Love it Only criticism I have is the refresh rate when scrolling in Gets a little wonky I use it on my 4s and iPad thats from 2010 and operates with io511              Great app

I was an owner of Simple Charts now they expect me to pay 30 for a yearly subscription Too Expensive Simple Charts was great for the price look elsewhere for cheaper nonsubscription charting software     Too Expensive

I use the simple chart on the tug on great lakes with our Furuno Gps works great Going Through channels from one lake to another very accurate good detail the bad in some spots the Satellite view shows up do not trust the headings never wright but its wrong on my fore flight app also also dose not Canadian waters welland canal it is a good tool always keep a paper chart on hand           Tug Captain

Just downloaded this and and when i was playing around getting used to it it continue to close     App crashes alot

I have used this app in my iPhone and Ipad for coastal Great Lakes boating and have been pleased It works as described and if I needed something more I would probably buy a dedicated chart plotter I have loaded maps into memory prior to travel so that it will still work when outside cellular coverage and was quite pleased with the results              Works as Advertised

Ive been very happy with the updated version Charts upload betterclearer Tools are all great I find the waypoints enormous and havent found a way to make them smaller yet Would like that option              Simple Charts update

I bought this app a little over a year ago and the recent update is amazing I especially like the new display                 Great App

Every time I hit the position icon instead of taking me to my location it takes me to the middle of the ocean somewhere Am I missing something        Confused

This is an excellent navigation tool Why would anyone buy an expensive panelmounted system when you can do everything and more with this app on your iPad or iPhone                 Excellent app

The charts wont update on the screen sometimes           Ok

The program runs ok but few improvements may make it much better Instead a ball as a boat position it should be an arrow pointing int direction the boat is heading Also tides should be a help For some reason one cannot enlarge the chart instead the sat picture comes instead if I want to navigate on water I do not need a sat picture but precise charts ie one that is enlarged Over all it is all right for the money spent but definitively could be improved              Ok but can be improved

Had old version of this app for years on iPad worked great Purchased new iPad Air up date version is terrible If its not broken dont fix it     If its not broke dont fix it

Very impressed with the app We have taken it along on a handful of trips down the ICW from southern VA to Key Largo The instruments panel including location speed distance etc has matched my garmin installed onboard in every instance that they were side by side Love the detail in the raster charts rather than the electronic charts on the garmin much more appealing to look at My wife and I really enjoyed the course export functionality that allowed us to share our course with friends which has come in handy Really like the app and have already gotten more than 10 worth of enjoyment out of it Hopefully the developers will continue to add new features We requested several features which we would find useful and think others on the water would as well They stated that they would be adding these features to a list of enhancements they have planned so time will tell if they get added                 Simple charts review

I recommend this App I used to use it a few years ago and came back to it because its easy to use compared to some of the top grossing apps that I paid for Personally I dont know Captain terminology so a lot of the extra info available on the other apps was convoluting my screen Plus I was paying more for info that wasnt serving my needs I just need an easy to use app that provides the NOAA charts layered in with my GPS location which shows the depths with contour lines and where the obstructions are so that I can avoid the wrecks and sand bars This app provides this for me and Im very satisfied It does provide more than Ive mentioned here but I wont go into those details Happy and safe boating to you                 Easy to use

Used this app to find my way to a duck blind on the Currituck Sound in the middle of the marsh in the dark Even with poor cell service this chart updated well enough to be very accurate I agree with other reviews that the location dot should be an arrow showing heading but otherwise a great app I would recommend to friends                 Great Chart App

I dont use this app very often but when I need it I have excellent maps at hand Its easy and practical to use The reason for the one star rating is that Ive already purchased this app Now they tell me I have to have a subscription to it Why do I have to subscribe to something Ive already bought I dont get it Anyway Ill use it until Im required to subscribe then Ill find something else to use And my original purchase will be wasted Nice     Good App Bad Service

The app is easy ti use I would like to see the ability to set a go to feature to guide you to the location I do like the app though              Getting better each update

I highly recommend buying this app It is a great way to get a quick fix with GPS on your phone I have two requests though 1 If I try to save a track it stops when my phone goes to sleep and then you lose a portion of your trip I wonder if there is a way to keep recording 2 This one is Apples fault When we still had Google maps the satellite image overlay was from low tidearound Hilton Head SC Unfortunately Apples satellite images are at or near high tide It was nice when you could actually see sandbars in addition to the depth markings since they do shift I wrote Apple but maybe if more people complain it will get fixed              Very good app

Over the past few months I have tinkered with several charting apps available ranging from free to upwards of 30 and I have come to the conclusion that simple charts is by far the easiest to use and most complete app available The app is the perfect compliment to my onboard system and functions smoothly as I go in and out of cellular or Internet service As the name indicates is fairly easy to operate and the learning curve is low as I compare it to most of the others The feature set is much more than I anticipated and caters very well to my needs The documentation is on the light side but I found the FAQ section useful the support email allowed me to contact the developers and get the remaining questions I had answered I was pleasantly surprise at the quick turnaround on the email and the tone and level of detail provided led me to believe they actually cared highly recommended                 simple charting app review

I was initially concerned because the areas I boat and fish extreme south Texas did not display properly But after a couple of emails the bugs have been fixed and it works well Thanks for being so responsive                 Overall excellent

The company that purchased this app from simple charts is now trying to change the orig terms of the agreement by requiring additional fees Apple should do something about this     Msg

I use this app on and off shore Id be interested in the instructions as Ive not found any but in general it does what I want I would like a way for the tracking to work in the back ground eg not required for the app to be on and open all the time but rather to draw logical route conclusions but I like it A side note data blocs get lost when zooming like bridge heights Is there any way to make those things for a particular area a new tab in the display Maybe not Anyway great tool does all Ive asked it Now all I need is a toimage feature to capture those lovely waypoints on the chart semi suitable for framing but especially great for ships logs              Simple Charts is a good app

Purchased a couple of years ago and works well but with recent update I could no longer access the charts I had previously downloaded without subscribing Very disappointed Hard to subscribe 30 miles out Of course this is just a back up for going out but frustrating nonetheless        They changed it on me

My old Garmin finally died when I was getting ready to go offshore Sunday I was stuck at the dock with no GPS so I decided to try Pro Charts on my iPhone Wow It took me right to my spot 25 miles offshore Cant wait to try it on my iPad next weekend This is as good as any GPS at West Marine and it was only 2999 instead of several hundred Thanks for a great product                 Love this app

Great app Ive used Simple Charts for 2 years and loved it but the new Pro Charts version is even better The users who left bad reviews must have missed the HUGE message that comes up when you open the app and says existing users get a free subscription All you have to do is enter your email address and you get all the charts Thanks                 Awesome updates Love it

This app is a complete wast of money     Waste of money

Heading indication 180 degrees opposite of actual heading Charts have very little detail and do not compare to any of the apps you pay a little for The optional charts you can purchase have no actual value A real disappointment when compared to the authors excellent guide book for the same area Order the book skip this application        Not so hot

This app does what its supposed to My only complaint is that part of the chart around Beaufort NC shows the satellite view instead of the chart Please fix this and it will be great           Good App

As a professional mariner I purchased this to have an immediate backup in the event my plotters failed I am not very impressed and dont feel as if I am getting my moneys worth yet Some major improvements would be to add a vector from the vessel that shows course over ground Also how about an option to download to the device a full NOAA RNC instead of just an area you have browsed Lastly an option to delete the vessels tracklines and adjust the size of the waypoint icons and the size of the route turn points        Needs Improvement

Ive tried both this app and Marine Charts This one cost less but as more responsive in displaying the maps and the ability to cache the maps was works as expected Marine Charts download function as what I really wanted but since that did not work in that other app I was very disappointed Simple Charts gave me the rough equivalence so I am satisfy with it For the pricethe features and the snappy interface this is definitely the better if the two              Simple to use Works as expected

I have experimented with a lot of marine apps and this one is my favorite by far The only thing that I didnt like was that it would not follow your movement keeping you centered on the screen But after some very helpful communication with the developers they explained why it didnt do what I wanted but also assured me that this functionality would be included in the next update or two They delivered on their promise and I have a great app that I use every time I am on the great lakes I can also export all of my waypoints at once in the form of an email to my iPad and BAM everything is there too                 Great app

For the last three years Ive gone up and down the ICW from NY to Key West and Ive found this app invaluable It starts with a chart view of an area and as you magnify the image it changes to a satellite view This is very useful for several reasons You can see the layout of a marina before entering from the satellite view so getting directions to your slip is less confusing especially for very large marinas We have a dog on board so well look at an anchorage and see if there is a sandy area for dog relief Shallow areas show up lighter in color so we can see where shoaling is occurring before running through a shoaled area on the ICW All of the above is possible with Google Earth but this app is much more convenient to use since it starts out with the familiar charts first and this app places the markers and buoys symbols right on the satellite view Google Earth doesnt It works well with a bluetooth GPS to show your position on the charts and satellite view as you move along                 Best app combining satellite photos with charts

I bought this app years ago and it said 1 time purchase for life on the charts Now I have 0 charts Thanks youre good people     Liars

These charts show land on the South Louisiana coast that have been gone now for over 20 years This app was a waste of money FOR ME     Way outdated

I would highly recommend this app for anyone on the water Ive been using the app for some time now and the most recent update really makes the app complete Very easy to use creating waypoints and routes is very straight forward and intuitive                 Love the update highly recommended
