Connected to Apple TV from iPhone 6s and have optical audio feeding my Yamaha surround receiver from the Apple TV When I see all channels playing I get main and surround audio When only one rear channel is indicated the sound is only output from the front speaker When both rears are indicated both fronts play with a bit from the rears But just found the solution The app playback does not trigger the Apple TV to Dolby surround when it is set to auto mode If I go to settings on the Apple TV and select Dolby for audio instead of auto it does work Otherwise the stereo only provides Dolby ProLogic playback which does not support discrete rear channels                 Doesn t seem to work quite right if Apple TV is not set for your app VidRx

The only way I was able tell if my new 5 1 system was working properly Only request I have would be a white noise phase test to make sure everything is in phase Overall great app and great tracks                     Great App Tacks Man

I tested this on a known working surround setup and the sound plays out of all speakers all the time Did not work for me     Doesn t split up channels Aquariusrick
