Kauai Revealed 9th Edition

This app is like an index of the Kauai revealed book where you can lookup things from a map I much prefer the book format because its easy to read and the content progresses naturally from one topic to the next With the app youll lookup random bits and pieces First time visitors will get more out of the paper book whereas seasoned Kauai travellers will prefer the app although the web is better for restaurant reviews and there are better apps out there like the Kauai gps tour guide This app should be a free companion to the book My biggest peeves with this guide even after 9 editions the authors STILL have plenty of bad or missing information For example they fail to mention that youre prohibited from driving your rental car to Polihale and several other attractions that are described They even describe how to drive on the beach They claim to review all the businesses on Kauai but there are many tourist spots they dont bother mentioning from great places to eat to quaint tourist shops and several vacation rental agencies Another annoyance I accidentally purchased the app twice not realizing that different editions are separate apps instead of upgrades when wanting to load it onto my iPad Why arent updates free as with every other app        Updates should be free

I dont normally write reviews but thought I would after getting back from two weeks in Kauai I bought the app after reading about it in the book From my point of view the app is far easier to use than trying to flip through the book to find the page you are looking for I found the most useful part of the app was getting directions to a location you wanted to visit Also trying to locate and stay on unmark trails was a breeze with the built in GPS function and the map with the app While there are limited details I found the trails and roads to be spot on with the map The app allowed us to find some remote vistas that we would have never found on our own It would be great if there was a more detail with the map so that you could judge judge distances and even some basic elevations                 Buy the app dont buy the book

This app was with me at all times The book is great too but the gps feature is really handy when trying to find you way to some of the more remote sights Unbiased reviews and secret sights make this a musthave Dont go to Kauai without it                 Essential

This app will not load onto my phone I tried and tried Used different wifis with same result IPhone 6 I leave the island tomorrow Refund please     Frustrated

We used this app while visiting the island We found restaurants beaches and hiking trails by using the location button All were great finds                 Worth it if you are new to the island

This guide is really good The printed version is known to be excellent and this digital version is even better You do not need the hard copy Index is organized either region of the island or type of content you are looking for eg dining beaches sights surfing activities and so on Once you click on the place you are looking for you can call to make a reservation or click on directions for this you need to have data connection and Maps opens So easy and thorough Went to 2 restaurants with the ONO flag and was as described in the guide                 Excellent guide book

Ive never written an app review but had to for this one Its awesome as is the book This was a great resource for us Just zoom in on the map to the spot youre looking for read about it and then get directions Very easy to use This really improved the quality of our trip Thanks                 Get this app

I also cannot get this app to download on my iPhone 6 I would like a refund When will this be fixed     Also frustrated

I really love this app I also have the other apps for the other islands I just really wish that we could have all of our favorites marked on the map at the same time so that when Im driving around the island I can see when I have something coming up If this feature already exists I apologize but I did not find it Without it it is cumbersome to plan a sightseeing outing and route              Great app needs one more feature

It took me a day to effectively navigate the app but once I did the content and detail is just perfect We spent 10 days on the island and the app kept us busy with sights activities and great beaches every day without much hassle to figure out where to go or what to do Some feedback to make the app even better When you click on the map and to see what is near a location I want to filter on type eg restaurants or beaches The search function does a poor job sorting things For example if I search for a specific beach I expect that to be the first hit Show all my favorites on the map                 Very useful and accurate

I see others reporting issues downloading the app on iPhone 6 It worked for me though it was slow to download Anyway this book is THE guide you want for a Kauai trip and the app version is great The information is fantastic and will steer you in the right direction no matter what your interest is on the island I particularly enjoyed the hiking and beach sections The gps feature which works without internet service is also great when trying to figure out tricky locations                 Fine on my iPhone 6 best Kauai guide

Convenient and easy to use List of Favorites is a great way to keep track of where to go Mapping and directions make it easy to get around Its a no brainier to have on your iPhone while you are on the island                 A must have for your trip to Kauai

Besides being a fabulous guide Text updates regarding weather and things to do such as parties and events makes this a must have on any Kauai trip                 Best guide ever

I have so many useless apps I question why I bother keeping them Sitting at the airport in Kauai after a week here and this app came in handy all over this island This may be the most useful app I have ever downloaded to iPhone and I have a gazillion apps If you are going to Kauai this app is a must While the restaurants can be subjective but a lot of reviews were spot on when you need to find something in the area you are located this app will help you It worked almost everywhere on the island in terms of locating you and even without reception you can still use the app                 An App That Delivers

Just used this app for a week on Kauai and found many spots to see and great places to eat The descriptions were accurate The best feature is finding stuff nearby by clicking on the map It was easy to use and when I found a glitch I emailed the developers and they responded with the solution in less than a day The only thing that would improve this app is to show things that you have marked as favorites on the map so that if you are headed to a town you could see at a glance if theres a place you marked ahead of time We didnt have the print version but I saw that it was very similar when I got to see an older copy An incredible amount of info in one app I was out data for the month and I was still able to use the locate me function With the App Store iCloud family share both my girlfriend and I could download it to our phones Great app I hesitated to spend 799 but glad I did Thats less than I spent on a breakfast sandwich on the island                 Great even without the actual book

So worth the money A great companion to the book the GPS locator makes getting around the island so easy                 Wow

Plenty of good info just like the book But whats the point of a geoaware app if it can offer nearby suggestions        Needs a whats nearby feature

This App points out a speed trap at 15 MPH a School Zone All school zones in my area the speed limit is posted at 25 MPH My company would view this as reckless driving and I would have lost my job                 Saved my job

Weve been to Kauai the last 3 years and have used this app along with the book occasionally as our guide Its an absolute MUST HAVE The bookapp was spot on in the reviews of almost everything and even led us to secret hidden areas like waterfalls secluded beaches And not needing an Internet connection to use the map is GENIUS I would absolutely not recommend traveling to Kauai without this app                 Easy onestop shopping for everything Kauai
