more I use it the more I kick myself for not getting it sooner GREAT JOB PROPELLERHEADS                     A Very Strong 5 Stars For This music App myst515
