The updated app instructions indicate that there should be a star that you select to download an entire issue to read offline The stars only appear for individual articles inside of an issue I shouldn t have to download each article individually Update as of July 14 they ve fixed the offline magazine glitch How the heck do you download issue zy1282

I liked having my RW mags on my device flipping pages like a magazine marked my favorite articles and could read them when not connected Then they improved it It doesn t work off line although you can download individual articles I had just renewed prior to the change I turned off renewal so I don t pay anymore for this worthless way to present their magazine All my old downloaded issues are gone and there is no enjoyment using this app If you want to read RW go buy a paper copy Ruined a good thing Hgsguy

This new look is boggy and slow to respond to finger swipes There is a noticeable lag when going to a new page or just scrolling through one page As far as readability there isn t much positive to say I like the clean look but there isn t much to anchor my eyes as I move around each page The narrower columns of the previous look were easier to read and yes I know that is because they are just like the print magazine Runner s World could incorporate a similar design to what Outside magazine uses it retains the look and feel of a print magazine but allows you to scroll through articles without sacrificing readability It looks familiar but manages to keep a lot of information on the page without looking cluttered no more continued on page anymore Everything looks so spaced out now with the new design and with the small type it is harder to read I ll check out the print edition but if this redesign extends to that as well I m cancelling my subscription Sorry Runner s World Horrible new format hard to navigate ben-marko

Before the update I rated Runner s World 5 stars because the App worked like a charm After the update I will have to cancel my subscription because everything that used to work is broken now The app doesn t remember where I stopped reading so I am always starting at the beginning of the issue All my favorite articles I saved over the last couple of years are gone Can you imagine my frustration The intro says that you can favorite articles I don t even see this option I have an iPad Air 2 so no it s not my device The app freezed up on me 3 times in the last 10 minutes Every time I reopen the app you guessed it right I have to start reading on page 1 again Why oh why did you have to make a new app I have a guess here The publisher got a cutthroat quote from another supplier to make the app for half the yearly cost The publisher thought oh good we can save money And they ditched an app that was working perfectly fine and did what it was supposed to do for an utter mess Thank you Rodale for caring for your readers I can t believe this is happening with such a reputable publication as Runner s World Update Oh you have to be logged in with Facebook to save favorite articles How reader friendly Please restore the old app ASAP I wrote my first review in early December and nothing has changed I won t be renewing my subscription Worst update ever not renewing my subscription Magic Spellz

This format change for the Rodale publications was a horrible idea The previous version was awesome and I really looked forward to it It also had video and audio content and was interactive This low res PDF thing is a joke It reminds me of my high school yearbook Why would I pay for this The only thing that looks not wonky in the magazine are the ads because at least those look like a scan I feel like I ve waited long enough for a fix on this awful format so I m cancelling It is unpleasant to use this app I don t know what Rodale was thinking Cancelling MathNomad

I spent a lot of time emailing this app management after purchasing a subscription I could not access the current issue the app kept requesting that I pay the 4 95 single issue price after I had purchased a subscription I followed all instructions multiple times deleting and reinstalling the app restarting my iPad etc I finally registered a complaint with ITunes and got a refund App simply does not work Jane Quilter

No preview on PDF version unlike Nook and how it was previously on iOS Offline reading is broken you can t tell when the entire magazine is downloaded or even IF its downloaded and the PDF version always starts from page one even if the last page you were reading was 60 pages in And when you turn a page it takes an age to render The article view is not a replacement for the prior experience It might work on the iPhone but the iPad version is much much worse Somehow an app that has been great since 2011 has been completely borked Nice one Worse than Nook Version Mark in Brooklyn

This app used to work well with the IPAD They dumbed it down and now it s just a low quality PDF or an option to read text with a few pictures Apparently they no longer value appreciation of the graphical interface an iPad can provide Low resolution PDF ripped off CosJap

This app has completely ruined the ability to enjoy this quality magazine It s difficult to navigate You download for offline reading only to find the issue isn t there After several years as an online subscriber I m contacting them today to change back to print Yes it s that bad Disaster Occasional bird watcher

I loved the Runners World app before the update I would even brag about it and show it to my friends I bought the subscription because of the app and the app was very close to an actual magazine but with additional features This latest update is horrible It s not even usable and the developers are going the wrong direction They need to bring back the old one Horrible update Newcovtech

Update The last couple issues of Runners World have been really stable on my iPad I really appreciated the Boston Marathon oral history in the May 2014 issue an iPad exclusive Original review I love Runners World and Im thrilled to be able to read it on my iPad In fact I finally broke down and got a subscription as a present to myself Theres just the right mix of informational and inspirational articles to keep my interest and photos of amazing runs and runners to make me incredibly jealous The app does tend to crash a lot though In fact it consistently crashes in the ad section if the current issue I really wish they would straighten these kinds of problems out because I love reading and rereading every issue Great magazine Great app

The magazine itself is great But dont get an iPad subscription the publisher just doesnt get how to do iPad publishing right I was a print subscriber and received a convert to digital email from them I had a great experience with that with other magazines like Wired so I did it When you get digital they did not give me access to any of the back issues even the issues that I had received the print versions of This is ridiculous They should make the entire back catalog available They also pitch the digital as get the latest issue sooner but when I signed up on 21 I had already received the march issue and that was not yet available in the iPad version Give it a pass until someone else says this stuff is dealt with Great magazine Dont get it on iPad

The downloads arent race pace but the content works well once its loaded I like the extra content features and the way articles are easy to navigate Back issues are very reasonably priced compared to other publications Works well on an iPad

With the latest design I can no longer zoom into articles I read this on an iPad mini and the text size is pretty small I used to be able to zoom in to read the articles Now the only pages that allow zoom are ads How very thoughtful you are of your advertisers Also if you say this is designed for iPad you should make it so that it can be viewed either landscape or portrait Poor design

Runners World is still trying to get their app act together They need to send someone from their development team for a field trip to National Geographic or The Economist who actually know how to build apps that work This one does not The transfer from a print to digital subscription is cumbersome and filled with errors The biggest issue is that you cant login and get issues which you have already purchased Failed attempt Runners World Hope you figure it out soon Cant get their act together

It doesnt look like this app has been updated since its original introduction to the store Please update to utilize the larger screen and adaptive text Great magazine just a very bad digital experience No 6 or 6 plus integration

UPDATE 31 January 2015 March 2015 edition available on file sharing sites I wonder how long before its available on the iPad app I have had an iPad subscription for over 2 years Today is the 14th of December and I noticed that I am able to download a PDF version of Januarys edition from file sharing sites as far back as 10 December But Januarys iPad magazine still isnt available Even the Running Times iPad magazine was available 2 days ago and they are notorious for delivering late My advice to potential Runners World customers is to check your local library first The Zinio app paired with a decent library will get you Runners World and The Running Times for free every month Slow Delivery

You cannot switch to a landscape version of the magazine This makes the pictures cut off You have to zoom in on every page because the small font This app looks like it was designed by someone that never used a good reading app Developersgo to Fortune Magazine and try it Compare that to your app and you will be embarrassed at the mess that is this app Not good

I pay my annual duties for the printed edition and I expected that my membership would entitle me to read this magazine in my iPad as well I mean this is what I regularly do with The New Yorker and the NYT Having the magazine at home and not being able to access the digital edition of the Runners World is extremely disappointing Very disappointed

All these negative reviews seem focused on things that the app never claimed to do Everything works as it should I like the extra features like instant videos and other cool little extras within the articles App works fine

Prior to the November issue I was very satisfied with the online experience The magazine layout took advantage of the user interaction capabilities of a tablet Unfortunately I too really miss the ability to zoom the articles to a size best for the reading conditions I can still zoom on the advertisements but not the articles There is no font size option either Was 5 star

This is a terrible way to read a magazine Scrolling is slow and choppy the downloads are huge and take forever to download on even he fastest internet connections the app itself is buggy and crashes often etc etc etc Even worse you literally cant buy or read any issues other than the November 2014 issues The store only allows you to buy this months issue For a glorified PDF reader they sure did a bang up job of making it as terrible as possible Slow buggy painful

The app performs as expected no more no less Means of providing access to store to purchase and download digital media and it does this well Have had no issue with app crashing or slow service Performs as Expected

It does load slowly on my iPad But it is worth the wait This is the only health magazine I read now and have used it as my primer for running and all that goes with it I love the the continuous flow of information on food exercises needed shoe studies along with recommendations which really work out well It also has articles that are just fun to read Overall I love this magazine

Reading Runners World helps keep me focused on running even when life and travel want to distract me Articles are informative and well written Great Magazine
