If you havent used LaTeX before this will take some getting used to And if youve been using Word for the last 40 years maybe this isnt for you If youre willing to get used to the interface its great This is especially useful for allowing contributions from multiple writers and editing mathematical equations Ive been using LaTeX for many years now and I was able to port all of my old LaTeX files over with a minimal amount of fuss                 Best Document Rendering System EVER

A laudable and robust implementation of TeXLaTeX for the iPad Well designed well executed and stable If you use TeX or LaTeX and have an iPad this app is essential                 Exceptional

I came in with low expectations for how usable this would be and whether it would have latex packages that I need It has turned out to be very helpful I give talk presentations from PDF slides generated in latex I know I know but I need the equations This app has really saved me when I needed to work on my talk on an airplane on the way to a meeting and there was no way I could use my laptop in my coach seat                 Very useful

TeX Writer is a very solid app for compiling on the run A must have for any person who loves TeXing as much as I do                 Satisfied in the South

Despite the occasional crash when generating a PDF the app does what it advertises It works well as an app where changes and additions to a document can be made while away from a desktop install of TeX The only real negative I see is navigating through a file and trying to insert text within a particular line That could take several tries and becomes annoying when in a hurry              Works well for working while mobile

Have been able to work on most classes of documents very convenient Dropbox integration even better For me well worth the money allows me to work on projects on idle time Cannot select text as you would in all other iOS applications Hold ctrl shift and an arrow to select a line Being indiscriminate this is an imperfect substitute Also does not actively keep track of each pair of delimiters as does an editor like TeXworks which is a very convenient feature when writing very longcomplex mathematical expressions              Convenient Limited

I am a math student and its so exciting that I can finally typecompilesync my TeX files all on the iPad Works super well with Dropbox compiles well never had any problems with symbols that Ive needed ie packages are either all installed or autodownloaded The interface is simple and feels exactly like what I would have expected a TeX program on the iPad to be like So useful                 My favorite app ever

Just tried this out You cannot use standard iOS means of selecting text which makes it extremely frustrating to use Furthermore TeX Writer does not support eps files which means my document does not compile So my conclusion is that TeX Writer is not for productivityoriented work but rather for basic LaTeX writing only Thats too bad as the Dropbox integration is mostly fantastic     no iOSstyle editing no EPS

I am a graduate mathematics student and I can say that this app gets the job done every time The dropbox sync makes it easy to work whenever I have some spare time without me having to worry about copying my files to my desktop at home or worry about in which version I had that great idea I typically have about 15 packages included and used in every file and there has yet to be a package that this app couldnt find and use correctly In short this is as reliable and useful as any TeX compiler youll find even for desktopslaptops                 Reliable

If youre a frequent latex writer youll know that right use of the arrow keys simplify you tons of work This app attacks this situation with a custom made keyboard for easy latex text input and navigation around the interface Also it has its own selectcopy and paste system which makes it easier to work with large documents I think apple washouts implement some of the functionalities that this app offers Great application                 The best latex app

Works well for writing short quizzes I use in class probably not for writing detailed papers since you cant to detailed editing              Great for small stuff

I have typeset a 420 page LaTeX document heavy with graphics and tables and this app iPhone 5s compiles it faster than my laptop No kidding it really does Would like to add words to the spell check dictionary Thanks for a great app                 Yep This is the one to buy

It took me very long but I found this app that let me work in Latex without the need to carry around my computer It syncs with Dropbox and gives you shortcuts for useful commands                 Very good app

It works every time even downloads esoteric packages Even after using it for several months I still do not like the goofy text selection function It might be better than the IOS standardbut any potential benefit is outweighed by the fact that no other program uses this goofy technique Please remove it or at least make it user selectable Cant wait for a standard inline autocomplete function If Tex Pad allowed spaces in file names then TexWriter would lose its status as 1 in my opinionunless you address the select function and implement autocomplete              Fully reliable and capable LaTex on IOS

I have used a few other Tex programs on my iPad and this one is so far the best one that I have used It is very easy to use and the outputs are clean However the only drawback is that it is not very intuitive when it comes to importing images and exporting files After a Google search I was able to find the answers to these questions Great app cant wait to see what else is in store              Great Program

This seems like a pretty full featured LaTeX editor The only downside is not being able use the eps image format The app directs to a converter in the app store but looking at reviews that app clearly doesnt work Overall I like it though The Dropbox integration is very useful              Pretty Great Mobile LaTeX Editor

I usually use MikTex on Windows PC This app is compatible with MikTex documents and packages so far as I experienced I can edit and compile tex files into pdf documents everywhere It automatically syncs all documents with Dropbox under the specific directory Keep seamless working on iPad iPhone and PC You can edit your documents on toilet time waiting time illness time bus time and so on You can finish your homeworkthesisdissertation on bed                 All You Need for Mobile Writing

The last version had a problem on iPads where one could not open files from TeX Writer in other apps but I emailed the developer received a reply and the problem was fixed I use LaTeX on my computer and its so convenient to have it on my iPad and iPhone 6 Plus as well It makes me so productive since I can work and make documents anywhere and any time I love how it integrates with other apps I use a combined file browser file server FTP client app Documents 5 and I can move my Tex and PDF files back and forth between the apps Im not a very big fan of the text editor in this app and Ive been using Textastic or another editor on my iPad to produce my LaTeX files There are a few changes that I think would make this app so much better I think it would be really nice to have an option to choose whether to use the built in iOS text selection cut copy and paste tools instead of the special tools included in the app Ive tried to get used to the special built in text editing tools but I have been using iOS so long that Im much more efficient with the builtin iOS text selection tools I also dont like how the builtin selection tool pushes the text around when I am selecting something I also think it would also be nice to have a switch that enables or disables autocorrect if it were possible to make the autocorrect TeX aware Autocorrect is currently always disabled in the app Since Ive been using iOS for many years my autocorrect dictionary is quite accurate now The last important thing would be to be able to update packages when new ones become available I use a few Latex packages that format documents to specific standards that are updated periodically and a year is too long to wait to be able to get a current version of the package on my device Finally it would be nice to be able to adjust the font size in the text editor              Extremely useful on the go

I use this app for mathematics documents The task bar that lies above the keyboard makes using this app faster than typing up tex on a computer Its fully compatible and does everything you can do on a desktop I especially appreciate the automatic backup to Dropbox and its PDF preview mode                 Does what its supposed to do and more

Does what its supposed to Only small gripe Ive had compatibility issues with tex files that I created using the app modified using another editor on my laptop and imported back into this app For some reason the entire body of my text started showing up as a single line of tex writing within the app which causes many problems The body of text showed up as a single latex line line number 84 even though the app clearly registered the fact that what it counted as a single tex line in fact contained very many lines of writing showing up as over 300 latex lines on other editors              Mostly excellent

As a math grad student this thing is really handy I can leave my computer at home and wrtie stuff up at a cafe or library or whereever Makes work much nicer                 Handy

I am a theoretical particle physicist This app finally allows me to work on my research papers on the long bus ride tofrom work I keep my files in Dropbox with which this app syncs when in the presence of a wireless network This allows me to seamlessly pick up where I left off on my computer at work and vice versa A few requests I would prefer to have Apples standard selection tools as I am already familiar with them Perhaps an option in settings where the user chooses which selection tools to use It would be a huge help if after selecting text one of the options could be to take me to that position in the PDF The same feature would be a huge help from the PDF Pressing and holding on the PDF should give me the option to go to that position in the TeX file It would be nice to be able to sync with Google Drive as well as Dropbox Finally I cant find back tick to create left quotation marks Keep up the great work                 TeX on the bus

The app does exactly what it claims it does in the description The two main feature that warrants the price on the apps are 1 downloads all necessary packages and 2 syncs with Dropbox An AppsTexWriter folder appears in the Dropbox when you sync the app with Dropbox and any files in this folder is accessible and auto syncs flawlessly                 Does exactly what it claims it does

Other TeXLaTeX apps compile in the Cloud TexWriter goes to the Cloud for uncommon packages but the TeX engine is local Editing and compilation cooperate nicely                 Self contained TeX on the IPad

This app is the best and only thing you need to capture a research idea when traveling or otherwise for working on latex when taking out a laptop doesnt seem like a good idea It has helped me be productive at times when I would just be frustrated before Thank you to the developer and I hope that this remains supported and developed over the years                 A lifesaver

I wrote my PhD thesis in 1983 using troff and associated tools on BSD Unix computers I have been reading about TeX and LaTeX however I never did much With this tool I was up and running within 5 minutes Quite a complement I love the feature of being able to email the PDF output While I can use Dropbox to exchange LaTeX code files in the interest of security I would like to have the option of emailing the LaTeX file I asked the author by email but never got reply Hence 4 stars I have owned multiple iPhones since the the first iPhone but this is the first app review Ive done              A Very Useful Tool

This is a great app Ive gotten a lot of use out of it There are a couple of issues though First eps images are not supported Also when used with an external keyboard the up and down arrow keys behave in a rather annoying way Instead of moving between displayed wrapped lines of text they move between input lines So if a paragraph is a single line in the tex file up arrow moves to the top of the paragraph not the next line up as usual This gets frustrating rather quickly              Very useful but some quirks

I really love TexWriter on the iPad especially with my LogiTech Bluetooth keyboard My book has 21 files chapters over 125 pages and a bunch of png images stored in a separate folder from the tex files Im also using a bunch of style files and am blown away by how easily TexWriter just gobbles them all up and produces the beautiful text that Ive grown to love with LaTeX And btw TexWriter typesets my book very fast on my iPhone Plus I love the app                 Im in Love with this App

As a math graduate student TeX is the primary tool I use daily to generate documents Before I got Tex Writer I had to drive to my office if I wanted to work on my documents TeX writer gives me the freedom to work from anywhere I used to keep a note on my iPad with ideas for my documents so that I could edit them when I got to my office or got home now I just make changes to the documents wherever happen to be then sync my directory when I have an internet connection Which leads to the best feature of TeX Writer the user can link a Dropbox account TeX Writer or use WebDAV so I still only need one TeX directory for all of my devices The user interface is attractive and smooth and the keyboard is augmented to include both numbers and common symbols for writing in TeX so the user is not constantly switching between the iPad keyboards to find a symbol The keyboard also includes left and right arrows so you can move the cursor to a specific column of the document without fighting the iPad or having to zoom and drag In addition the developer of TeX writer has used his own text selection scene which while occasionally clumsy selecting the row above or below what I want is superior to the iPads default text selection scheme once the user gets the hang of it The app looses one star for the clumsy selection and lack of updown arrows Also the the symbols quotes and other paired delimiters should be located adjacent to left arrow as are the keys so the user can type for example which is common among programmers and other users who type a great deal An alternative would be to include a spare left arrow next to each pair so the three keys can always be pushed in sequence These are not major problems and TeX Writer remains very smooth and userfriendly despite these minor shortcomings so much so that if the text input interface of the iPad OS worked as well as that of TeX Writer iPad users would probably be 1015 more productive This apps developer has singlehandedly freed me from relegation to a tiny windowless library office Now Im going to get a waterproof case and get some work done while floating in the pool                 Who needs an office

I use this all the time for writing up notes homework and presentations I have even started typing my dissertation using TeX Writer This is one of the apps that allows me to work exclusively on my iPad                 Great I use it everyday

Several years ago I got Tex Touch for my iPad I was happy with it but then a while ago it just quit working I guess it was never updated to more recent IOS updates Anyway I finally got around to getting a new latex compiler for my iPad I cannot believe how smoothly and intuitively Tex Write works It compiles smoothly It works well with drop box It even allows me to make folders to organize my documents and it was all easy to figure out I havent been happier with an app yet Great product                 Flawless

I have been using this app since it was first available I was impressed by it at the beginning and I continue to appreciate its improvements with each update For a long time I resisted kearning TeX preferring MS Word or Pages with MathType for the equations But I have actually learned TeX using this app and it is one of my top two tools on my iPad                 One of the Two or Three Greatest Apps

I store all of my latex files in drop box so the fact that this syncs with my Dropbox giving me the ability to use latex On the bus train and anywhere else I happen to be is a dream I love this program and highly recommend it to anyone that uses latex regularly thank you for this program                 Perfect addition to Dropbox latex

I purchased this app with the hopes that I could forgo a new computer entirely and work directly from my iPad I suppose I dont know exactly what I was expecting in my heart of hearts I suppose I was hoping for something as completely functional as a desktop and while its not as functional as a desktop given the restrictions they did a really good job Ive found the lack of mouse to be a complete nonissue in fact when I switch to a desktop now I almost always try to touch the screen rather than go for the mouse And as a very remarkable aspect the program will go and install packages for you The rest of the program is remarkably functional it may take a few head scratches to make the switch over but nothing too crazy If I have complaints and I have two its that the file storage system is a bit clunky and difficult to navigate plus no way to save templates that I can see and while there is a spell checker it only has the ability to tell you youre wrong not give possible suggestions Overall quite pleased              pretty good

I have had nothing but good experiences with this version of Tex Writer This has been my introduction to Latex and having a portable version as easy to use has helped the learning curve                 Very useful and helpful
