Offline Topo Maps

Love it Wish I could store more maps on my phone Updated maps would be even better                 Best offline Map

I live in Asia and even minor walking paths are marked Overall this works very well                 Maps are accurate

This app is great for off trail rambling and route finding I download maps every time I head out hiking or backpacking Its also perfect for snowshoeing fresh tracks when there is no visible trail                 Awesome

I want my money back     Cant rotate maps

Planning to use this on an iphone for a trip to the sierras I was able to add a bunch of milestones along the route much easier to use than my GPS unit                 Pretty darn amazing

Were outdoors people and love being able to see details in the terrain of places we know and new places                 Love this view of the earth

I work in the desert everyday and rely on a GPS to get me where I need to be and find my coworkers While I need my Garmin for all its installed waypoints I find that this app works better for quick geospatial reference to know where I am and what landmarks are around me No Disappointments                 Great as primary or backup to your GPS

Why hasnt anyone else reviewed it yet Topo maps are sharp and the GPS positioning in accurate I love the Sat image map You cannot get lost with this app Just make sure you download the map grids while you have service                 Love this app

It is easy to get topo maps But thats the end Neither the screens in the the iPhone 5s nor the iPad 3 match the pictures in the manual Its performance isnt even close to that of a handheld GPS        Doesnt follow its own manual

Been needing a good offline topo map app for my hikephotography trips in the mountains Ive been on the verge of lost a few times and this has everything I need to stay safe and on course Kudos on the good work Best Ive spent on hiking                 Finally found it

I need an app with downloadable satellite imagery for offline use I purchased this app and tested the offline imagery The highest available resolution is TERRIBLE and unusable Pales in comparison to the imagery available on Google Earth If only Google Earth imagery was available for offline use I can not speak to the use of topographic maps but for imagery steer well clear of this app Having said that iTunes happily refunded my money I was very pleased with the manner in which Apple handled this situation     Pitiful Imagery

I tried a couple other topo softwares that werent nearly as good as this before trying this one It has a great level of detail and all the functionality I wanted                 Just what I needed

This is the best topo map app anywhere with all kinds of excellent features I use is for hiking for getting the lay of the land end even occasionally when flying a seaplane                 Best Topo App

The apps dont have turnbyturn direction like a traditional GPS returned my purchase without any problem friendly customer service              Great customer service

Latest update with ability to add aerial images is great Wonder if it is possible to add track logs next update Maybe be able to change waypoint symbol                 Good app

I have had this App for awhile liked it but it really came into its own on this trip I assisted in teaching a Wilderness SAR Team Leaders Course Used it to Set Up Compass Course both Day And Night as well as Day and Night GPS Course Switched between Maps flawlessly I am a definite Fan                 Awesome App Used it Teaching

We have looked for a long time for software to do what the Offline Topo maps app can do Download any area you wish to hike set waypoints go offline and you can still see your position waypoints etc You need to watch your usage since not much chance to recharge your phone when in the backcountry unless you use solar but we go extremely light We spent days figuring GPS points by hand from a USGS Topo for an extended trip last year This app would have done all that work in about 10 minutes Current GPS position is still available on the topo maps when cellular data is not available or is turned off to conserve power Our current location checked out extremely well in all situations You can save additional power by using airplane mode to review your maps waypoints but current GPS position wont show up since it is disabled We switch between the two power saving settings This App deserves 6 stars Im sure the upgrade to Gaia GPS is equally fantastic too The ability to upgrade at anytime is an additional great benefit                 Finally found what we wanted

I use around 6 map apps on my iPhone at any one time and have tried several others My main use is route finding by car in remote Western areas with only cached maps I use for hiking too but dont do route finding with waypoints This app downloads data fast lets you compare different maps all in one view and permits saving Google satellite images It often takes 2 or 3 map types to analyze a location say for car camping in advance I also recommend the various GIS map apps called GeogState or GeographicState meaning for each state They have land ownership geology roads landmarks fire hazard level etc The only data I cant find and save is detailed vegetation                 A Keeper

Ill start with the only negative Ive found with this app It drains your device battery rather quickly You need to check battery strength before heading into the woods Fully charge in your vehicle and youre good to go Now for the meat of the review I use this app all the time during hunting season I rarely use a gps as this has taken its place It is extremely easy to use You can mark numerous waypoints close together and still decipher the difference between them I always mark my vehicle and head out The ability to pull up aerial photos is invaluable I have found the topo lines very accurate as well This is a must have to hunt effectively Especially if you hunt public land like me                 Must have for hunting

Really great app Love that I can download maps for offline use when out of cell range but can still Use GPS to show my coordinates paths and trails It can still record all my data using my saved maps                 I really like it

This app has been exactly what I hoped for It lets me download maps while Im at home on my wifi and then I can access them when in the backcountry The GPS on my iPad even works when I have no service and show my location on my topo map I have not had a problem with the maps at all Im glad I bought them                 Love the App

Lots of maps available maybe too many Cant always zoom in as much as Id like but very pleased I think Ive tried every map and navigation app out there Id say this is the best              Great so far

Useful basic GPS map Very easy to download maps and plot where you are There are much better navigation apps such as Pocket Earth to do car trips but for the booneys this one is great              Good app

I use this for trip planning and finding historical places The map selection is great for California I especially like the historical Topos For those that complain that roads are out of date keep in mind that these are usgs Topos intended to show land features not up to date roads You can choose the open street maps view for a better road map                 Excellent

I save maps for the area I plan to travel when Im connected Then when Im out I keep my phone in airplane mode and turn on data when I want to locate myself Works well                 Great for backcountry travel

GET TOPO MAPS                 Its the solution you need

When I first downloaded this app I wasnt impressed I had been using it with Bad Elf GPS and never got it to work correctly Maybe user error But tried it again on a multi day rafting trip Download the map of the area before heading out Once on the river I kept trying and finally figured it out and it worked great I was able to find where we were to the river mile map mark future camp location measure the river miles Plan to download many other maps for our outdoor adventures Now to figure out how to take pictures of waypoints and have them sync together              Much Improved

We use it to locate field tile It does the job Only wish there were a newer map The one we get from the county as the county tile runs and are more up to date Unless there is a change in mother earth these work This app is well worth it And it works with a Dual xgps150 I say this because my iPad is wifi only We tested it using an apple phone and the topo maps showed my location and the apple phone showed the right location but wrong place about 75 yards off All I can say it works If you get the app read the help section That I over looked Just remember to set the section you want and save it to load into the main map                 This does work very well

Used this on my iPhone while on an Alaskan cruise to show me where we were at any particular time Figured from the title it didnt need internet but while cruising Glacier Bay and the Inside Passage it wouldnt load any map of the area that was readable And the location function put us in Vancouver while we were still 500 miles north of there Maybe its the wrong app for this purpose        Maybe the wrong app

This application went far above my expectations I am an avid backpacker and have traditionally taken a handheld Garmen device with me as an addition to mapcompass This trip I left the Garmen at home and used this app on a 60 mile hike through the smokies and Appalacian Trail Here are my findings Great Battery Life while using the app and keeping the phone in airplane mode Better than the AAAs I had to lug with my GPS GPS was incredibly fast and accurate with IPhone 6 at least The old Garmen took 3 minutes to find the satellites and this licks in within seconds even down in the forest Map accuracy was good and used in conjunction with a local trail map was perfect Pros know to always take a map and GPS for safety and this combo was perfect My old Garmen GPS maps were outdated anyhow and they wanted me to pay to upgrade and these USGS maps are a perfect balance of functional trails and cost Great controls using the iPhone control pinch to zoom double tap etc are so much easier than the old joystick style devices and the huge screen is great and far superior to the small LCD you get on those other devices Less Weight I was carrying my phone for emergencies anyhow and now Im using it and have reduced my weight by 3 lbs without the Garmen and extra batteries it needed Thanks for making such a great product I look forward to continued updates and features                 Awesome Handheld GPS Replacement
