I never buy apps but loved this one Helps with vocabulary grammar Worth the price                 Great app
Im a big fan of the method employed by this program but a bit surprised that such a useful app has a handful of glaring mistakes that can lead to real confusion For example in part of lesson twelve youre supposed to choose one of four pictures that best represents the sentence ang empleyado ay hindi nakikinig the employee is not listening and the picture they have that is the supposed correct answer is that of someone listening arrow pointing to his ear and everything These kinds of mistakes though small seem to happen often Or at least much too often for a twenty dollar app If youre going to go through the trouble of coding such a useful and detailed program I would think that youd at least fix these kinds of basic mistakes before asking people to pay twenty bucks for it Looking forward to updates that fix these problems so I dont go to the philippines and have people laughing at me because I was taught incorrectly           Very useful but sometimes problematic
As an introduction to the language it isnt too bad But the path this course takes in teaching the language is questionable It presents sets of verbs andor nouns 6 at a time after a brief written introduction to the set of words In the intro there is usually a short grammar lesson Then throughout the lesson the 6 new words are used in sentences with the grammar lesson I have currently completed 14 lessons and have found the written introductions which include the grammar lessons informative overall but not comprehensive Ive had to look up words that arent presented but used in the lessons in order to understand the word use For example The verb to go is presented and we learn the translation is alis When used in the lesson however the conjugation for the boy goes is papunta This is a conjugation that was not mentioned at all in previous lessons After some online research I find that papunta is the conjugation for the verb punta which also means to go but refers to places whereas the taught word alis means to go away or to depart In addition to oversights like this is the wording used in some of the introductions It becomes apparent that a nonEnglish speaking person put these lessons together They arent so poorly written that the lessons being conveyed are lost but it seems less professional than expected I also question the teaching style of the lessons I am 14 lessons into the program and everything is still being presented in 3rd person No use of the pronoun I or you or me have been used Rather all sentences use subjects such as the man or the girl I also dislike the lack of comprehensive reviews Each lesson includes picture relations to the vocab as well as translation exercises from Tagalog to English and viceversa but nowhere in the 65 lesson program is a review using all vocab learned Each subsequent lesson uses vocab learned in previous lessons but some words are taught then never seen again making those words easily forgot unless you consistently revisit previous lessons It is a good introduction to the language and works well if youre willing to do some extra research to clarify some of the things it misses Ive found it quite helpful having a native speaking friend to confer with In doing this however I have learned that this program teaches traditional Filipino Tagalog The language has evolved over the past few years making some of the vocab learned a bit obsolete Think of it as the difference between British English and American English For example The program teaches bedroom as silid tulugan When I used this term with my Filipino friend I was told the casual term for bedroom is kuwarto which in traditional Tagalog is a synonym for silid which means room According to my friend silid tulugan is rarely used these days For the price you pay for this program its not bad But it does require some extra research Definitely an affordable but less comprehensive alternative to Rosetta stone           Sufficient with room for a LOT of improvement
Lesson buttons 165 do not open     Does not work
This program is the closest program to Rosettastone its very useful and being on the iPad makes it very practical                 Best Ive found
