The sun has retreated from the earth, a week ago it shone its last, and now chaos has begun. People fear for their existence, and while scientists struggle to explain the phenomenon, the creatures of ...
Very highquality enjoyable game A bit small at times on the iPhone rather than the iPad but still an excellent purchase                 Excellent
There is definitely a learning curve the chaining mechanic means there are subtle affinities between cards that are not immediately obvious Play the first couple games expecting to lose Also in multiplayer games only one opponent will clearly show their in play minions You can tap on the character icon to switch between which is showing but it can be confusing at first Also note that some cards only have an effect when it is your chain especially in the beginning it may be better to save those cards for when they will help a fact that the tutorial alludes to without a detailed explanation Also note that every minion that attacks and only Bad Smoke cannot attack will be discarded after the attack For the Starter minions this means they are removed from play This confused me for a few games until it sunk in All in all this is a good addition to my game library and there is something very satisfying about building long chains with activated kickers              Enjoyable deck builder
If you havent played a deck builder game then I suggest starting with ascension also well worth a purchase Ascension is more accessible passing around the iPad for live multiplayer since its rules are easy to explain but I would say nightfall would be better suited to the 4player experience since the center cards dont change Both games play very different and I call them both deck builder games because both start everyone with an identical deck of resources they use to acquire what they need to then get shuffled into your base deck 1 works on a points system the other deals with attacking As for how its played Every card has a color and 2 colors that can be played on it by any player Say I play summon a red monster that allows blue and green I could continue the chain with a blue or green card but it would also have 2 colors and when Im done enemies have the option of playing counter effects or summoning creatures if they can match the color If not they have to wait till their turn to start their own chain Each player drafts cards unique to them at the start so that adds a ton to the game Creatures have power and toughness the typical fare As a final note the xpak feels like a must buy as how it adds so many more combos and such that I strongly suggest getting it to fully appreciate the game                 Great
Newest update is much better Still need to fix dialog boxes              Almost there
The update totally messed up the flood the game Real choppy now Game was perfect     Way to mess up a great game
I love a game that I can play everyday and it is a different game each time The way the cards interact with each other and how you can mess with the other player is what is missing from other deck building games but nightfall has it A must buy                 I play this every day
So where is Martial Law Was it not said to be released on the 20th of September I presume that was 2012 although not specified                 Promising
I like the game and own the original card set but I want to be able to manipulate and rearrange the cards in my hand and see the total number of each card in my deck like in the Ascension app              Good but needs changes
Nightfall is a fantastic game that has me playing over and over again to figure out the best strategies combos and card chains I think the expansion which is an inapp purchase makes it all the stronger The choices you make differ when playing with 2 3 4 or 5 And the AI is solid That being said the game is complex and has a steep learning curve The interface is good but until you know what its doing it will feel impenetrable Theres a tutorial but its so dense that it took me three or four times through to really grasp it Its well written but theres a lot going on here If you like deck building you should give Nightfall a chance Just know going in what youre signing up for                 A deep game with a real learning curve
Its a fun game but I cant stand getting push notifications telling me to buy an expansion The developers have started sending push notifications about sales reminders to buy expansions and I even got one from another of their games Food Fight asking if Id played the campaign This is a violation of the iOS developer agreement and a quick way to lose your player base as they turn off push notifications to avoid ads being pushed to all their iOS devices     Stop sending ads in push notifications
The most recent update erased all my promo card unlocks What a pain           Erased progress
Cant wait till the avatars expansion is released                 Solid competitive deckbuilder
I love this and play it a ton but it is way too hard for brginners to get used to I was lucky enough to learn on the physical game and i think this would be much improved by stopping the game each round Still Buy it It is awesome              Awesome game but
The game plays great The few tweaks seems to help a lot especially when you have a lot of games at the same time My only problem is why is it forfeiting people I had two hundred hours left and was winning and the game decided I had enough and forfeited for me without even telling me My buddy was just like dude why did you quit hopefully this will be fixed in an update soon           Great Game but
This game is loads of fun In person it is easily my favorite DeckBuilder It does not give me the multiplayer solitaire experience I get from other many other DeckBuilders not that I dont love Dominion and Race for the Galaxy There is a learning curve as many other critics have noted I found chaining easiest to learn if you view it as a trick taking mechanic like every players turn is a round of UNO It is more intricate than that but that description has served me well in teaching others how to play I read a review that said Playing Nightfall is like being thrown into a pit filled with pointy sticks and angry wolves and then discovering that the wolves have developed the uncanny ability to wield pointy sticks that is the experience It is GRAND I love it IRL but you get your fix where you can The OnLine implementation is solid OffLine the AI tends to be more AntiYou than the free for all the game is intended to be It also has the uncanny ability to almost know what you have in your hand as well as how many wounds you have so play with wound count on vs the AI not so much against players so as to avoid King Maker scenarios Furious Melee may seem OP and in games vs the AI it is Try Drop Furious Melee a couple of times in quick successions in games against living adversaries and you will find a HUGE kill me sign taped to you and balance is restored Good Luck Happy Hunting              If You Cant Play In Person
I wanted to look at the Card Gallery from the menu but it crashes the app back to the iOS home screen Ive tried it on my iPhone my new iPad and my iPad Mini All three have the same result I uninstalled and reinstalled on my iPad and it still happens           Card Gallery Crashes App
Ive got the same problems as many others do with the game For someone that hasnt played the physical version of Nightfall the gamelay is confusing and the tutorial is useless I really liked the Ascension implementation from the same company Hopefully they can tweak the UI and update the tutorial and I can then update my rating to 5 stars           I really wanted to love this
A very fun and addicting game like many others have stated the tutorial isnt that clear on how the game works Luckily I play magic the gathering and it has similarities that make it easier to understand So if you like card games get this one you wont be sorry                 Love it
The physical version of this game is one of my favorite board games and this has quickly become my favorite iOS game The overall game has a significant but not impossible learning curve so if you have never played be prepared for that It might be worthwhile to go online and grab the PDF rule book for the tabletop version probably a better tutorial The interface is slick near perfect on the new iPad but a bit too cluttered on the iPhone 4s Because of card size it can sometimes be near impossible to select cards deep in the chain Overall though it is quite functional if not a tad obtuse I didnt realize I could swap out miniondeck views for myself and other players until I had played for about a week I really cant wait for the expansions and Playdeks Thunderstone adaptation                 Great game very strong initial release
I like this game where are the other expansions Please add them                 Updatesexpansions please
Very confusing Took me forever to find the tutorial and still didnt understand it     Confusing
Fun slight learning curve                 Great deck building game
I love this game and ascension a ton Ive been playing them a bunch the last few months The asynchronous play is a great style for this game One thing I would change though is so if someone forfeits they cant win I always forget about them when battling someone else to the end after someone quit especially in a threeplayer game              Pretty fun
Game looks great and the new variety of cards is awesome but even the revamped tutorial still leaves me with a lot of questions and I often feel like the game and the AI is tricking me        Still really inconsistent
This game is beyond Fantastic Sure its got a learning curve but that is because its unlike most card games Once you understand it you will get addicted to its dynamic play and cool chaining mechanic I cant believe I only payed a dollar for such a fantastic game The only criticism is the art is sort of weak overall                 Dont listen to the negative reviews
I hadnt heard of Nightfall before playing the ios version but have fallen in love with it Theres a learning curve but that seems to be the case with any card game or board game There seems to be a pretty deep game and a lot of the fun is discovering new strategies The interface is also very smooth Playdek seems to really be nailing the ios adaptions of physical games                 Great for card game adaption
I give this game a solid 4 stars Its style of play is rather unique yet fun Its hard to grasp at first because the tutorial is not the most helpful but it gives you a good idea After a few games youre good to go                 Clever style
Less intimidating then people make it out Play tutorial play a few games refer to manual Then have one of the best deck building games to hit the ios And hey dev more expansions please                 Amazing game
Playdek Card Game Awesome                 What Can I Say
Nightfall is one of my very favorite deckbuilding card games This app is a faithful translation of that game onto the iPad                 Amazing recreation of the card game
Really addicted to this game however there are some very annoying cut corners When you switch to another app it brings you back to the main menu lots of work to find your game again Also there are weird interactions which are also annoying in Ascension with the multiplayer UI how it always kicks you to the lobby after people accept a game It is also hard to discern which game is the active game if you have some abandoned games with an opponent A lot of the art is low resolution and looks bad on the retina iPad display the zombie backgrounds the gargoyles on the bottom The fonts on the cards are also surprisingly unreadable when they are scaled down try different sampling mode or using the native font renderer at those scales and rotated When having a lot of cards they are in the wrong z order so they occlude the colors on the adjacent cards They could be stacked the other way and would be fine These couple improvements would make this game able to win design awards              Really entertaining annoying quirks
Was fun at firstAscension is WAY more engagingI deleted this app after 1wkTutorial is a jokeFail     Yawn
For everything that goes on in this game They did a great job Everything is intuitive and well placed The only complaint I have is sometimes when trying to switch to see the minions that certain players have can be difficult at times But still a great product                 Well Done
I targeted a card in opponents discard pile in a 3player game and now theres no way to close the discard pile view while the game proceeds underneath Please fix        Bug
Martial Law is excellent It really gives the game much needed diversity but why does Bad Smoke attack I mean he has 0 attack power so its a little tedious that we have to asign him someone to attack Thanks for giving us the option to turn off that message during chaining and thanks for the next game button for online games                 Excellent But one thing
Excellent game once you take the time to learn it                 Fantastic
Nice strategy game and endless replayability                 My favorite game on the iPad
As an app its welldesigned and certainly looks nice As a game its pretty terrible Ive played my fair share of CCGs and other games with complex mechanics in my day but with this one half the time I honestly have no idea whats happening or why The lack of backstory and the nonuniqueness of the cards each player can have multiple copies of the same character all fighting each other at the same time make it hard to even care As soon as I finish writing this review Im going to delete this thing and play Ascension instead        Good adaptation of a poor game
Amazing and addictive A little tough to learn but once you do youll never want to stop playing                 Excellent
This is one of the better CCGstyle games on the app store Its based on an actual paper card game and the app store conversion was done by the excellent Playdek who have thus far set the bar as far as user interfaces go Its not too terribly similar to Ascension as far as mechanics go but nonetheless fans of that game should purchase this one                 One of the better card games
This game is faithful to the cardstock game and a blast to play Like any good game with multiple strategies there is a learning curve but its worth taking the time to master One of the most important skills is learning when NOT to start your own chain                 Great Interpretation
Decent size learning curve however weak tutorial left my head spinning Play field organized but cluttered and layered Engaging game once you finally understand the mechanics of play           Fresh Alternative
This game has so many layers and no two games will play out in the same way Each turn provides you with so many meaningful decisions it can be overwhelming at first but its worth learning                 Deep addicting engaging
Great game It is the one app that I play all the time It kills my battery                 Great game
It needs Blood Country already It needed it in back in 2012 Its starting to feel like abandonware I hope AEG doesnt pull it to do it inhouse Or maybe I do Yes its a superdeep game with an expansion big enough to play by itself but for those of us who are playing obsessively all the time it needs freshened up already Playdek still doesnt realize what a wellpopulated server is worth to them They should dial back the new great games just enough to be able to support the old great games except Food Fight just let that one die I was upset that they released PVP instead of new cards for old games PVP won me over but its already hurting for new cards because it comes with so few to begin with Now Agricolas coming out and its gonna be awesome too but come on people get with the program           Great game but
This is probably the best deck building game on the market Playdek has done a superb job transitioning this to a great IPad game It is way too small for the iPhone but plays brilliantly on a larger screen This game only gets better with expansions I have played close to 50 games with this app and I am now starting to get bored I really hope the expansions come out soon before I forget about this great app Buy this game if you like Magic the gathering Dominion Etc Worth the              Cant wait for all the expansions
This is a great game especially if you enjoy losing Each card has a color and specifies two colors which may be played to follow it Even though they can be played on either players turn some cards can only benefit you on your turn and others will open the door for your opponent to hurt you So to play a card you have to be lucky enough to a have it in your deck b have drawn it c start a chain or have a compatible card appear at the end of the chain d at a time when the card could actually benefit you rather than being wasted or even harming you The real confusion comes from the fact that the game does not always display the archives and minions for both players At times to know whether its wise to play a card youll have to remember not only which minions you have out on the table but also which ones your opponents have played and which cards theyve been drawing from their archives and the shared archive AI opponents know all this stuff automatically so of course they have an edge over any human player who doesnt have excellent shortterm memory At first youll be infuriated that every card you play works against you instead of helping but the game is possible to play after all especially if you learn when to skip opportunities to lay out cards           Good but difficult and confusing
Fantastic deck building game a well spent buck Only problems I have with it is the AI seems more prone to focus me and that some cards are impossible to kickso maybe expansion              Great game Minimal problems
This game does take a little patience to grasp the gameplay and pace but once you get it down there is a lot to this game Ive only played offline but Ive logged hundreds of games now Multiple strategies and a lot of depth It is worth the extra time it takes to learn this game                 Addicting game play
A little hard to learn at first Once you learn the cards its really addictive Please bring out more card sets soon                 Awesome in depth strategy card game
