Kapten Europe GPS multitransport

Bought this app for a motorcycle weekend in Spain The app is very big about 15 G and takes a while to download and load First time it crashed every time I tried to use it for navigation so I deleted it and reloaded it Now it crashes about every third time I try to navigate with it Looks like it has some great features but it seems to crash too often to be reliable           Big download keep crashing

I recently had a 2 week trip in France I looked at renting a GPS from the car rental company but it was almost as much for that as the car itself It would be cheaper to buy a Garmin or TomTom device Then Doh Get an iphone app I found this one and I am extremely pleased It uses GPS but does not use international data roaming as opposed to the builtin google map This turned out to be a key feature I wasnt aware of The data roaming charges are very high for US users I am very happy with the monthly pricing I purchased 1 month as thats all I needed It worked well on the road It worked well walking around the city except in the very oldest part of the city center where there was very little GPS signal I definitely recommend this app if you need to find your way around europe The car and pedestrian directions worked well Pedestrian asks if you want to take public transport I didnt try this I dont need it in the US when in my car but if I have a trip to Boston or New York or I will buy the US version for a month even for a short trip Good value for money              Just what I needed

update I used again the app after paying another one month license and this time it was great in Paris even for walking and bus directions Special thanks to the Support team which very promptly followed an issue I had with purchasing the license Below my old feedback recently spent 3 weeks in France between Paris and Provence discovered this app which is large to download but then it works like a charm and it does NOT require roaming or cell service good voice directions and accurate guidance most of the time We had a second rental car from Avis with a TomTom GPS rented for 10euro per day and Kapten beats it flat down no question The 8month is a good price for someone who needs it for s short time I would buy the permanent license if it was cheaper though It could use some improvement like the ability to copy and paste a contact address I like my iPhones ability to click on an address which opens google maps I wish it could execute Kapten instead                 Great app Good price

Got this app to use as a GPS when visiting France It was just horrible in every way imanginable It sounded like a great idea having on board maps and not incurring roaming charges but this just didnt work at all It couldnt keep a location signal even under open sky and with a full bar signal It rarely accurately determined the location and couldnt keep it for more than a few moments It routed terribly couldnt adjust for detours after taking a wrong turn blocked road etc Even without that one would hope you could at least use it as if as a manual map sans GPS functionality But no the interface is also horribly unusable and would not even allow manually moving around zooming the map etc Had to end up using google maps when we got really lost and it found our location just fine when this couldnt Its a real shame because this is a great way to have gps maps for vacations being low cost for short term usage Hopefully these problems will get fixed in future versions but as is now a paper map is a better option than this     Better off without it
