This App is free to download and will enable you to view our Free Trial Issue and purchase either single issues or a 12-month subscription. Sound On Sound is the world`s best recording technology magazine, packed ...
I can t count the number of times I ve sat down on a plane or subway with no internet opened up the SOS app and had all of my downloaded issues gone without a trace I am able to download them again but not until I get somewhere with internet defeating the purpose of having downloaded them for offline reading Slightly less annoying is that the app does not keep track of where you left off reading So if I close the app on page 40 of a particular issue when I return I have to open the issue again and figure out where I left off Please note that this is a review of the app not the publication itself If anything it is a testament to the quality of the magazine that I am willing to put up with a sub par app     Downloaded Issues Keep Disappearing JJ Loopy
Great content once you get past the app s flaws Whether it s constantly being logged out or having your page lost from a useless bookmark feature this app makes it difficult to use without frustration Because of this I don t believe I ll be renewing my subscription when it expires     Great magazine terrible app retrocandymecca
They lose subscriptions can t log in no support Expensive for the content once you finally get an issue Cheaper and easier to buy all the gear and try it out yourself     Terrible app MBArch
Worked great until December 2016 when they tried to rewrite it Now every login attempt on every screen generates error messages I never received the last few issues on my subscription and I ve received no spontaneous communication from the subscription department I ve subscribed to Sound on Sound my favorite mag for over 9 years and I m afraid to resubscribe since I don t know when I ll be allowed to read it VERY disappointed customer     App Unresponsive yamguitar
I let my subscription lapse for a couple months I resubscribed and nothing new showed up in my cue I updated the app hoping that would jog it back to life and it erased 2 years of downloaded issues and I can t log in Kind of a sucky morning     Everything is gone Deviantkirby
I loved loved LOVED this app before the upgrade My gripe originally was the removal of all prior purchased issues though they are slowly bringing those back thankfully Now the screen just goes completely white when scrolling thru the pages of whatever issue I m reading rendering the app pretty useless Please fix this             Please fix for iPad 2 Indeloon
All back issues have disappeared Restore purchases does not work Restore purchase button calls up an error dialogue The mag itself is great This app however is not     DO NOT UPDATE fireflytree
Hopefully this is a temporary problem but if you switch to another app while reading the magazine you always return to the cover page Then you have to search to remember where you left off It didn t used to do that Also if you are in the middle of an article and happen to jump back even one page when you return you are at the top again Also a change from before It s hard to understand how or why this setup would be implemented now They are annoying constructs The magazine though is great as always             Recent update is a step backward Steve McNamara
Everything that made the old version good and useful is now gone Not sure who made the old version but this new version is absolutely terrible Aside from the now corrected issue with all back issues being unavailable it looses a whole host of features and yet despite the iPad Pro being out for over a year it still does not support the iPad Pro 12 features Not sure what prompted this move but please go back to the old version this one is a subscription cancelling downgrade     Terrible new version CaptainFearful
Other reviews for this version mention that you can t download back issues even with a subscription This looks like it s been silently fixed There s still some interface downgrades in this upgrade however Most notably if you read part of an article then start another it forgets your place in the first one Similarly the ToC at the top forgets your place             Back issues back but Eeegah
As other reviewers have mentioned if you are a digital subscriber via iTunes this update renders the app useless I ve lost access to my subscription can t log in can t get back issues Their support has been very slow and pretty useless     Buggy upgrade lost access to subscription Mgbnet
App will not download current paid issue wiped previous issues no response from developers after numerous attempts to contact     Broken OctalSocket
Same story as the others I ve been a digital subscriber for years had all my issues on the iPad all favorite articles tagged etc Now it s all gone the last update reset everything and its all been deleted All that money wasted and time and effort as well Lost my business and I ll be sure to spread the word to others in the industry as well     Useless app now jpbreeze
All issues purchased earlier cannot be restored Value went from 5 down to 1     Will not restore prior purchased issues G50b
I have had a digital subscription for the last three years in an effort to cut down on the bulk of physical issues Despite assurances on the website that I could access download my purchased issues at anytime and SOS s inane reluctance to allow paid subscribers to save purchased digital issues on their computer I can no longer access any of my purchased issues before Jan 2016 Do not download this app or make any purchases until this is rectified     Do not purchase digital SOS magazines MarkleyJr
Restore purchases no longer works I paid for a subscription but cannot load any of the old issues This app us useless until they fix this     New version is broken Jifgriff
New version Dec 22 doesn t recognize active sub wiped all past issues asks you to pay for them again     Bad update tehyar
Upgraded only to see it delete prior issues I d paid for then it didn t recognize my still active subscription Don t upgrade till they fix this Not happy     Don t upgrade to Dec 2016 version it will wipe past issues seattleguitarman
This was my favorite magazine for years I have been using the iPad reader and recently it will not load any magazines and I can t even sign in to my account Tried a few times to contact SOS and they never respond really bummed I think these guys write some of the best reviews and I am surprised that they have not helped fix this issue     Really bummed Kris1883
Great magazine the pages look good but it s mystifying why the app refuses to show pages in landscape view Please add this simple feature Yes we will see only the top half of the page but there s this thing called scrolling panning We ll figure it out Please support the iPad Pro 12 9 resolution as well The interface looks kind of bad on the latest greatest iPad             Needs landscape support iPad Pro resolution support pgk2008
Subscribe to print magazine prices on line too costly TwStudios             Expensive wayoutwest
best pro audio magazine period very good navigation zoom out to multi page view text is clear easy to read but please add iPhone support My iPhone6 has higher screen resolution than original iPad Mini                 great magazine hjatho
How the can you call it an iPad app if articles can t read it in landscape mode What is wrong with you greedy 0 At least have the decency to drop the price for this poorly developed pos     Does not work in landscape mode Dubficianado
As mentioned above by another reviewer the update to iOS 8 has rendered back issues unavailable with no immediate fix Blank covers and no functioning of the restore all purchases option Hoping for an impending update to the app                 Fantastic App and great magazine but broken in iOS 8 clisma2
I ve read the magazine for years it can t be beat for recording But the latest update to iOS8 needs to have bugs fixed Downloaded issues have vanished from my iPad and cover images no longer appear in the Library It s impossible to download back issues that have been bought and Restore All Purchases doesn t             Fantastic Mag Broken App Under iOS8 ArcadiaStudios
As titled above the subscription is no longer functioning Otherwise it s a great publication             iOS 8 broke the subscription Tinpigmusic
I love sound on sound but this app won t load my sub and on here it says it s already downloaded I m gonna go through the trouble to try to get my money back Tons of time wasted with this one     Waste of Time O.D.ser
The app will not update from version 1 0 17 to version 2 I deleted the app from both the iPad and iTunes re downloaded and I get version 1 0 17 and iTunes shows there are no updates available The SOS team has also decided that as a paid iPad subscriber you can only keep one previous and not re download issues you already paid for     What a Mess trs63
SOS needs to offer more efficient download options for monthly issues Approximately 396K per issue is excessive and inconvenient An on demand option is needed I m also disappointed to learn that an online subscription is a separate purchase Other publications offer print mobile or multiple platform bundling             Interminable issue download time Waiting Too Long....
I never bother with reviews but after buying a few digital magazines from various publishers I quickly learned that Sound On Sound was doing it right SOS does a superior job delivering their magazine on the iPad even better with Retina display Clear sharp text and images mixed with interactive articles yields a very pleasurable experience                     Top notch Excellent quality magazines DJGmix
Is there really no access to the SOS website with this digital subscription as with the hard copy subscription Not being able to read some of the articles on the page is annoying It really is the only thing I m not happy about                     Great magazine app just one gripe quadrod
I ve looked at a variety of magazines for the iPad thus far in several of my areas of interest and I believe that Sound On Sound has done the best job by far of translating their magazine to the iPad format of any I ve seen especially now that they are taking full advantage of the retina display of the new iPad This made my choice to subscribe an easy one when I already knew that the content of the print edition was consistently good If you are interested in music recording there s no need to hesitate on getting this one you won t be sorry                     Awesome Windcrier
I downloaded May edition It is a great read on iPad But I can t access the June edition It says issue unavailable Why                 June edition Da_Capo
I used to subscribe to the printed edition then I found out this was coming out so I didn t review the printed version This was well worth the wait I love the interface I love that you can zoom in to view images and scroll around while on the page The text is crisp navigation is very intuitive and content is amazing as always Keep up the great work well worth the yearly price of admission                     Best audio Magazine on iPad bar none Bashfull
Of all the Brit music mags I subscribe to future music computer music and their specials SOS is the smoothest to read The photos are interactive and the articles scroll vertically preserving the continuity quite nicely It never feels like I m looking at a scanned page Not to mention all url s work with just a tap and the browsing stays inside the app as well as audio clips relevant to the articles are embedded and activated with just a tap Wicked I ve updated my review from 4 stars to 5 with the latest update Every print mag wanting to make the jump can learn a thing or two from SOS Totally worth the subscription price                     Best Formatting yet now supporting glorious Retina quality Joeflyer59
A very nice app But all the loyal SOS subscribers I ve been one for years was given the shaft by not providing access to any issues without a new purchase I m certainly not going to purchase the same magazine twice There are distinctions between the paper and iPad versions but it just strikes me wrong that existing subscribers were thrown to the wayside Not a good move Paul and company         Existing Subscribers Left Out RDBowlin
Sure the magazine looks great on the iPad and that s with just a standard non Retina screen A pleasant experience all around That said I am disappointed that existing subscribers aren t somehow being given access to this incarnation of the mag A bit silly if you ask me considering that current subscribers already get access to all monthly content via the web site Hopefully this is being addressed because I have no intention to pay for two subscriptions I would consider paying a nominal extra fee Should this come to pass I ll raise my rating to 5 stars     Existing Subscribers Up The Digital Creek Drely
Downloaded the free trial doesn t look good on the New iPad when they update I will subscribe for the yearly subscription and change the 1 star to 5                     No Support For Retina Display Or Yet CharlesSHolt
We US customers have been patiently waiting on a Sound on Sound app for iPad for quite some time While other British publishers went the Zinio PixelMags route SOS went with a far more user friendly and interactive solution The Zinio PixelMags apps basically give you the equivalent of a PDF requiring you to constantly zoom in and out in order to read and navigate the app The SOS app takes a much more intuitive approach by presenting the magazine articles in horizontal pages so that as you scroll left to right you peruse the articles ads while vertical scrolling takes you to the subpages within a specific article ad Brilliant SOS is already the most respected music production magazine on the planet and this adaptation for iPad only serves to cement that position In the past 12 SOS print copies would have cost you almost 200 on the newstand then they created a US version that was a more reasonable 10 per issue The iPad edition with all the content and then some from the print edition only costs 5 issue or 40 year Plus I don t feel guilty about downing trees to print the pages I never read e g the ProTools Cubase Reaper tutorials etc All in all I m very pleased with this app right out of the gate reading it is a far superior experience to reading other British mags net magazine Web Designer Music Tech Computer Music etc Well done SOS                     Best Adaptation of a British Magazine Yet jon_atlanta
Sound on Sound is one of my favorite recording magazines I have waited patiently for this app but unlike those of rival magazines Mix and Pro Sound News it does not provide free access to existing subscribers If it did I would give it five stars But why should I be effectively penalized for renewing my subscription a month before this app was released     Existing SOS subscribers are SOL Joseph Schwartz

Far superior to the other pro audio magazine apps Sent a message to support and got a response within 24 hours My only issue is that I cant double tap paragraphs to zoom in on them similar to Safari Cant select text for copying These are minor issues Im buying a subscription right now                 The best
