SlingPlayer Mobile for iPad

I purchased this app and a Slingbox M1primarily to view my home TV at our 2nd home I also purchased Chromecast to go with it This app drops its signal probably averaging once per hour while in use Very annoying since it always seems to happen at the wrong time Slingbox works reasonably well with Apple TV given the dropout issue above When the combined system works there is no difference in a 720P signal live or via Slingbox My problem comes with using the system with Chromecast When I experimented using Slingplayer with a relatives Chromecast in TX it worked not perfectly but acceptably But when I bought my own Chromecast and installed it on a TV in NJ it would not work at all Whenever I tried to cast the image to the Chromecast the spinner on the TV screen would rotate twice and then a error message popped on my portable device whether iPad or iPhone I was able to get reasonable performance using Slingplayer with my iPad 2 and connecting to the TV using an Apple iPad to HDMI cable This morning two days after my first attempt I tried using the Chromecast again It worked this timewell sort of The system would work very well for about 15 minutes before the screen either squeezed up into the upper half of the TV screen or the signal would just drop out completely and I would have to re connect Slingplayer I did try using Chromecast with other apps and all that I tried worked as advertised Thus I am convinced the issue is with Slingplayers implementation of Chromecast In summary if you want to use Slingplayer only on your portable device it is a great app However if you want to use it with Chromecast bewarethe results are spotty 7 July 2015 update I purchased and was able to use an Apple TV with the app very well That is until my Slingbox M1 dropped offline and refuses to connect All in all the whole Slingbox system is marginal at best It cannot be depended on to deliver its promises So buyer beware Great idea but in need of serious technical updates on both the hardware and the app software        Needs work to work reliably

Its come a long way but can you please disable the modal no internet alert It pops up often on my wifi network covering the middle of the smoothly playing video Yes my wifi might have issues but the video works fine why cover with the alert and force me to click OK each time        Good but no internet warning annoying

The last up date on my mac and on the iPad force advertising on you that was not included when we bought it     advertising

This App has been my lifeline whenever I travel for work I dont miss any of my sports teams and cable shows                 Traveling Man

Yes you can watch your favorite TV programs save on your cable bill if you have 2 residences My biggest complaint is that often when I return home I find my main TV has been turned on if I have used Slingbox while away I definitely recommend it              Worth buying

It needs more info in the menu system so no 5th star However Ive hand multiple occurrences where the app does not connect to the sling box at all There is not way to check the internet connection or restart the box remotely so it becomes useless until you return home It was down 3 days last time but was working when I got home Today its been down for 8 hours and counting Does xFinity block this app           Pretty Good When It Connects

We have successfully used slingbox from various countries throughout the Americas We are currently living in Guatemala and have been faithfully following the Olympics Crystalclear viewing with absolutely no negative challenges                 Slingbox Solo

It works great on all my IOS devices I have been using it for two years and I have no complaints other than the excessive cost for the app after paying so much for the hardware They are getting their money on both ends Just a bit greedy but I guess they have to make up the startup cost                 Great product

Be aware that sling will force you to see a commercial each time you start your device You bought a box paid a more than decent price and without any notification now they do this Poor business practice that shows how desperate is the company     Forced advertisement

App streams content fine but casting to a Chromecast is totally broken I keep getting Session has unexpectedly closed I tried unplugging it plugging it back in multiple times same error Verified that the Chromecast is connected to the network still nothing Really annoying           App works well Chromecast handoff is broken

I love my Sling Box and the Sling Player App it lets me take my TV anywhere that I go Its fun and great Ive had on lookers so excited they downloaded the App A friend told me this evening that she went out and bought a sling player for her hubby for Fathers Day Ive reminded everyone who showed interest to get a Sling Box and enjoy the App Would you believe they headed or made plans to purchase the box So Sling Player and Sling Box youve really made watching TV on the go great fun and the App sells itself to any viewer I watch it mostly on iPad sometimes on my Mac computer But its cool too on iPhone The App is available for your smart device and PC Love it 3 Cheryl                 Sling Player

I have constantly worked on this connection with Chromecast but it will not connect Sent in request to help with it Lets see if it will get fixed My other apps work fine with it     Does not work with Chromecast

I use this primarily overseas Frustratingly the video feed is choppy and keeps stuttering on Auto or high def on the iPad Air with very fast internet 80mbps This is just not optimized for long distances and for iPad Also AirPlay doesnt work any more it thinks you are trying to stream the video rare than the audio This app needs a lot of love and more development and updates     Very buggy not optimized

It worked once streaming to chrome but not since Im really disappointed Great if you want to watch exclusively on an IPad but that is not always the case I hope they work out the kinks        Chrome issues

Just simply a great tool its so convenient and during football season a must have Out at a boring event hotel out camping I take my cable television with me I use on my IPad IPhone IMac and my Galaxy Note cell for work Picture quality is awesome The best thing is that it only cost me my initial investment three years ago Well worth it Slingbox 500                 Love my box I never leave my cable at home

Im in Jakarta slingin from my Texas system on a hotel wifi with an iPad After 4 years I am hooked As expats the system is what we need Strongly recommend iPad app              Getting better each version

I mainly use my Sling to listen to music on my Dish Network account DishNet carries SiriusXM Radio There are a bunch of buffering issues when the song speeds up or slows down The songs that have stretches of being sped up are pretty cool but when the songs slow down its not so good This occurs when connectivity is on the 4GLTE wifi it doesnt matter AirPlay is very inconsistent with the AppleTV when it works its a great toy worth every           Great but needs a few tweets

It works wonderfully well Not only does it allow me to watch programs remotely on my phone and tablet it also allows me to watch cable on TV in a cottage which does not have cable service The cottage does have Internet service and a Roku streaming device connected to the TV The Sling Box casts the signal wirelessly from my cable box at home to the Roku connected to the TV I use my phone to initiate the connection between the SlingBoxcable box in my home and the Roku in the cottage Once started my phone is available to do other things I can now avoid a paying a second cable bill in the cottage                 I love the Sling Box

I own a slingbox pro HD which was working fine then one day they update this app and I am no longer able to see video but can hear audio thru my AirPlay feature on my Apple TV Only people who own a slingbox pro HD are affected by this issue Its been 6 months and slingbox has done nothing to correct the problem I didnt buy a slingbox to listen too TV     Useless

Even on high quality and fast internet speed the quality of image is terrible Sling box please stop making worse updates if its not to get it better please dont make any update     On my iPad mini with sling solo

Or you could say that it works 95 of the time but only for a few minutes But either way this thing hardly ever works for me and Im not even trying to watch on the road just at home on an iPad with high speed Internet over high speed wifi that works great for everything else but this Very frustrating     Only works 20 of the time

App is outstanding for viewing on iPad Streaming partners I have tried 3 netgear Apple TV Chromecast is inconsistent and at times choppy even with download speeds up to 105 Mbps at source and viewing location and upload speeds at source consistently 12Mbps Stopped streaming with Chromecast and netgear neo TV can only stream from iPad and iPhone 6 using Apple TV and AirPlay        App OK

The Slingbox is very powerful and mostly reliable A lot of work has gone into making it easy to install and even to use As features are added the management screens have become more complex I have trouble seeing and using the controls on my iPad Air and iPad Minis and dont look forward to trying client on my future IPhone 6 It would be nicehelpful to have an old man mode which limits the on screen icons to a larger size The icons should be limited to live normal mode and channel number The current live controls for volume etc are good                 Good but still complex

I was an owner of the original Slingbox and now run the Slingbox Pro HD at home Getting a Slingbox M1 for my Dads house so I can watch my home football team this fall from out of state Yes the app is expensive after buying the hardware but I bit the bullet and its worth it to be able to catch the news in the bathroom in the morning The only suggestion I have is to be able to rotate the screen to portrait view this is my one frustration when watching the app on the go or in an area with limited elbow or tray table space              Product keeps getting better

Easy to install connect through home wifi and allows for out if home access to all your paid for channels and packages Our Direct TV app including the GenieGo box well all we did was troubleshoot and still problems Tech support well what can I say after 58 confirmed phone calls same complaint they finally sent someone who knew how to address the problem but I already Urchased thecSlingbixno problems LOVE IT                 Love it

Purchased a Slingbox 350HD at a very good price on a sale 50 I was worried a bit about quality as there is no HDMII never should have This box works great and quality is excellent We access via iPads and a WDTV box for a big screen at the cabin The only thing holding back the quality at the cabin is our DL speed there is only 4mbs We get occasional buffering and a drop in quality Generally it always works smooth and the ipads are perfect HD My reason for dropping from 5 stars is that this product did require some tweaking at the router end When initially installed we would loose visibility to the Slingbox and continually had to repower it after we got home Very frustrated at first with the product thinking i made a mistake getting itIt turned out to be some kind of setting locking the http in the router The solution was easily fixed with the great support folks at Sling however this type of issue should be part of the setup software              Great product after a few tweaks

I am currently working overseas and I love that I can log into my cable at home in the US And watch whatever I want I dont have to miss my favorite shows because Im not at home Thank you to the people who developed this product Its a great investment                 Sling player is Awesome

Great way to have TV with you at all times AND to have access to all ondemand content Gives access to your cable box and all features remotely                 Works really well gets better with each update

Ive been using sling box since 0607 and cant live without it since I have lived most of my adult life overseas When the App became available I had to to get it and when I did I found that it worked better than the desktop version Id give it 6 stars if I could Id highly recommend this APP                 An Absolute must HAVE APP

Sling box is a fantastic service for anyone traveling regular within the states but most importantly international Love it                 Awesome

App never connects Takes 68 trys ran through all the regular traps for support A buggy app and boarder line technology DRM is on almost every station so HDMI doesnt work And TWC throttles content to Slingbox so I always have a terrible video feed     Waste of Money

When it works its great BUT when it doesnt you wont get much help from sling box I understand being out of free support but when its obviously a technical issue from sling box they should provide a free fix Mine wont play saying I need to disconnect hdmi cables and use component cables My cable are component They emailed me instruction that appear to be written by a third grader or someone not too familiar with the English language My apologies to the third graders readers this        Worst customer service

App has horrible interface I get better controllability through Internet sites Cant even use my Apple TV remote to pause or fast forward during AirPlay mode Long pauses and disconnections everytime you try to make a remote command Would be acceptable if the app was free iPhone app is a little better but it will cost you an extra 15     Terrible

when i first bought a slingbox i was able to watch everything that i could watch on my tv on my slingbox no more since sling launched a pay service i cannot watch shows that sling has on their pay service such as espn this is dishonest only buy sling if you first check which channels you want to watch and then see if they will be free to watch many popular ones are not a very good thing is now crap     not what you think
