Prey gives me peace of mind                 Feeling Safe

It doesnt work like it does on a computer Prey on the computer works in the background it is always ON You cant really turn it off The mobile app however must be running all the time In other words it is like every app on your phone you must tap the app icon turn it on and leave it on Since thats not how I run my phone it leaves something to be desired The developers admit this and say that Apple has locked iOS down so that it wont run like on a Mac Too bad           Its ok

Initializing the app is hit or miss At best it takes 20 seconds to launch but then well over 90 seconds to locate anything At worst I have waited over five minutes for it stop telling me please wait before I killed it Worse when it finally does start to operate the data it provides is unreliable In one case I was checking it on my wifes phone to ensure it worked I had her phone in my hand but Prey told me it was over 40 miles away It repeatedly showed this for over 10 minutes I came back 30 minutes later and it finally showed the correct location I cant trust it to work when I would need it so why bother        Cannot depend on it

It stopped showing where the location of where my phone is All it says is device reached but wont update to the map        One problem

I installed Prey on 3 devices about a week ago and have been following them on the web site each day They remain in communication with the web page and have not been lost except for a time they lost the connection either broadband for the phone and wifi for the iPad and MacBook So far I like it              So far so good

Works well and is a good back up to Find my iPhone                 Does what its suppose to

I left my phone on the Metro and Prey was able to find it with within a few houses in DC Two trips and a brief chat later BOOM Phone and contacts recovered Thanks Prey                 Phone recovered

I installed this 2 weeks ago Cant find my ipad2 Removed and reinstalled Still wont find my iPad I keep getting a popup saying alert notifications need to be allowed All settings are correct but still the popup I contacted support but they blew me off saying give it more time A week later still nothing It does however find my wifes iPad mini Just off by a few houses Good luck     Doesnt work

Update as soon as I login to prey app on my iPhone my iPad recognize my phone right away and alarm ringing It is so stupid because if I lost my iPhone whoever has the phone will not be able to login to prey app I will not be able to locate the phone It works fine at my house but when I went to different city and tested it on my iPad mini it cant recognize my new location The last known location was 17 hours ago Tried for 20 min unsuccessful but my phone keep received fake message sent by Prey tho Useless app if I cant locate my phone     Location issue

I have used prey for a while now and managed to track all my iOS devices at all times I managed to find a stolen device and Prey has also proven helpful when my toddlers are hiding my phones in our apartment Highly recommend                 Worked many times

Recently there was an issue with their server going down and you werent able to log in with out getting an error Which was very inconvenient for those who were trying to track stolen devices and my daughters was one of them Normally you would expect a resolve in a few hours but the site had a problem from Saturday to Monday It seems as if no one monitors on a frequent basis for problems and no one was getting any feedback or assistance from team members Ultimately Prey advised that their provider was at fault but I think Prey should bear the burden here for not advising there customer base at all regarding the service they provide I paid to upgrade the day it went down so I feel real dumb        Server down

So i want to know where my phone is without having to send it to missing so i try to search it on map an actions but of course after endless times of attempting it it doesnt work so whats the point of this app of it wont even work so now im worried over if its at my friends house or not     Really bad app at times

Prey is great and worth using on all electronics The implementation here is not really the best but it does work UI is a little sparse for people who do not know the project and that most of it is from website end it might look like something is missing or broken I like Prey I hate rate me popup dialogs but at least it no longer makes the app fail to run              Review demands

Havent had to use it yet It sits quietly in the background which is as it should be Hope I never need it but if I do I know it will do its job                 Just in case

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT SECURITY NECESSITIES DISCUSSED My original goal for this app was to help prevent theft of my grandfathers iPad while he is in a nursing home I tested this app out myself and I found some things that should be addressed but are not the death of this app that is as long as you preset some VERY IMPORTANT features First and foremost this service requires the app to be running constantly in the background on the device to work If the app is immediately deleted by the thief forget trying to recover your device This can be manually fixed on an Apple device by not allowing ANY apps to be deleted until the setting is changed in Settings General Restrictions untoggle Deleting Apps There is currently no other way for the app to require a password before a potential thief deletes the app If you are able to prevent the deletion of the app the security features still dont work if the app was closed out of in the multitasking bar meaning that the app is no longer running in the background You can send a message to the device from your Prey account on another computer to try to run the app but the thief MUST click open within an alert or on the banners in order for the app to open and allow the rightful owner to use the security features that Prey offers Granted most petty thieves are not this sophisticated but for the best protection please set the aforementioned deletion setting on your device and make sure that you you allow notifications for the app then preferably set to alerts in your notification settings on the iPad settings allow access to the location of the device and to the camera on the device when you first download the app Another issue I have with the app is that once the security message is open within the app the thief can still close the app Please lock the screen to that message and make sure that the their cant just get rid of the app by closing it out which doesnt require deleting As a programmer myself I know that this is a tall order but I know that it is possible Please consider these changes Prey Inc and for the users please follow this advice to get the most out of the app Thanks for reading              Pretty good but could be improved
